@SLPIFan It's a bad movie, even if it wasn't a remake, it would still suck. The CGI is pathetic, it's like watching a cartoon, the original FX were more crafty and realistic. The acting on this one is terrible, I don't know where did they get those actors, they suck. The story seems to be written by a 10 year old, it's too simple and stupid, they didn't get Freddy's essence. The original plot was more interesting and had many elements from psychology and mythology that were lost in this remake.

This movie has absolutely NOTHING on the original. When did I ever say that it did? To be fair I didn't give my view on the originals in the first comment, but I didn't say they were bad or worse than this one. I AM A FAN OF THE ORIGINAL MOVIES! I'd say that at least the original, DREAM WARRIORS, DREAM MASTER, and NEW NIGHTMARE are all definitely superior to this one. Not sure where I'd rank it with parts 2, 5, and 6. Don't go all gung-ho on me without all of the facts.

True. A remake wasn't absolutely necessary, at least not at this point. And there is nothing wrong with the original. The reason I don't really hate on remakes as a whole is that I think it's interesting to see other ways a story can be told. I'm not saying that can't be told poorly which is a problem, but the only other times I really have issues are shot for shot remakes like PSYCHO or OMEN.

I think they are making a remake to IT now that you mention it. A bit early for that.

My philosophy is to remake movies that were not terribly well known, obscure or unloved instead of to classics or well known movies people are familar with. Good examples of remakes to lesser known or obscure movies are The Crazies, Toolbox Murders, 2001 Maniacs, Mother's Day or The Ring

Some of your fave movies could be remakes without knowing which have been around since the 1920s. Have you seen The Thing or The Fly? 2 brilliant remakes.

This new Nightmare on elm street isn't better than the original and it isn't a fresh look, it's just the same with other actors.

Hollywood just do this for the money, the Ring wasn't bad, but there is nothing wrong with the original Ringu.

And the original Ju-On, the eye, dark water, Rec, etc are all better than the remakes made of them.

I especially like the fact that it tells how freddy is fueled by their memories, something more psychological and deep than 84's
