anyway . im saying that 7D it's not full frame. i understand the crop factor. since this is not slow motion i'd rather shot it on a full frame camera.
Both the 4.5mm and 10mm Sigma fisheyes are designed for use with cameras that have the aps-c/cropped sensor and not for full frame. I've had the luck to play with both on my Sony a580 SLR and was impressed with the results. The 4.5mm produces EXTREMELY distorted results while the 10mm behaves more like a typical ultra-wide angle in comparison. First time I've seen a video shot through a fisheye though, interesting idea!
@ThrashinThursdays ya thats barhaven. and to answer your question the machine hes using is worth some coin. hes using a detachable, interchangable lens, not a screw on century optics glass on some dated VX100. this camera's a beast
@ROGELIOBLUE yea.. it's so sad we have to pay $1000 more for the full frame on the 5Dmkii and it doesn't have 24fps.. It's so hard to choose between the 7D and the 5Dmk2 because they both cancel each other out..
You get some distortion. On a canon crop frame, it actually is the equivalent of 16mm on a full frame sensor.
Sigma also makes an FFL 8mm f/2.8 fisheye lens that works wonderful in low-light situations due to the larger aperture, so if you would want a true fisheye I would grab that one. I have the nikon mount version for my D7000 and its not quite circular but it's definitely more of a fisheye effect. it's around 900 us dollars.
@ROGELIOBLUE I suggest to read up more on the crop-sensor concept...
it's not like that. It literally crops what a full frame sees. So technically speaking, you are still seeing a fisheye image... it's just that the image would be bigger on a full frame...
@ROGELIOBLUE the lens is still 10mm, the focal length never changes on any body. However on a 7D you will not get the same field of view as a full frame body. assuming the lens is an Full frame lens or "EF"
Despite the crop-factor, it's still a fisheye, as the entire image is looking bulging, or in better technical terms. "Distorted".
Now I must say you're wrong, the LENS is still a 10mm fisheye, nonetheless - however the physical layout of the camera and the image sensors, which create a crop-factor, enhances the zoom width, nevertheless, the lens is still a 10mm fisheye.
@ROGELIOBLUE The sensor is 10mm away from the rear lens element, therefore it's 10mm, it doesn't matter what the size of the sensor is. just keep it in mind. cheers.
@geoffwebb1 Not at all, who's to say 'full frame' is the be all and end all of camera focal lengths, to which all other size sensor cameras should be directly compared to? I think medium format camera users would have something to say on that matter among others. Sure when context isn't given it can be useful to give an 'effective focal length' relative to full frame (or other) sensors, however the context here is given in the title; 7D - so we know instantly it's a 10mm lens on an APS-C sensor.
i agree on all points and own a 7d myself; i just think the arguments you made to me just now would've been more helpful than the previous comment directed at the now-infamous Rogelio, who's just trying to say he likes full-frame cameras in his admittedly special way :)

@ROGELIOBLUE on an APS-C it's about 16mm... still pretty wide.

@ROGELIOBLUE Well you tried to sound like you knew what you were talking about. Sadly you didnt.
The Sigma 10 f2.8 is a "DC" lens, meaning it's made for APS-C size sensors.
Uglycasan0va 11 months ago
@Uglycasan0va It's still not actually 10mm on it, it's still a 16mm equivalent on an APS-C sensor.
Just like my Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 is designed for an APS-C sensor, it's still about 18-28mm on it.
So basically he was saying that the Fisheye Effect is eliminated compared to a true FF fisheye lens on a FF camera.
