If it makes you feel any better, the Billings, MT sirens didn't go off until the tornado had been on the ground a full four minutes this past Father's Day. They only went off after eye witnesses started calling 911.
My best guess at 2:24 where you see the curned califlower black cloud on the right side there is a rain curtain there. Any tornado would have likely been within that rain curtain as the drier air (Or RFD as it is known in weather industry) Is coming in behind it (The bright clear slot in the sky on the left_)
Thats scary but at least you guys had a place to go. I was at Clippers game in 2006 when bad storms moved in the area. everyone evacuated into the concourse as the sirens started sounding but no one knew where to go. Finally some supervisor guy made all the women and children evacuate to the restrooms. and told everyone else to get in a crouched position against a wall or on one of the ramps leading up to the field. Some guy did get hit by a rolling trash can i do remember as the winds picked up
I am the weather spotter who sighted the funnel in Columbus Ohio. It passed over the intersection of route 161 and sawmill road. had incredible rotation but thankfully never touched down, otherwise we would have had serious injuries from all the people being out looking at it.
i live in kansas city me and my step dad were out chasing this same day in the kansas city metro area when the sirens went off in bonner springs "the town we were in" sudenly the power lines behind us snapped and fell as we then saw a cloud of debreis and dust maybe 100 -200 feet away from the car. so we floor it and get are asses out of there the torando that me and my fellow chaser william reported would later go on to cause ef-3 damage on the other side of the metro area.
I live near there, I live in Deleware county in Lewis Center me and my parents stood outside the whole time looking for a funel and I never did see the tornado, disapointing that would have been an awesome video.
I've been pretty disappointed with Delaware County's emergency notification procedures. They have a Reverse 911 that ended up sending the message a half hour after the warning was issued and didn't have time to call everyone it was supposed to. The county needs to move forward with installing sirens and more people need to purchase their own NOAA weather alert radio. Nice video by the way. Watch my video response to see what we saw in Lewis Center.
here in arkansas, we had an f3 tornado on may 10, 2008

Thanks for the info. I didn't realize it had been that close. Was that the one spotted at 1:16? How long and wide was it?
