I don't really get why people hate Sansa so much. She's a naïve teenager who's blinded by the romance of marriage and ladyship, yes, and she realizes her mistake, but that's called a character flaw. You're kind of supposed to have one.
I hate Sansa, but on the other hand I like how she is portrayed because it seems so realistic. She isn't weak-- she's a little girl. Sure a lot of novels lead us to believe that Sansa should be able to pick up a sword and stop the headsman, or at least be clever enough to know she is being used, but in reality there is only so much a young girl who has always dreamed of pageantry and honor, living her whole life in a remote castle, is capable of.
I honestly enjoy the Sansa chapters because they offer a differing sight into Kings Landing apart from Cercsei and Tyrion. Sort of a new perspective into the intrigue of court politics via the viewpoint of a young teenage girl.
I don't like Sansa, she has no real personality, she only repeat the etiquette stuff she learned from the septa. She also stupid and in a way, she's more immature than Arya.
@xxlCortez I wouldn't condemn Sansa as a weak (and certainly not BORING) character. In the series, once you're born a Stark, you're destined to be a raging badass. The whole point is to see her mature emotionally (it's called character development), and you can't mature unless you were immature to begin with.
@AnahSkywalker I hope you're referring to Tommen and not Aegon. IMO Aegon exceeds all others as the best contender for the kingship of westeros. He's intelligent, bold, and courageous, like his father Rhaegar before him. He's not mad like most of his Targaryen ancestors. It would be interesting to see if my Aegon-Sansa theory is fullfilled in Winds of Winter or a Dream of Spring. I would also like to see Sansa turn into a badass and kill some Lannisters and Freys.
After Aegon conquers the Stormlands, he's going to take the Vale and make Sansa his mistress or even lover, just as his ancestor Rhaegar did with Lyanna.
I hated Sansa in book 1 for various reasons (putting Joffrey ahead of her own family for one). A part of me was kind of happy to see her get her comeuppance in book 2 and 3 but mostly I just felt sorry for her. However in book 4 and 5 I actually started to like her.
@HansHugoSarah she blabed because she thought her father was trying to destroy her dream without any reason. You can't blame her for wanting to marry a charming prince, considering her age. Ned didn't explain her shit about the situation, so how was she supposed to know what was going on or that Cersei was her enemy? Besides, Ned should've known better than to tell Cersei he knew her secret as well.
Look, I love Ned, I just wish people would stop hating on Sansa for acting like a child she was.
@Haley452 the younger sister did know all about it and was more supporting then she ever could be in a way she wa after all older then the younger sister and should have relised early plus sems like at this reallity they are married younger or take more responsebility rather in real world. but i could say if they did finish the lanister off first season it would hhave been borring and the books would have stoped early rather later
@capixie If she was in our world she would definitely like Twilight, fan of Justin Bieber/Colbie Cailiat, love to bake lemon cakes. Her favorite movie would be so "my fair lady" etc.
@Haley452 I agree Sophie Turner truly does justice to Sansa's beauty. It is a double standard that people can put Nedd on high pedestal for his honorable ways, but completely crush Sansa down verbally.. And I have to disagree. For all she endures; from daily beating, emotionally and psychical abuse Sansa still holds her grace and dignity worthy of a queen, and does not break down ore develop the Stockholm Syndrome to Tyrion. Sansa is down right hardcore and has a spine of steel.
What I really don't get is how people who hate Sansa can love Ned at the same time, when she took all of her naivety after him! It was his naivety and his mistakes, not hers, that started the entire Stark tragedy in the first place.
They just both believed people are good. Neither knew the rules of the game of thrones, however Sansa might actually learn them soon if she doesn't get completely mad (considering the circumstances, I wouldn't be surprised if she turned metal eventually).
