We tend to have a fear against any idea that my "damage" the allready existing one. It is not as that desperate as I put it but for some cases (like religion) it is. Where are you from by the way? I read some time ago that the term "Limey" is rooted in the practice of limes and other citrus fruit being stored and consumed on British sailing vessels to prevent scurvy among British sailors. I suppose ships of other countries did the same, but somehow the term "Limey" came to be used to refer to British sailors and eventually to Brits in general.

The term yank comes from the song "Yankee Doodle" used by the British as an insult of the Americans but then used by Americans a sort of national song.

It's really just one of those terms that is used to describe Americans, but Americans themselves rarely use... similar to the term "pommy" to describe Englishmen, (at least in Australia).

Now I don't particularly understand why that information seems needed, considering it has nothing to do with the video but there you go...
