man, thank you for putting this video up! i used to love the music to this game! to this day i still sometimes hum these beats to myself. but i never heard the music for the rest of the game as i couldnt even get past the first level. this shit was hard as hell! you couldnt touch anything!
This is best music on NES. I mean, have you heard drums in any NES soundtrack? I think not. Mega Man is nothing comparing to this. Anyway, decent game, but difficulty is epic (don't trust AVGN, it's not that hard. I finished first level after 10 times.) and it doesn't make much sense. Why is Silver Surfer fighting some lizards and halloween ghosts?
@bozhno Actually, there were games that used a channel on the NES 2A03 soundchip called DPCM that allowed them to use drum samples. But this game actually used a low slide down note in the bass along with a kick from the noise channel, making a really cool drum effect. The way they pulled it off makes it one awesome soundtrack.
Wow, awesome music. I'd never heard of the Follin brothers until now. The fact that Tim Follin worked on Ecco: Defender of the Future (another awesome soundtrack) makes him that much cooler in my eyes.
It isnt that bad of a game if you see it as a game meant to be hard.If you really want to become a master of games and you are looking a chalenge its not bad its perfect to train and become perfect.BUT look no futher than the steam piece of shit called Cheetah Man 2 on the NES.Thats the real ''Follins' musical talent that got wasted on such awful games''.
fantastic, definitely one of my favorite NES soundtracks. the follin bros always delivered good music for any of the games they worked on. this cosmic, swirling sort of music style is very similar to what they (or just geoff, i believe) did for a fairly obscure gameboy game called "spot," a puzzle game using the cool spot 7up mascot. very simple game, but the music is stunning.
Yeah, I could've made it a bit longer, but most people remember this game as being complete ass (except for the tunes of course), so I figured 5 minutes was already borderline. Anyhoo, thanks for the rating/comment.

Also note that the Silver Surfer is still working for Galactus in this game...I wish I still had my old Nintendo so I could play it.

Good soundtrack for a terrible game...it's too bad, SS is one of my favorite comics, I was so disappointed by the assness of this game.

He does that for effect. Most of the games he reviews aren't that difficult at all.

i tryed this game and it isnt the worst game
remember that avgn makes video just for entertainment
you don't have to agree with him what he says :P

This is why modern VGM composers must bow down to the Follin brothers.
They can take a sound chip and squeeze the best out of it.

Also, people only say this game sucks because James Rolfe said so.
This game's pretty much Image Fight mixed with R-Type.
MattTheSpratt 2 years ago
Agreed. I recently tried it out on my NES emulator and I didn't find a problem with it whatsoever. Thinking about getting the actual game on my NES.

I'm really glad I checked this playlist out. I would've had no idea Follin kicked as much ass with this as he did with Solstice. Great sounds.

Some of the best NES music I've ever heard. The Folins had a knack for brining the best out of any sound chip they touched.

Single-handedly the best soundtrack for the NES. You left out one of the best songs though. It's on the 2nd stage of reptyl. Not enough room??
jrod112278 3 years ago
Luckly, I borrowed this game from someone, so I wasn't so frustrated when I couldn't beat a single level.

How did the Follins' musical talent get wasted on such awful games?
First Treasure Master, now Silver Surfer.
