  • A pretty cool list!

I suppose the Mega Drive has a few more undiscovered gems beyond the typical Sonic and so on.

  • @Dandaman955 I thoughts so. And even though I loved Sonic and Streets of Rage etc etc, I figured it would be a tad boring to mention them as often lists of these sorts do.

  • I really like that you don't put up the traditional games on this list like Sonic The Hedgehog.

  • @OneyedWhiteOwl With a tiny bit of Guts anyone can upload their opinions without being controlled by the brainwash masses of the religious gamer. Not saying having a traditional choice is bad, I just can't see my self complaining when I don't see my fav on someone else's list. Glad you can appreciate my tastes, even if it were merely because Sonic the Stagehog isn't on there. Dang I miss Alex Kidd and OPA OPA, Zillion etc.

  • just got a nes and a 16 bit sg remake console. dont have any 16 bit games tho lmao where do you find them

  • @havinagoodtimefour20 You can buy most anything on-line. I just looked up Gunstar Heroes on Amazon and it was going for 13 bucks. Also, check out local Game stores other than Gamestop, IE: Cyb Knight, or Disc Replay, or Convert to Cash stores. Resale shops are a safe fun gamble, but the web is the best in my opinion. EBAY or AMAZON, Sonic 2 for SEGA goes for 2.50 on Amazon and "Ranger X" goes for 6 bucks on Ebay. Dynamite headdy 6 bucks, however "Alien Soldier" goes for 70, sorry.

  • @stringanime lol kk thanks for the info sir. ill check amazon seems to be the best bet now-adays. my cousin gave it to me because he thought it was a nes and a snes. lucked out i did. i usually hit jjgames, but they are limited to a certain degree. once again thanks for the help. love the old stuff

  • Ive been looking for this video! Great selection! I love those arcade style games!

  • You have great taste!

  • @miamimagicians Thanks, and so do you.

  • McDonald s treasure land!? Really? Sonic Shining Force Golden Axe Streets of Rage None of these but Ronald McDonald fun time makes the list??

  • @itsameray Haha. Yeah at one point if you had asked me what games are my favs and I would have said stuff like Streets of Rage 2, Sonic 3, Revenge of Shinobi, the usual suspects, but after Gunstar Heroes came out.... I started paying attention to that game developer TREASURE, and found that I just like their games best. If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be interested in new game consoles. however I see what you mean, Ronald in Treasureland is pretty ridiculous of a choice, I'm just biased.

  • @stringanime lol hey man its your opinion that's what makes watching these top ten list so fun. Sorry had to give you a little shit about Ronald McDonald though.

  • @itsameray It's cool. BTW Sin and Punishment Star Successor for Wii made by TREASURE 2010 is the BOMB!

  • Everything Japanese development games.

  • @doujindance What can I say, I admire good talent no matter where it lands.

  • Daaaamn. Ranger X? And Alien Soldier at number 1? I think I love you.

Pretty much the only thing I would do differently is put Ristar somewhere on the list.

  • @321cheeseman Yeah I know what you mean, kinda wish I had put it on there:) Also Pulseman is unique and awesome, I just forgot it. People gonna kill me for this but if I could Replace a game on here for Ristar, it would probably be Contra Hardcorps. Anyone disagree with that, play Ristar ALL the way through and then tell me Ristar Couldn't Replace Contra, as Manly as Contra is, Ristar is just...Well it's RISTAR!

  • Love the list. Never really played Sega consoles much (more of a Nintendo fan when i was young) so i need to discover more games for the genesis. Friend just let me have hers and i'm definitely going to look for these titles. (Except Mickey D's, even though the game looks better than most sonic and Mario games, I refuse to own anything from that evil corp.

  • @nomadsince07 Totally understand. What makes McDonald's Treasure Land so great is that it was made by the same people who made GUNSTAR HEROES, TREASURE. They also made ALIEN SOLDIER, DYNAMITE HEADDY, and LIGHT CRUSADER, as well as a YU YU HAKUSHO game. If it weren't for the good design of the game, I wouldn't play it, but if you should play it, rest assure that McDonald's wont see a dime.

  • @stringanime. Oops! Sorry about the empty comment. I just wanted to say this is a really good list. I subscribed because of it coupled with the fact that you show a lot of class in your comments. YouTube needs more of that.

  • @SoftOtaku Hey, thanks! That is really encouraging. Also, because you subscribed, you and my other Subs will be notified about a big project cartoon I have been working on all this year. I am really excited about finishing it and showing it.

