What really defines a good serve is variation and that the other player can't figure out the spin. This sever has very little variation and it is so easy to figure out the spin. Suckish serve.
lol otcharov's serve is horrible cuz you cant add variation to that kind of serve. Look at Ma lin, he can throw different types of spins and serve all with one motion... look at this video against zhang jike /watch?v=GUbDgh_Ks9Q&feature=related
@95mar I liked the music too & listened to the lyrics & typed them into google. Once I found the lyrics I was able to trace the song. The song is called "Cathar Rhythm" from a man named Eric Lévi who did new Age music. The album was called Era, first released in 1996 and re-released in 1998. If you type in ERA Cathar Rhythm in the youtube search there are several videos attributed to the song. Hope this helped.
liu guoliang services & ma lin services are the best By the way this guy ovtchrov When he plays he sounds like Ah ah ah i dunno if he watches porn so much or what -_-
God stop giving this guy a hard time he just wanted to share is friends experience so what if ovtcharov's serve isn't the best. However in my opinion lui gouliang was the king of service
lol, all these youtube professionals should watch some unedited videos of Ovtcharov playing. Many players have a lot of trouble returning his serves, especially players around WR 100 and lower. This video is "good serves" not best serves, so why is everyone comparing Ovtcharov to Ma Lin all of a sudden? Lot of Ovtcharov haters probably lol
backspin with heavy side spin added, nothing special... very easy to counter for ranked players... but for mere mortals like us, it would feel like as it was described in the video above. heavy ball going directly down once received with a weak push or counter...
the best service has schlager and kenta matsudeira...
i don't think ma longs service is really heavy becaus many top players return it a little bit too high and than ma long can play a good first ball on it...
@nike1717 Schlager? No way! There is a youtube clip of him playing Ma Long and just getting raked over the coals for his serves. Wang Liquin or Samsonov have crazy serves. No one ever does anything other then return them. They are just happy to get them over the net.
I don't think the chinese serves have that much spin. But they can loopattack on almost any serve return because the serve is kinda fast so it's hard to do a low and short return.
Ovtcharov however has, as far as I can see, a serve with superspin, good against players that aren't superb, but not very good against the best in the world, since it's not that difficult to do a short and low return on the serve, impossible for ovtcharov to loop on.
the ghost serve really isn't hard. it just looks cool. i play table tennis for gods sake. but the chinese serves has spin, thats for sure. just enough spin for the opponent not being able to loop but they can't do a short return.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
omg noob this serve is SOOOOO easy only because it moves around the table u say its amasing? no! getting heavy spin is easy it only reqiures ballcontrol and hitting the ball very smooth
placement is key. its obvious where he will go. where as ma lin or yoshida kaii or wang hao disguise the serve incredibly well and can change placement with a flick of the wrist.
Des bons services ne doivent pas permettre à l'adversaire de prendre l'initiative mais doivent permettre à soi-même de prendre l'initiative derrière la remise ;)
i think ovtcharov´s serve i really good because he just want to play backhand i he is doing a serve with side spin to the backhand and they often push to Dima´s backhand ! he plays really smart
Man, that serve that Ovtcharov did at 1:16, it curved to the other side like crazy! That would've made a brilliant double bounce service..... problem with that service is, like some of you said here, it's not good for people who catch their opponents off guard with their services and like to trick their opponents with their varieties of spins.
It would get boring that no one could get it back, but I am very patient when it comes to working on something, but im sure there are millions of people out there studying and calculating trying to come up with every serve imaginable, but even with the technology in the blades and rubbers its still humanly impossible to generate enough spin accurately that someone cant return the ball... but it would be fun lol....
It's really bullshit. If this Ovtcharov serve is that good, why is it then that none the top players has any problems with it? The usually just attack it, because it bounces way to high and long!
hey man, i dont know if you have played with ovtchrov, but ive seen my friend play, hes number one in brasil wich i doubt you can beat...the serve is not just sideways it has underspin too and its really heave, you are correct tho in one part, that top players have ease in returning, but listen...they r top players, their not us, see the reall big diference, they r expecxted to do it because they r top players, i have a gane where wang liqin first played with ovt. he missed this serve like crazy
@oldolchen If you are the top Brazilian table tennis player, you should also be able to listen and understand spin, and at least successfully execute a push a few times even against very heavy spin.
I wouldn't even begin to say that this service is bullshit. Nowadays, you can't hide your services anymore anyways. You might as well say that the tomahawk service is useless is this one is..... but why don't you try taking his service, he can still change the spin from side top to side bottom very easily. a good serve is not a serve that has lots of spin
but a good serve is one where the server can easily attack the third ball
many pros use no spin serve to smash and end the point quickly
so all u people blabbering about whether or not his serve has lots of spin dont kno what a good serve is
MA LIN is the best because he serves and follows up and its GG!!!
