I put a lock-rite in the front on my Jeep. It's pretty nice since you can't even tell it's there in 2wd, but it absolutely shines off-road in 4wd. I wouldn't put an auto locker in the rear since it's daily driven with a manual transmission.
@fx4wannabe01 I used the Lock right. I had to take it off because I didn't need it any more, if you want to buy it, I could not 150 off the original price. (its got only about 500 miles on it)
@03Ranger4x2 - Nah...no thanks. I've got an Aussie Locker in mine which essencially is twins to the Lock Right. I regret it quite a bit....shoulda went selectable from the get-go. DDing an auto-locker equipped truck with a manual sucks. But everytime I go out and play, I'm reminded why I've yet to remove it! lol.
Hey man. If you plan on doing a ton of offroading, than good choice. It helps SOOOO MUCH my truck was going with 4x4's, and in many places, going farther. Unfortunately I couldn't take the slow driving I had to do on road so I took it off. You have to coast around sharper corners otherwise it will lock up and make the whole truck sound like its breaking. What kind of locker did you get it may be ok.
yup go 4wd.. i have a 93 ranger with the 4.0L V-6 5 speed which is 4x4 and its nice.. mine's got 257,700 kms on it so im looking to get a newer ranger (07-09) or an F-350. my truck is stock added a cheap chrome exhaust tip on it but thats it. i have a heavy foot so its not so good on gas and i have a set of 31 inch all terrains on it right now which are coming off here pretty quick and putting the stockers back on as the 31's arent mine.

I had the same one just the extened cab version and that was the best vehicle i ever own. manual inline 4 with 8 plugs (figure that one out)

Want to put a lock rite in my 02 F150. Doesn't see much snow and mostly sees asphalt at speeds above 40mph.

@zapityzapzap Honestly, I would get a good limited slip. The ratcheting sucks on the pavement. Its actually violent at times.

Do you like the locker? Hows it do off road? I just bought one for 100 bucks and plan on installing it in a couple days.

now i have a '?' where do u stand on the 4x2 and 4x4 line. im unsure wat to get! thx
jeepoffroad12345 2 years ago
get a 4x4, its just easier. If you build a 4x2 like I did, you can make them good, but 4x4 just come good.
03Ranger4x2 2 years ago
