Does the psp version have the hard mode like the pc version? I really didn't like how the gamecube an psx version of re2 was easy with normal and easy difficulty only, kinda an insult to hardcore players. I have to start making up condition on how I play the game to get a bigger thrill, such as carrying only 60 handgun bullets and 35 shotgun shells.

if you have custom firmware then i have found you need version 3.80m33 to make resi 2 work all the way through just get 3.8 and use popsloader to alter it

ok so i got GEN A FULL, PSP 3000 (version 5.03), i downloaded the popsloader onto my psp already and the psar dumper, i also used the 3.40 updater already. Resident Evil 2 is in my psp/game folder and it starts but after the 1st logo it turns black and never moves on from there. I also tried using my psar dumper but it specifically says "psar too big recompile with a bigger buffer." WHat should i do?

Well, basicly it is firmware that isn't offical firmware that your psp comes with. To get it you need a pandora battery or if your psp was version 1.50 you can just upgrade to custom firmware. search on google or youtube and you should find some tutorials

Most playstation 1 games can be converted to run on PSP, think you need a custom firmware though, not 100% sure if they work on an official sony psp firmware, maybe someone knows?

it's a playstation 1 conversion, not a psp title, its actually a very good game, you've got to remember video output is on a 32 inch flatscreen tv, not a small psp screen, it's bound to look bad as all the pixels are being stretched on a big screen.
