At 7:08 they're using rear projection visuals. Very troublesome, time-consuming and not very convincing. I believe that they were still trying to perfect the blue/green screen technique which was successful with models and miniatures, but not very clean when using actors. Nowadays, chroma keying is so simple, you can do it on a laptop.
these guys and gals made my dismal childhood the best,growing up poor made me apriciat everything even great episodes of battlestar galactica