  • BUT Bucky O' Hare was harder, maybe not as enjoyable as GSH, but VERY close. and not as short!

  • WOW. Did I just see the same boss in Ghostbusters at Zelda 2? Good that some puts GOOD games on a Genesis list for once! AND I AGREE with you on the Ronald game. Good list!

  • i renember ALIEN SOILDER i was beat tha game when i was 6 to 7 years old

actually on this day 7/22/2011 im 14 years old

i was beat that game on that CD i was got from 400 fullgames from SEGA

  • i renember 8 ranger....

i renember i was have a CD with 400 full games from sega

now that CD i was got its broken :( i wish that CD never broked to still have playing all sonic games :S (old sonic games)

  • I just beat shinobi 3 today :)

  • Answer: All of them <3

  • Treasure is a treasure, hell how can you make a good game out of mc donalds, they did!

  • @y2k4ever1 Yeah, although I don't care too much for the Bleach games they made, they are still good. My Fav game of all time is ADVANCE GUARDIAN HEROES. I know the One for Saturn is Awesome but I really like the controls of AGH and the way you can hav 19 unlock-able playable characters in Story mode and Training Mode. If you haven't played it, you ought to. It reminds me of the Simpsons and TMNT and Bucky O'Hare Games that Treasure staff worked on when they were still with Konami back in the day

  • @stringanime Didn't Treasure do Gradius V for the PS2, which was a Konami game? I seem to remember that. Great list, btw. Treasure is definitely one of my favorite developers ever, with all the classics you showed/mentioned, plus Bangai-O, SIn and Punishment, Ikaruga, and of course Gradius V. Also, I could be wrong, but I think they had something to do with Wario World on the GCN... never played that one.

  • @TheCuddlyKnife Yes correct on all ends. Konami should hire TREASURE to do Contra V and Castlevania V, it would be fitting since they did Gradius V, but I think TREASURE may not be in the mood since developing Castlevania Sequels for Konami was the Straw that broke the camels back that made them leave in the first place. Castlevania Adventure GAMEBOY and SNES SUPER Castlevania 4 YAAAAIIEEII!!! Treasure is born.

  • @stringanime That's really interesting stuff, seeing how 'vania IV is my favorite Castlevania, Contra 3 is my favorite Contra, Gradius V is the best shmup I've ever played. Treasure team has some talent, for sure. Thanks for the history lesson. Good stuff.

  • I love Treasure The Game Developer Company they are awesome and I love their ROnald McDonald game. it is amazing.

  • @TheSweetKnight I agree, Treasure is so amazing, they could take Hello Kitty and make an awesome Shooter or Brawler out of her.

  • Ranger X is my favorite game of all time.

  • @captainshiner3 That is amazing, Ranger X has so much variety in gameplay, It's visuals are detailed well animated, each Boss is unique and every Level as a different design with it's own set of rules.

  • Fuck me! Alien soldier is hte first Crysis lol

  • megadrive is a superior games console than the snes

  • @TheBazman111 I agree. Just about any game could be done on SEGA with the right talent behind the creation. I expecially like it that having SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive out in the Game Market provided a place where 2nd and 3rd Party developers could have a start and get noticed. IE : TREASURE was formed out of former Konami Staff Programmers and Artists. They got sick of making Contra and Castlevania and other popular games and wanted to do their own thing.

  • @stringanime

how could one ever get sick of making contra and castlevania games? lol

  • @mistermajestyck Very funny. TREASURE staff apparently did. Staff Members at TREASURE Make Contra and Castlevania for SNES and Gameboy, then formed TREASURE to make my Favorite games of all time. #1 is Advance Guardian Heroes for me.

  • Check out my renditions of Buggy Run & Sonic Schoolhouse!

  • Contra fucking sucks

  • @TheBazman111 All Contras? or Just this one?

  • @TheBazman111 ALL OF THEM

  • It's Contra Hard Corps. The word Corps is pronounced core like an army corps you wouldnt call a corpse so the game title is basically making a joke saying its hardcore.

  • i am a master of contra hard corps, aka probotector md

. [after 10 years of trail n error, i know exactly when and where to move, stand, and shoot]

  • @skipsch Wow, that is Crazy. One of the more insane moments in Contra Hard Corpse is where you are trapped in that elevator with the Long legged walker.

  • @stringanime im not trying to brag or anything, .. i usually skip that part, but its totally a bitch. i finally figured out how to beat the secret stage, the end is so lame lol

  • This list proves that Treasure is THE Sega Genesis Company.

