  • So glad I found this video and your channel. I always wanted to be a nurse. But starting a family early has but my dream on the back burner. With my hubby in the service it also makes it hard to get started. But last week I went to a school to look into the medical Asisst program. Wow! 8,160 per quater and there are 6. $48,960. I'm afraid to ask how much the nursing program cost. The schools that I have located are at least 1:45 min away from me. What's a girl to do?

  • @jusvis8ing Thank you so much for watching and for your support! I give you kudos with sticking to your goal of becoming a nurse. You are the type of people that I look up to for going back to school despite all that you've been through! You can and WILL do it! Yeah, over $8k a year is wayyyyyy to much for a med assist program.. that is just ridiculous, but they get away with it for the exact reason you mentioned of it being close by and the convenience.

  • @jusvis8ing I know a 1:45 min drive to a from school each day would be annoying, but I am sure you wouldn't spend $40k in 2 years on gas. A lot of people commuted from almost 2 hours away and they hated it, but made it work. I would recommend you looking into that... when school starts and you get familiar with a few people, you could even get some car-pooling together. A few of the girls in my class did the same thing and saved a lot of money. Ugh! I know it's irritating, but you can do it!!

  • I think its very important to note that its extremely competitve these days to get into public scholl nursing programs. The prices are very attractive and a lot of people want to get in. They usually give preference to the students who take prereqs in thier school and a much higher GPA than they say in thier application requirements. Im currently in my 2nd semester of the nursing program in Hostos community college here in NYC and this has been my experience.

  • @eidehenre You are correct about that!! I wish you the best!

  • I did not no there was a cap on loans.

  • Im completing my last semester at a community college. My husband and I paid for all my pre reqs and books ourselves (while I was working) and I just took out a gov loan for my nur classes. By God's grace I will be graduating this semester oweing $7500 in loans (wihich incl nur books). I love community college, I dont think I could have done a 4 year university because it is so expensive. Im 29 and there are people in my class that are in their 30-50's and there is still years to work :-)