@Haley452 you are aware that when ned told sansa and arya they were leaving, sansa ran straight to the queen and told what was going on, so yeah, not neds fault for the "stark tragedy", and btw whoever ordered the kill on bran when he was in his bed actually started it (won't spoil it, but we get to know in book #3)
Of all the Stark characters, Sansa is the one I have the hardest time deciding whether I like.
One the one hand I can't call her unrealistic as I've met plenty of girls her age who behave the way she does. Plus she does stand up for her family when the chips are down and I can certainly sympathis when she essentially becomes Joffrey's prisoner.
However, she does undoubtedly have qualities that put her in a negative light, like her falling for Joffrey despite his arrogance.
My favorite of the stark family is arya for her strength and the way she sees the word. When she asked to her father why he would let sansa marry someone like joffrey he couldnt even answer. bran is next favorite followed by ned, jon, robb, catelyn. didnt like sansa since she was too vain living in a fairy tale world. But after what her prince is doing her, being trap in the middle of all those monsters, with no one to care about her, i couldn't help but feel sorry, and so now i like her.
@tychul i think she played her character perfect. No spoilers. I'm on the 4th book now. She's a very courteous/proper person. She is supposed a precocious girl on the verge of turning into a woman. 1st book she's very boring and predictable but the next season she is going to shine! i promise you. She will turn into your favorite character.
@velony yeah that back hand from Blount taught her NEVER to talk like that aloud again. Poor lil girl her stupidity n frivolity brought her unimaginable suffering.
people who hate sansa haven't read the books, that much i can say...i didn't like her in book1, i prefer Arya's type of personality, but in the next books, I'm learning the ways of politics and power from Sansa's pov and her character development is really good...she had to learn the hard way, she's a dreamer so reality was really hard for her! Arya had it worse but she's a fighter so she can take it, in fact she's very willing to learn~
@nikmys15 Because she is the polar of Arya: a girly girl naive young lady who loves dresses, lemon cakes and content of becoming a wife. Let alone the fact we will forget the fact the brilliant of political savy of potential this little girl has, and showing some awesome inner strength. They are simple haters.
Okay, I hated Sansa in the show. Now, I'm reading the first book and I hate her even more. She's so clueless. I know it's because she is young and naive but somehow I don't care. She's so annoying! haha
@phili666 I have read them all, including Dance with Dragons, my opinion about Sansa still hasn't changed. Infact, it may have gotten worse seeing the way she treated Tyrion in the third book.
this just shows how good the cast are. i think the audience are suppose to see sansa as this frail and vain girl who always rely on other, and sophie did a superb job portraying that. Kudos! Same thing w/ Joffrey. I hate Joffrey and i think a lot of ppl do, but if u end up liking him, well, let's just say the actor rly f-ed up, big time.
Sansa ist one of the characters that really learned her lessons the hard way. At first, I really disliked her character, but she turns out to be one of the most challenged. I'm exited to read what kind of woman she will become.
I always liked Sansa in the books. She's not stupid, she's just very naive. Over the course of the story she wises up and becomes a very strong character.
i don't think her acting is as strong as Bran and Arya's but it might be because her role is very easy to dislike i'll save my judgment till the second season
@kindahokey well id say shes a pretty hard role to pull off, obviously alot of people dislike her, yet she still maintains some innocense. and shes also so damn hot lol
Also, the scene in which she says "please, please, it's the only thing I ever wanted" annoys me so much everytime I watch it. It sounded like a spoiled kid asking her present for Christmas. You want to be the queen, no shit, bitch.
Great acting though. All the kids do their roles amazingly in this series.
