Well, we got a glimpse of Eli comforting who wife. It was strongly hinted that she was trying to conceive a child. With Tara's hand still recovering, she can still practice medicine, just is incapable of performing surgery. I think she's going to help Eli's wife get pregnant. Why else would they show us a glimpse?

I too want to see more Gemma/Tig action, but I understand why the subject has been dropped for now. Allthough there's probably som mutual attraction between them - what happened in season 2 ep.11 was probably more related to the inner turmoil in both characters rather than them loosing control of their love/lust for eachother.