  • @GameMaster600VG If it weren't for TREASURE, I would have very few reasons to like the SEGA GENESIS more than the SNES

  • i have contra :D its an amazing game ;)

  • I think it was a pretty good list but Sonic should of been somewhere, even number 10, but apart from that it was a good list but you did actually have a lot of shooters!

  • i have a sega mega drive :D

  • @argeon100 I have a Mega Drive Converter so that I can enjoy Mega Drive games here in the USA. If it weren't for my Converter and the Store that Sold import games, I would not have ever gotten my fav game for it, Alien Soldier. I have the Japan version as well as the European version.

  • great list, nobody knows Ranger X, it's a impresive run-n-gun game

what do you think about Thunder Force IV?, the game is the finest example of a 16 bit shootemup, has the most impressive BGM ever in the Genesis system, check out!

  • @manuelink64 Yeah, I own Thunderforce 2, 3, 4. I really enjoyed 4, very hard and very exciting. Because I grew up with the SEGA Master System and then SEGA Genesis, I have a fondness for Thunderforce 2, However it is mostly due to Nostalgia seeing as it was the 3rd Genesis game I owned. The whole Thunderforce series can be used to see how the SEGA Genesis games Evolved.

  • great list, nobody knows Ranger X, it's a impresive run-n-gun game

what do you think about Thunder Force IV?, the game is the finest example of a 16 bit shootemup, has the most impressive BGM ever in the Genesis ystem, check out!

  • In the Alien Soldier thing, Giant Enemy Crab (Genji 2) reference FTW. :D

  • I loved that McDonald's game as a child. But seriously... no Phantasy Star 4?

  • @WalnutPeanut My brother likes RPGs, Phantasy Star series and Strategy RPGs Shining Force. I never cared for them to play. I kinda like Lunar for SEGA CD but never finished it cause I got bored. I got nothing against RPGs or Phantasy Star 4, it's just that Phantasy Star 4 doesn't fit with the games I enjoyed. If it is any consolation I don't even like Poke'mon, BUT I do like Pulse Man for SEGA Genesis which was an Action game made by the people who made Pokemon.

  • I guess you like Treasure? I was shocked not to see Streets of Rage 2 on the list but everyone likes different games and the Genesis has a loaded library.

  • @Number1StarSB I like TREASURE's Games best. TREASURE was the main reason I felt so attached to SEGA for Many Years, but as we know, TREASURE is under the Wing of many Publishers now. I still remember going to 1992 E3 and Playing the Prototype of Streets of Rage 2, it Blew my Mind and was my Favorite game for a long time. I also saw Gunstar Heroes there as well but couldn't wrap my mind around it at the time. SIN AND PUNISHMENT STAR SUCCESSOR is my fav current gen game.

  • nicely done man ! Alien Soldier is THE BEST GAME on SEGA ! It's fucking unreal and not very easy to beat ! Awesome game ! I wish it got the credit it deserves like SONIC did ... but this game deserves so much more than SONIC i wish Alien Sodlier had as many chapters as SONIC does ! =/

  • IMO I think Sega Genesis/Mega Drive has got good graphics, good games and primitive sound. :) (or games have primitive sound)

  • @xnxn390 It does depend on what Samples are used for sound. It also depends on what generation of SEGA GENESIS System you play a game on. On later releases of the console SEGA cheapened the Sound board figuring they didn't need such great sound. I like the Sound track from my favorite Sound Tracks for SEGA are Alasia Dragoon, Dynamite Headdy, and Thunder Force 2

  • That Alien Soldier game looks awesome! I need to find a copy of it.

  • @Pnusk People hav been overpricing TREASURE games for a while. However u can get it on Wii VC.

  • Very good list.. Alien Soldier deserves the deserves the first place.. not to mention, the story was nice too

  • @sudhasff I more than just Contra on Steroids, Alien Soldier is Every Thing Run-and-Gun gaming is.

  • This list fucking sucks how can anyone include the attrocity ronald mcdonald in a top ten list, or ghostbusters that truly sucked plus treasure are not as good as people make out all there games are average at best. Top ten should be 10. toejam and earl panic on funkatron, 9. sonic 2, 8. musha, 7. phantasy star 2. 6. revenge of shinobi, 5. fantastic dizzy, 4, dragons fury, 3, arcus odysee, 2. micro machines 2 turbo challange, 1 streets of rage 2 with out doubt the greates game ever made period.