I hated reading Sansa's chapters in the first book, her being the most boring, oblivious and self-centered of all the main characters... But I quite enjoyed her part in the second and third books (I'm still reading the third one, A Storm of Swords). She goes through a lot of character development not unlike Daenerys in the first book/season.
When you watch Sansa, it's easy to see why so many people really dislike her. I mean, she seems like an ignorant airhead. But reading the books, she is one of the strongest characters on the inside, despite being so conflicted with many situations.
@sassymouth41 She is pretty naive at start but she will mature and gets some wits eventually as all the young ones in the series will. Well those who survive that long ^^
@sassymouth41 Really? I read Game of Thrones, and knowing what went through her mind made me hate her all the more. " OOOH NO my father is no traitor but my sweet prince ooooh i'll dump away all my honor and call my own father a traitor like a bitch because Prince Joffrey is SOOOO hot".
Every time I reached a chapter that said "SANSA" at the title I was like 'AWW fucking hell, not HER again! I want another Eddard chapter!"
I'm not a Sansa fan either but keep on reading the next volumes and you'll see that she learns her lessons more and more and that makes her more bearable if not likeable.
@sassymouth41 I actually think the first season of GOT depicts her character quite well, to be honest she appears to be a bit of an airhead in the first book as well, and is even called stupid (can't remember the exact wording) by an old tyrell woman. I really recognize the girl from the first book in the series. She changed especially after her father died, and more and more in the second and third books. I'm sure it will be depicted in the upcoming seasons! She's one of my favs :)
@sassymouth41 i would say that in the first season, she is the same in both book and tv series, but as the books go on she becomes the strong young woman that u eventually begin to admire.
I know Joff is a complete asshole bastard (in the second case literally) but in my opinion he doesn't look that bad, I could see how Sansa would be attracted to him before his personality was shown.
I'M SORRY SANSA!! WE CAN CHOP OFF JOFFREYS MANHOOD AND FEED IT TO THE DONKEYS!!!!!!!!! AND THEN WE'LL PUNCH HIM IN THE FACE! DONT WORRI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
sansa stark has a very independent view of the world....ooookay...thats one way to say that shes a selfish, selfcentered airhead...sorry but i kinda cheerede when she was slapped in the face by the inbreed boyking, served her right. i hope she evolves into something greater in the next season, right now i disklike her a lot. the actress however is very good and looks beautiful^^
Sansa not that bad. In the first season/book she is very much a child seeing the world from a child's eyes. After Neds beheading and things that happen to her she really has to grow up fast. I'll just say that she has one of the best character development in the books and is quite likable eventually.
@TheVargr I don't like or hate her. Well actually she reminds me of those shallow girls out there but she doesn't give me much reason to passionately hate her like some ppl i know BUT
that doesn't hide the fact that she's mainly the reason why Ned died because of her naivety (based on the book)
@LOLinflames No Catylan Stark started everything,, shes a stupid bitch, she convinced Ned to go to Kings Landing,, Kidnapped Tyrion and started a war, and the shit she does in other parts of the later books but i wont spoiler it,, my point being shes a dope
@TheIrishMail well i think Cat is one of those characters that slightly act on impulse. She was enraged about the fact that someone tried to kill her son twice which is why she chose kidnap Tyrion without much proof. I also think Ned would have gone to King landing anyway as Hand of the king just because of his sense of "duty" to find justice for his old friend Arryn, Cat merely laid down all the cards for him. BUT Sansa's the one who ruined any hope of the three of them getting out of there
I think she just plays sansa so well, very gullible, little barbie girl princess who very harshly to realises what a monster her dream prince really is ...
I don't really get why people hate Sansa so much. She's a naïve teenager who's blinded by the romance of marriage and ladyship, yes, and she realizes her mistake, but that's called a character flaw. You're kind of supposed to have one.

