There are a million variables when it comes to defense. This is only one scenario. You cannot expect a martial arts teacher to teach a defense that will work in any situation. Great work GM Freedman!
What I show in most of my videos on you-tube here are things that HAVE worked for me. I share these ideas to help out others who might live in dangerous neighborhoods. If some one wants to shoot you, they just will and not talk to you nor approach you.. How ever.. every time some one pulled a gun on me while I lived in Boston it was more to threaten me. And I have had a gun pulled out on me many times. So I am teaching from experience here & not some made up technique. With Respect P.F. Sensei
BigRed613.. I have used this idea already once on the street. And yes it worked for me & I now posses a 32 cal handgun that I had taken away from the jerk trying to hold me up. Please do understand that what gets anybody over in a self defense situation is the element of surprise. Most first! Move fast! and hurt with cruelty to stop the aggressor. We were having fun here just showing some ideas only. In real time this would look very different. Thank you for commenting. W/ Respect, Peter F.
Military personnel perform these techniques in combat all the time it's bio-mechanical law actions is ALWAYS faster then reaction. Most people who want to kill you don't start a conversation first as long as you master your technique your chances of success are great. Side note that's not the correct definition of a stage two trigger.
I hope people watching this realize the seriousness of having a loaded gun pointed at you if it's a two stage trigger and the hammer is cocked it takes such little force to discharge the weapon. I would never advise ANYONE attempting to disarm someone with a firearm. Your chances of getting shot are much to great. Love to see this happen with a real gun with pain rounds see how many times he get shot before getting to safety. I feel videos like this can give false confidence and possibly ge
@bigred613 I think most people agree that if you can just hand-over your wallet and be done with it then you should. However, if you're in a situation were that isn't good enough then you may not have a choice but to fight. Even if you do get shot only 20% of bullet wounds are fatal. Your adrenaline could get you through the fight and you could get medical attention afterwards. And how many videos have we seen of store owners and robbers shooting it out from just feet apart and no one gets hit?
I know this comment is major late, but somebody is not going to use the advantage, of distance if they are robbing you in a city or urban environment, their idea is to get close to you, and pick targets they can intimidate...Of course professionals will know they need a min of 7-10 feet (what we in professional settings call the HOLE) criminals who are attempting robberies enter this area and I think that is what Mr. Freedman is addressing here. Planning for multiple scenarios is a great idea.
I've noticed a slight problem with at least the first technique:
The guy still has the gun! Just because the gun isn't pointing at you, doesn't mean it's a good idea to go pointing it in just any other direction, let alone behind you, where you can't see what it's pointing at, not to mention putting the hand holding the gun out of reach so that you can't actually get to the weapon.
Unrealistic engagements aside, this seemed like a fairly important detail. :)
why do people always give their advantage of a weapon they could use over the distance away by putting the weapon so close to another persons body? Serious, could anybody answer this question. Thank you.
So that you won't try and run. From a distance u can get behind something and run. And also a mugger can't get your money from so far away. If all he wants to do is kill u then of course u won't be able to defend your self, but this is if the gunner wants valuables which is more probable.

What would you do if there were a good distance between you and your attacker and you can't reach him or his gun?

Many instructors world wide, small % of greatness if I can use that word, Pete has a unique approach that defines jujitsu.

I love Jiujitsu because it is relatively uncomplicated and proven on the battlefield by samurai and in the ring by the Gracie's.

A professional will stand at a distance with the gun. He will have you put your wallet on the ground and leave.
redandblacklvmc 4 years ago
And that's exactly what you should do in any confrontation. Do what they want.
Until they tell you to get in their boot (trunk) or something.