  • @TheBazman111 I thought toejam and earl 1 was better than 2 because my favorite part of the game was finding all the gifts and labeling them properly, Part two took that out so it wasn't much fun for me. sonic 2 is cool, however I still prefer part one because it used speed sparingly, Sonic's strength was never his speed IMO, it was his level design, if all bout speed then it's all the same. Musha Rocks, I never wanna return to it after beating it. arcus odysee, R shinobi, streets Rage, r cool

  • @stringanime Sorry man man for saying the list fucking suck i dont think before i speak sometimes my bad.

  • @TheBazman111 I understand, I hav to be reminded all the time, it's just someone else's taste, it's ok. Haha. SEGA Gen had so many cool games and each Soooo different it seems I could make a Top 10 list for every theme 10 times over. Top Nostalgia, Top Retro, Top Arcade Action, Top Shooters, Top RPG, Top action, Top Graphics, Top Platformers, etc. Oh BTW Top Nostalgia for me would be Revenge of Shinobi, it really had that glorious Early SEGA Genesis feel while still able to compete today.

  • @TheBazman111 your list sux more !!! than this one to be honest ! Streets of rage 2 = No 1 !?! Give me a break !!! =DDD

  • some of these games are absolutely nuts. headaches and seizures all around! nah jst messin' these are some sick nasty examples of games i've never had the chance to play and they should all be brought back somehow so i can.

  • Alisia Dragoon is cool, no doubt, but for this matter Valis 3 is unbeatable. As for MacDonalds representing the platform shooter, well... Decap Attack and Strider are real thrillers. Good selection anyway.

  • That's an excellent selection for your top ten my friend. Even though my top ten differs somewhat from yours, I cannot deny that all the games you chose to list are amazing games.

  • @markstevens36 Thanks. Weird Bosses is a Weird Topic for a top 10. Should we focus on Gameplay Weirdness or Boss design Weirdness? Is One Bosses Weirdness based on obscurity in general or obscurity in relation to the world we are presented within a game? IE: Is Splatter House's Poltergeist is weird in general, but not in it's world

  • very very nice list. thanks for showing us actual gameplay then just showing the box cover, and nice to see the underrated genesis games. it's also nice you used annotations instead of putting commentary from a low quality mic over the gameplay sounds.

  • Dude I'm so glad you put Shinobi 3 cause I think it was one of the best Genesis Games EVER! Had amazing game play cool enemies and a damn good soundtrack!

  • @mrkrinkle699 Shinobi 3 was great with its air combat kicking, running sword slashing wall jumping ceiling gripping, horse riding, and hover board surfing, all which improved the gameplay of the Shinobi series immensely. I guess SEGA used a different development house after that one, but you'd think whoever it was that did develop it, would hav kept such amazing staples of the Shinobi series. personally I'd like to see TREASURE develop a Shinobi with SEGA's cooperation.

  • @SillyHomeMovies unfortunatly tresaure dont exsist anymore they were bought out by sega

  • Good list, thanks for not putting Sonic games in, there okay, but there really overrated and too easy, you can just run through everything throughout 75% of the game as long as you grab 2 or 3 rings when you get hit.

  • @Xinn2000 You were marked as Spam for that! Haha...Some sonic fans, I tell ya. SEGA never explored the possibilities with sonic Gameplay. Look at Alex Kidd in Miracle World's Castles, every Dungeon can be explored and using Alex's abilities you escape Death Trap after Death trap. Scrap Brain Zone and Marble Zone in Sonic 1 are two of my Favorite Sonic Levels ever. As for 3D games, I always loved Windy Valley, it had that variety that was good in a Sonic game... Meh who cares right?

  • DUDE! i used to play almost all these games and i havent seen them in years.

  • Alien Soldier.i have yet to own it. I hate myself for not having a copy of it yet.

  • @Chepito2846 It is a nice game. If you got a Wii, you can download it, I did twice HAHA! STUPID EBAY set pricing. Seriously? 120-300 bucks for Alien Soldier??? I bought my Japan version for 60 bucks because I pre-ordered it back in 1995, later I got the Pal version for 30. If felt stupid for paying so much because I never believed the value would go up so high. Don't worry, if you wait long enough eventually these Jerks setting rediculous prices on A.S. will have to lower it.

  • @stringanime i know, the prices are just insane.i mean i havent seen a copy less than 100. ill just wait a couple more months to see if they lower the price. but damn its worth every penny.

  • @Chepito2846 You ought to be able to get one for 30, 49 TOPS! It is true, in quality not quantity, Alien Soldier ought to be priced High, but our system of collection is based on Supply, perhaps a lot of demand sprang up and a lot of supply said "OH you want this!!! Sure take it! FOR 100 bucks MUHAHAHA!" Good for you to wait, Don't fall for it. I hav noticed though, Alien Soldier is one of those games that Emulators hav issue playing Right. So a Wii VC or Actual Copy definitely is Best.

