What really defines a good serve is variation and that the other player can't figure out the spin. This sever has very little variation and it is so easy to figure out the spin. Suckish serve.

@95mar I liked the music too & listened to the lyrics & typed them into google. Once I found the lyrics I was able to trace the song. The song is called "Cathar Rhythm" from a man named Eric Lévi who did new Age music. The album was called Era, first released in 1996 and re-released in 1998. If you type in ERA Cathar Rhythm in the youtube search there are several videos attributed to the song. Hope this helped.

lol, all these youtube professionals should watch some unedited videos of Ovtcharov playing. Many players have a lot of trouble returning his serves, especially players around WR 100 and lower. This video is "good serves" not best serves, so why is everyone comparing Ovtcharov to Ma Lin all of a sudden? Lot of Ovtcharov haters probably lol

@nike1717 Schlager? No way! There is a youtube clip of him playing Ma Long and just getting raked over the coals for his serves. Wang Liquin or Samsonov have crazy serves. No one ever does anything other then return them. They are just happy to get them over the net.

I don't think the chinese serves have that much spin. But they can loopattack on almost any serve return because the serve is kinda fast so it's hard to do a low and short return.

Ovtcharov however has, as far as I can see, a serve with superspin, good against players that aren't superb, but not very good against the best in the world, since it's not that difficult to do a short and low return on the serve, impossible for ovtcharov to loop on.

the ghost serve really isn't hard. it just looks cool. i play table tennis for gods sake. but the chinese serves has spin, thats for sure. just enough spin for the opponent not being able to loop but they can't do a short return.

placement is key. its obvious where he will go. where as ma lin or yoshida kaii or wang hao disguise the serve incredibly well and can change placement with a flick of the wrist.

Man, that serve that Ovtcharov did at 1:16, it curved to the other side like crazy! That would've made a brilliant double bounce service..... problem with that service is, like some of you said here, it's not good for people who catch their opponents off guard with their services and like to trick their opponents with their varieties of spins.

hey man, i dont know if you have played with ovtchrov, but ive seen my friend play, hes number one in brasil wich i doubt you can beat...the serve is not just sideways it has underspin too and its really heave, you are correct tho in one part, that top players have ease in returning, but listen...they r top players, their not us, see the reall big diference, they r expecxted to do it because they r top players, i have a gane where wang liqin first played with ovt. he missed this serve like crazy

I wouldn't even begin to say that this service is bullshit. Nowadays, you can't hide your services anymore anyways. You might as well say that the tomahawk service is useless is this one is..... but why don't you try taking his service, he can still change the spin from side top to side bottom very easily. It's not how you hide the spin sometimes, services don't have to be purely complicated. Not everyone's like Ma Lin.
