Oh really? So you are saying that this Index called IMR cannot be used as a comparison between different countries of differing total population. So either you are wrong about the effect of total population in the calculation of IMR or the WHO is wrong. Have you noticed that the denominator in IMR is the total number of livebirths and not the total population of a country? If that is so, can you explain how the total population affects the calculation ???

So lets compare India and China. China is more populous than India but then the IMR of china is 16 vs 50 for India. Again it proves your understanding about IMR is wrong, cos total population has no effect on the calcuation of IMR !

@usr027 it doesnt really matter what formula one uses to calculate IMR, the simple fact is that WHO, the ONLY valid source for international infant mortality, has USA IMR at a very low count, much lower then Dubai, Qatar and Leinchstein. Leinchsteins IMR is low but its MUCH higher then USA, if failed government means more IMR then i hope our government fails like Leinchstein!!! [sarcasm].