  • Hell Yeah LIGHT CRUSADER was the best game i have ever played on the genesis and the Music was One of the best tunes i have evr heard in a video game!!! GREAT TOP 10!!!! My Top 10 1.Gunstar Heroes 2.Castlevania Bloodlines 3.Contra Hard Corps 4.Streets of Rage 2 5.Sonic 3 & Knuckles 6.Revenge of Shinobi 7.Light Crusader 8.RocketKnight Adventures 9.Dynamite Headdy 10.Super Street Fighter 2
  • @Chepito2846 oooo, that's a nice list! I wish Alien Soldier was 2 player like Gunstar, if TREASURE ever makes another Gunstar, it's gotta be 4 player YEEEAAAH! I agree ROCKET KNIGHT is better than Sparkster. Castlevania was amazing, wish there had been more Castlevanias for SEGA, it really showed me that we barely scratched the surface of the SEGA. I encourage more people to share their unconventional tastes. I don't care if their Number one is DARK CASTLE! It's gotta be someone's. SHARE IT!

  • @stringanime Yes dude.Treasure really made us Genesis owners proud and Gunstar Heroes Will always be Number 1 on my list. That Continue Screen still gives me goosebumps!!!!

  • @Chepito2846 True Story, I was all set to buy Aladin for SEGA, then when I got to the store, my older brother pointed out in an EGM that Gunstar Heroes got straight 9's and is 2 Player. I took a chance with a game I had little known about, I chose Gunstar. I was then convinced that there was more going on in the Gaming industry than just Publishers, Developers became the selling point for games to me. I was so close to buying mediocracy, and because I trusted my brother, I got to taste better.

  • @stringanime What an amazing story, something similar happened to me,but i chose a different game over Gunstar Heroes because i was stupid at the time.the reason is because the cover didnt convince me at the time so i left it alone.then a year later,My mother rented Gunstar Heroes, but i wanted Sonic 3 at the time.So i got mad and then i said, let me give it a try.Few minutes into the game,I immediately fell in love with the game. And till this day it remains number 1 on my list.Ive yet to own A.S.

  • @Chepito2846 Wow, yeah the Back of Gunstar's box doesn't inspire anything. All of TREASURE's games must be seen in motion to be appreciated. That is why Final Fantasy or Chrono Trigger could never be my pick for best Visuals(still sprites?) on SNES, SPARKSTER is. For an SNES game, SPARKSTER has real impressive Multi-jointed rigged animated enemies. However between SPARKSTER and ALIEN SOLDIER, ALIEN SOLDIER is the better game visually, but Seven Force will always be King of 16 Bit Bosses.

  • @stringanime Well said man,Well said:)

  • 1:31 SAY WHAT? YOU PREFER WHAT? WHAT THE FUCK, MAN?

Contra Hard Corps is the best Contra game EVER made. THE BEST. EVER. All SNES bitchy fanboys can suck it, really hard.

You did only focus on the most revolutionary games for the Genesis, i mean, Alien Soldier is cool, and thou there is a lot in there i havent played, there is no way you can make a top 10 Genesis games without Streets of Rage, Comix Zone, Ristar, Sonic 3 and Golden Axe.

Sry didnt mean to be a prick, nice list of games you did.

  • @caioenzo Haha, you hav a strange mixture of puking at my list while complimenting me on it. I loved Streets of Rage 1 and 2 (Pre-ordered them and think they are better than Final fight and Double Dragon Combined, but really only good for Nostalgia now.), Comix Zone (I really find the Graphics cool but the game is kinda boring), Ristar (you have a good point with that one. If I could also add another it would be PulseMan), Sonic 3 (yeah, I pre-ordered every Sonic, but Nah) Golden Axe (Nostalgia)

  • Hell no.. this is what i think the top 10 games are... sonic 2 sonic 3 and knuckles streets of rage 2 rocket knight adventures altered beast golden axe 2 shinobi comic zone gunstar heroes venter man 2
  • @Orochifinikusu Nice list, However I think Streets of Rage 2 is my fav on your list. Also, Which Shinobi are you talking about ? Revenge, Super, Shadow Dancer, 3? Back in the 90's I started importing a lot so I was exposed to a lot more games than others, this is why my list may come off as weird. While people were taking down the badies in Vectorman, I was blasting my way through Alien Soldier, a game that when I showed it off to people in stores, they thought it was Playstation.

