The Tempest is actually about the colonization of America during Shakespeares time. Caliban represents the indians who were treated very badly by prospero and miranda who represent the colonists. And Trinculo has a line that strengthens this theory, "Where i in England now, as once i was, and had but this fish painted, not a holiday fool there but would give a piece of silver: when they will not give a dolt to relieve a lame beggar, they will lay out ten to see a dead indian". *Not my theory*

ok my opinion the movie for this book is not very good . the book itself well it kind of wierd for shakespears work i dont think they realy know if it was at the start of his career and towards the end . but ther is a part of the text witch they believe could be a reference to him retiring as he seems to reference to globe theatre. or could just be wair he got the name i dono lol long time ago lol well all on all its a strange one lol and i am a fan of his work mabey the new movie will be good

Are you kidding me dandaman? With that sort of command of the language you couldn't be expected to get what's going on in the play.

It is his final play, and was made AFTER he retired, thematically it is about the effects of art on people. Listen to Caliban's speech in this video.

The tempest, contrary to popular opinion, was not at all his final play. Two Noble Kinsmen, henry VIII and the lost 'Cardenio' all post date the tempest.