@kindahokey well id say shes a pretty hard role to pull off, obviously alot of people dislike her, yet she still maintains some innocense. and shes also so damn hot lol

She's an airhead. She thinks Joffrey is her prince charming. Too late for her to back out when she ended up a sex toy by the cruel Lannister brat.

She goes through a lot of character development not unlike Daenerys in the first book/season.

i would

Gawd, Sophie Turner is just as vapid as Sansa. What a perfect big of casting.

There are like no bad actors in the Game of Thrones t.v series
Seriously if anyone says an adaptation of a book can't be done well I'll use this as an example (although most adaptions turn out shit)

def the MOST BORING character (the only one I daresay), both in the books and the series.
shoshenkis 5 months ago
Her eyes are crazily beautiful. They're almost silver.
SerGaToKaR 5 months ago
When you watch Sansa, it's easy to see why so many people really dislike her. I mean, she seems like an ignorant airhead. But reading the books, she is one of the strongest characters on the inside, despite being so conflicted with many situations.
sassymouth41 5 months ago 90
@sassymouth41 She is pretty naive at start but she will mature and gets some wits eventually as all the young ones in the series will. Well those who survive that long ^^
Boldermonkey 4 months ago
@sassymouth41 nope she's just stupid I fucking hate sansa
Akaecius 3 months ago
@Akaecius Maybe read the books, then make an opinion about one of the most intruiging characters, wich is her. The show makes her no justice.
Anathor1 3 months ago
@Anathor1 I read the books before I knew of the show. I still think she's a fucking faggot and I hate her.
Akaecius 3 months ago
@sassymouth41 Well she's one of my favourite characters! I way prefer her to Ayra.
cici2702 3 months ago
@sassymouth41 Really? I read Game of Thrones, and knowing what went through her mind made me hate her all the more. " OOOH NO my father is no traitor but my sweet prince ooooh i'll dump away all my honor and call my own father a traitor like a bitch because Prince Joffrey is SOOOO hot".
Every time I reached a chapter that said "SANSA" at the title I was like 'AWW fucking hell, not HER again! I want another Eddard chapter!"
And then he died. FUCK.
badkiller2 3 months ago 5
@badkiller2
I'm not a Sansa fan either but keep on reading the next volumes and you'll see that she learns her lessons more and more and that makes her more bearable if not likeable.
foroughshafiee 3 months ago
@sassymouth41 I actually think the first season of GOT depicts her character quite well, to be honest she appears to be a bit of an airhead in the first book as well, and is even called stupid (can't remember the exact wording) by an old tyrell woman. I really recognize the girl from the first book in the series. She changed especially after her father died, and more and more in the second and third books. I'm sure it will be depicted in the upcoming seasons! She's one of my favs :)
Knorner 3 months ago
@sassymouth41 I should add that the tyrell woman (the queen of thorns) calls her stupid in the steel and snow, not game of thrones.
Knorner 3 months ago
@sassymouth41 i would say that in the first season, she is the same in both book and tv series, but as the books go on she becomes the strong young woman that u eventually begin to admire.
AlexxAHS 2 months ago
I know Joff is a complete asshole bastard (in the second case literally) but in my opinion he doesn't look that bad, I could see how Sansa would be attracted to him before his personality was shown.

sansa stark has a very independent view of the world....ooookay...thats one way to say that shes a selfish, selfcentered airhead...sorry but i kinda cheerede when she was slapped in the face by the inbreed boyking, served her right. i hope she evolves into something greater in the next season, right now i disklike her a lot. the actress however is very good and looks beautiful^^
koppsr 5 months ago
shes breathtakingly beautiful to me...and its a natural beauty, which is the lasting kind.

@chykim1 Yeah, no kidding. She's only like 15, too. Just think how beautiful she'll be when she's of age!

Rammeup45 6 months ago
Sansa not that bad. In the first season/book she is very much a child seeing the world from a child's eyes. After Neds beheading and things that happen to her she really has to grow up fast. I'll just say that she has one of the best character development in the books and is quite likable eventually.
TheVargr 6 months ago 3
@TheVargr I don't like or hate her. Well actually she reminds me of those shallow girls out there but she doesn't give me much reason to passionately hate her like some ppl i know BUT
that doesn't hide the fact that she's mainly the reason why Ned died because of her naivety (based on the book)
LOLinflames 6 months ago
@LOLinflames No Catylan Stark started everything,, shes a stupid bitch, she convinced Ned to go to Kings Landing,, Kidnapped Tyrion and started a war, and the shit she does in other parts of the later books but i wont spoiler it,, my point being shes a dope
TheIrishMail 6 months ago
@TheIrishMail well i think Cat is one of those characters that slightly act on impulse. She was enraged about the fact that someone tried to kill her son twice which is why she chose kidnap Tyrion without much proof. I also think Ned would have gone to King landing anyway as Hand of the king just because of his sense of "duty" to find justice for his old friend Arryn, Cat merely laid down all the cards for him. BUT Sansa's the one who ruined any hope of the three of them getting out of there
LOLinflames 6 months ago
@TheIrishMail
She's also a horrid bitch to Jon Snow.

I think she just plays sansa so well, very gullible, little barbie girl princess who very harshly to realises what a monster her dream prince really is ...