  • i just noticed that the sega genesis has better graphics than super nintendo! they're crisper, clearer, not choppy at all, beautiful and detailed. super nes had more choppier graphics, but it had better music on it's games.

  • @CHAOSin8bits The Sega had a higher Resolution but I like the FM chip sound for SEGA in a lot of it's games audio. Good example is SEGA Thunder Force 3 vs SNES Thunder Spirits, I prefer the SEGA Audio, but in Sparkster, I like the Sound of the SNES version. Sometimes I feel like a nut and sometimes I don't.

  • very good vid but i would have squeezed in bloodlines and sonic 3. but why in the holy mother of fuck would you not include rocket knight adventures?! it has a large varietey of gameplay styles, it has smooth controls, perfect difficulty, and it's good some good bosses.

  • @CHAOSin8bits Yeah, I love those games. Rocket knight 1 is a classic, I was blown away when I first saw it at. I know it is bitchy of me, but the 100% pattern nature of the levels and bosses kinda kept it out of my list. I realize there is always some sort of pattern and set of Moves a boss has, but The Rail level comes to mind and the Giant Robot chasing you , and the Space level where you race those Invincible enemies. It is all fun in the end, but learning those patterns weren't the best.

  • @CHAOSin8bits I love those games. Rocket knight 1 is a classic, I was blown away when I first saw it at. • What it Blast Processing? Also, what is THE definatave best Genesis/Megadrive game.

Sonic 3D had the best graphics for a Genesis game though.

  • @Kousaburo Blast Processing is a made up term by SEGA, in order to say the SEGA has a very fast CPU processor. Sonic 3D Blast Moves Robotic and Stiff and is not as appealing looking as traditional 2D for me. I prefer Hand Drawn art. Alien Soldier is the best SEGA Genesis game. However a lot of people would say Sonic 3 or Sonic 2 are the best SEGA games. However you cannot have a definatave Best, it is all opinion and taste, and there is no accounting for taste.

  • @FrankStringini So Blast Processing is just like Snake Oil?

Anyway I do think that the graphics in S3D are near enough the pinacle of Genesis graphics, stiff animation on Sonic aside the psuedo 3D rendering is top notch and must have taken a technical miracle to acomplish. Traditional 2D can look amazing though, it just all depends what's done with it like in Contra: Hard Corps.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is my favourite, as for Alien Soldier I'll definately give it a try.

  • @FrankStringini You were right about Alien Soldier.

  • Alien soldier is pretty good , but it's impossible on the hard mode , and in the easy mode u don't even take damage...

  • @reggiardito I guess that is why they call it "Super Easy" and "Super Hard."

The only difference I can tell between the two, is on Super Hard the Bosses' life is longer, there is no Slow-mo Mode and you only get 3 continues. Then again, I have not played it on Super Easy in a long time...Been playing Advance Guardian Heroes, Astro Boy Omega Factor and Gunstar Super Heroes a lot on my Wii Homebrew GBA Emulator.

  • @stringanime Yes i know , i've been able to beat it on Hard mode , but for fuck's sake. It's hard. It has to be the hardest Genesis game of all time.

  • @stringanime great list better than the games today!!!

  • Before you guys write off the Ronald McDonald game JUST because it's a Ronald McDonald game, you should actually like, you know, play it first.

It's fucking awesome. I was quite surprised. But knowing that it's from Treasure I shouldn't be.

  • @kingboobs20 Yes, for those of you who do not know, TREASURE is an incredibly talented game Development house, that pretty much could take a game about BARBIE, TELE-TUBBIES, and Hello Kitty and turn it into a bad ass action game. Treasure makes it their prerogative making fun variety and unique gameplay that is rooted in classics such as Contra 3, Castlevania 4 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the Arcade game. So a fun Challenging action Platformer with Ronald McDonald, is pretty easy to do.

  • excellent list, really makes me wanna experience the games for myself

  • I respect your opinion on contra 3 but for me it was completely outclassed by hard corps. You have 4 different playable characters, multiple branching paths, alternate endings, various types of weapons and like you said, boss power. Looking back at 3 compared to all that hard corps had to offer it seemed abit bare in the long run but still to its credit having a lasting experience.

  • @motherplayer I would agree, Contra Hard Corps is flat out, more game. It is more of a development Team preference. The people that made Contra 3, did not make Hard Corps. Rather they (Star Team) broke up, their key people left Konami and formed their own Company, TREASURE. I liked Star Teams vision of Contra better, it seemed "plump." Too bad Konami doesn't ask TREASURE to develop CONTRA V. They also did Super Castlevania 4, and you can see the similar style of game in Contra 3.

