  • It's hot, and I'm going swimming.

  • This is why Sesame Street had me wishing I was a kid in Brooklyn when I was little.

  • @elementz1986

Where were you living while you were wishing that you were in Brooklyn? I lived in New Jersey during most of my growing up years.

  • 1:39. Reminds me of the movie "Do the Right Thing".

  • I loved this when i was a kid. I used to act out the words in the begining and thendo the hot in the cityyyy bit! lol

  • Holy hell, I didn't expect to find this clip. I loved this song when I was a kid.

  • It really is hot right now ^^

  • That is me! At 45 seconds...my sister and myself. Its so strange seeing it after all these years!

  • Really! That's so cool! What borough was it filmed?

  • New York

  • thats cool... how old are you now if you dotn mind my asking ???

  • British columbia in the summer only reache around 30+ (35+ is uncommon to rare) at high and around 20 low. But yeah it's pretty seasonal here which is awesome.

  • I'm burning sweat

  • I was always super pissed about that one open hydrant when I was little.

  • It's hot, like hell

  • wow this is my mom..singing the woman's part...Memories!!

  • Wow, that is so cool! Did your mom sing anything else for Sesame Street?

  • there's two versions of this video...one showing the guy and my mom singing together on a bench and there's this one....she also sang a jingle on here called boogie wit cha body...im trying to find it!

  • This version of this video is the one I remember from when I was little. And hey, I remember that boogie wit cha body jingle! Be sure to post a link here if you find the video. And be sure to tell your mom that a lot of people like me still remember her stuff from Sesame Street!

  • Wow was that your mom singing that song? What is her name. And tell her a girl called Joanne remembers the hot in the city segment on sesame street and she has a beautiful singing voice.

  • Wow FutureWifey is that your Mom singing the womans part? She has a lovely , strong powerful voice doesn't she? Your mom did lots of singing in Sesame Street is that true? Would you tell you mom that Joanne always watched Sesame Street and you have a lovely voice and she is a fan of yours. Is your mom a famous singer? I bet lots of people beg for her autograph and have her photo taken for the newspapers. I would love your mom to post me a special message say Joanne would love a message of you.

  • I can sort of remember wishing that my neighborhood looked like that when the weather got hot... like with lots of kids playing in the streets with water everywhere.

  • loved this

  • It's Hell!!

  • Perfect timing on posting this since it's still summer time right now.

  • This sure is evocative.

BTW, things like this always make me wonder how little kids in rural Nebraska or up in Alaska somewhere can relate to the VERY NYC-flavored Sesame Street. Although in recent years this aspect of the show has been greatly downplayed, historically it's loudly worn its NYC roots on its sleeve. Not that that ever hurt it in the ratings, but it must have just seemed culturally alien to all the rural kids out there, especially the ones nowhere near the East Coast.

  • lol I lived right outside of NYC and didn't think about that until fairly recently. Everyone on Sesame St sounded like everyone I knew - the accents some people pick up on in the older ones weren't remarkable to me - they were home. So you're right, it must have been difficult for non-urban kids to relate.

  • Hey, it never hurt me. Of course, I grew up in a house in the suburbs, but of course, I thought it would be cool to live in an apartment in the city or something. What was wrong with me, I don't know.

  • I was one of those kids who grew up in rural Nebraska, and I never had a problem relating. I knew what cities were like...I had family in San Jose, CA and Phoenix, AZ and had visited, plus spent time in Denver. Most kids are savvy enough to realize there's variety out in the world, and I think most kids are fascinated by those differences. I always dug Sesame.

  • This song ought to be playing on our local radio stations now...four stars!

  • Where are you? I'm in Vegas, where yes it should be.

  • I'm in Madison, Wisconsin--and we're still having one heckuva heat wave for a city so far north.

  • I'm originally from Detroit, so I can relate there as well.

  • It's really hot in my hometown right now too. This song is great to get through those hot summer days. Thanks for posting.

  • it's hot now where i live. :) thanx 4 posting

  • IT'S HOT!