  • @stringanime Oh yeah I know all that with star team leav9ing in favor of making their own company. I also noticed how different the experience with contra 3 leaning to a more tradition experience while hard corps was more a very sucessful experimentation.

  • @motherplayer Also, I cannot help but wonder what Treasure would do with Contra now. Perhaps by insisting that Contra 3 was better, those words may echo to Konami and someone may say, "Hey Contra 3 was good, Star Team is no more, Contra Hard Corps was great, but let's see what Treasure would do." Wishful thinking...But hey! I bought 2 copies of Sin and Punishment at launch, I bought 2 Downloads of Sin and Punishment for VC, and look what my efforts got me Sin and Punishment Star Successor!

  • @stringanime You should do a top 10 Genesis co op.

  • how is phantasy star 4 or sonic 2 on here?

  • @MasterMonsters They aren't on here because it is my list. Those are both great games, and SEGA Gens had so many great games, I could write a dozen Top Tens for it.

  • Great list and presentation!

  • Sega was the best console in the world!!! 4Ever

  • @hafankeks Yes it IS.

  • @hafankeks Sega is not a console.

  • @JBOPatrick Well he meant the Genesis...

  • @JBOPatrick and what is it then?

  • You are aware of the fact that the McDonald's game was made by Treasure, right? Of course there is diversity and innovations!!

  • @MarioNintendoh Yes, I even own the Japan version of Ronald McDonald in Treasureland (LOL at some changes). A lot of people just see a cheesy attempt to advertise, but they miss the aspect of the game just having more variety and imagination than most games. Not to mention the fact that last thing you think of while playing, is eating at McDonald's, but that is me. The design is great and although I have seen better Lisensed games from TREASURE, it's still awesome. Play Sin and Punishment 2 yet?

  • @stringanime Yup! Bought it on day 1. Treasure pretty much owns my wallet. :P

  • yea i was thinking about making my own top tens but nothing untill i fix my computer...couse i cant make videos on my ps3 right now and also for some reason i cant reply om other comments...

  • dude you deserve to go to hell. You chose mcdonalds over rocket knight adventures wow fat ass.

  • @OrinjFlames24 I think McDonald's is an awesome game, better than Rocket Knight and Sparkster if they were sold in one cartridge. However, I am really interested....How should a list go? It's ok, I am just asking your opinion, and I will not sentence you to hell for it haha! Seriously, give me your Top most re-playable games. Or Top Most impressive (which I would have Rocket Knight on as number 8, and no Mcdonalds), or your top 10 most Nostalgic. Pick a category and tell me please.

  • mo sonic?yes i read the description but...dude u cant make a top ten genesis games list without sonic...and earthworm jim was awesome...i only agree with contra on this list...

  • @MotherPunker970 P totally understand, you definitely like Sonic I can tell. Hey I like Sonic also...Sonic 1 is my Fav. It was so simple and yet so new at the time. I like most every Sonic Game. I am even looking forward to Sonic Colors. Sonic though, isn't as re-playable for me. If I had a Top Ten Most Nostalgic Favs, Sonic would be Number 10 for sure, Number 1 being Thunder Force 2. Sonic 3 would be number 7 of Top 10 most Impressive. I noticed you don't have videos, Why not make a Top 10 SEGA

  • @Pro21xx Rocket Knight is a pretty amazing game, I remember seeing it and feeling like FINALLY Nintendo isn't gonna hog Konami. I didn't know that key members of Konami left and Formed their own company called TREASURE. I hate that stage where the Robot follows you, or that part where the invincible Knights are running and if you aren't fast enough they kill you no questions asked, or that part when you have to ride the Roller coaster and Jump from Cart to cart and duck at the right time.

  • @Pro21xx Once in a great while someone such as yourself comes along and can appreciate the unique care Treasure and several others put into their games for SEGA. Unfortunately, aside from Treasure, not a lot of teams have stuck together.

Gley lancer = I have heard the Music, but never played, I will check it out.

Eliminate down = I may have to look that one up..5 minutes later= Damn, that game doesn't mess around, surprises everywhere!

and musha= Got it, beat it, I also have Robo Aleste SEGA CD

  • Man, you must really like Treasure Games.

  • @TheNintendoviews They are my Favorite game Developer, I like their games best. I base my choice of which system to buy, based upon which system TREASURE will make games for. So obviously I own a Wii. SIN AND PUNISHMENT 2 FTW !

  • very nice list, it makes me want to buy some games off of amazon

  • ever played rocket knight adventures?

  • @CHAOSin8bits Rocket Knight is one of my Favorites, but it has some parts that are so....uhhhh....Memory based, and often I find those parts frustrating to learn and once you learn them and perform them perfectly, it seems kinda boring. I am not saying the game is boring, it's just that I really like the Parts where you can Blast into a ton of enemies at any angle and take them all out, and I don't like the Parts that require specific timing or you Die.

  • i have about 250 gen games on a cd and i totaly aggre with ur list

  • I dont agree with you about sonic not able to show the system's processor, the mega drive had a specific process for fast smooth scrolling which sonic takes full advantage of.

  • @StRoRo You are right, I will change that, I should have said Alien Soldier pushes the SEGA Proccessor Harder than Sonic. There are scattered Moments where SEGA's Power house Slows down a tad in Alien Soldier.

  • Great video dude! Did they release Alasia Dragoon in the US? I can't seem to find it on eBay. Looks awesome. Ranger X is definitely an overlooked gem. Light Crusader and Alien Soldier both look cool. Never heard of those two.

  • @vintagevideogamegeek Ironically Alasia Dragoon actually DID come out in the USA about the same time as Castlevania 4 for SNES in the early 90's. I had a thing for Anime girls back then, I was always looking for anything japan looking that played great. I used to justify my SEGA Genesis' lack of Castlevanias by that game to my Nintendo Friends. Light crusader did come to the States, doesn't it remind you of the Immortal in it's Presentation? It has that European Amiga adventure game look.

  • @stringanime Alasia must be a rare title then. Never played Immortal so I can't really say.

  • @vintagevideogamegeek Yeah, and The Immortal is an Isometric view adventure/action game with spells, the SEGA Genesis version had INCREDIBLE death scenes well worth looking at, but the gameplay is stiff and just not as Arcade Pick up and play as Light Crusader

  • no bloodlines?

    no megaman: the wily wars?

    no pulseman?

    no mega turrican?

    no earthworm jim?

    no sonic 3?

  • @CHAOSin8bits you got me on Pulseman. Pulseman ought to have been on here somewhere, but alas I can only have 10. as for the rest, I cannot permit them on my list. Sonic 1 would make it on before Sonic 3, as crazy as that may sound.

  • @stringanime that's not crazy. sonic 1 might not have as good of gameplay, but it has some of the best video game music ever! stage by stage, the music gets catchier!

  • This JUST hit me. Is ALIEN SOLDIER made by SEGA or Treasure? Or just licenced?

  • @SonicKusanagi181 TREASURE all the way. I wish the game was more popular on Wii Virtual Console, then perhaps it would get a sequel like Sin and Punishment did.

  • @stringanime Great! Its sad how i never played ALIEN SOLDIER Before

  • @SonicKusanagi181 I am an American, and I happen to start Playing imports back in the 90's so I am among few here to hav owned it then, but Europe and Japan enjoyed it. I think that is how it got a release on Wii Virtual COnsole. Not to put down Vectorman but it came out at the same time, and I know Vectorman is and was very popular, but the fact that I was playing something different and better IMO, it really put a division between my tastes and Mainstream Opinion which forms the industry.

  • @stringanime I look forward to downloading it

  • @SonicKusanagi181 If you hav a Wii I advice buying it, for some reason Graphic Glitches are here and there on Emulators..... You can just play Genesis games here over the internet, no downloading...Here is a direct link to Alien Soldier, If you just wanna try it out. "oldgamz.com" After that add this "/?p=884"

  • @stringanime what about sonic

  • @briafromxbox Yes sonic was left out, but if I could squeeze a sonic in, it would be Sonic 1.

  • This is a very good list; Gunstar Heroes and especially Dynamite Headdy are some of my favorite games ever made, the variety they contain is almost unmatched by the majority of games. And Contra Hard Corps is kickass. Did you know they're making a prequel for XBLA?

  • @KrazyScruffy9001 Yeah, I wonder if Konami will hire people who understand the series and where to take it forward. It would be a shame for it to be inferior in every way except Graphics. My Fav Contra has always been Contra 3. The way the levels and Bosses were designed, it almost felt like a movie. But I know the guys who made Contra 3 left Konami years ago, so perhaps it will be cool anyway.

  • @stringanime It looks a lot different and even has a different art style (2d characters in a 2.5D world) you even get a health bar, which thankfully is just in one of the modes.

I remember coming THIS close to beating Contra 3 at the Final Boss but I lost my last continue. Needless to say I wasn't too happy XD

  • this gunstar game, I think the credit is the same as metal slut.
