I think if the child was 16 with a consent from their parents it shouldn't be a problem. Now for a 10 year old, that's just wrong. I mean where does she put her foot down on? It's just like telling her kid to do drugs or something. I mean yes I understand that they did lose a blood relative such as his brother/ son. But come on. He's just a child and being a mother. I don't want to judge her motherly skills, but that's just wrong.
this is foolishness! Hopefully she will realize that no matter who's opinion is given GA LAW SAYS NO! So that should have been her reply. "NO, and besides the law says 18 and up in our state" #next!
The person who did the tat should be fined and punished but the mom should take some parenting classes or something. I don't think she knew it was wrong and that's scary that she has no sense of what is appropriate for kids.
Why is the mom being charged? Shouldn't the tattoo shop that tattooed her son take some responsibility for their own mistake. Why didn't they refuse service to begin with??? Almost everyone whose 18 should have valid ID. Frankly, I don't think it's that serious. This is ridiculous, the tattoo shop should have been charged...not the mother. And frankly, it's not that big of a deal...the police should be out looking for sex predators, and abusive parents, instead of 10 year olds with tattoos.
I brought this up in my debate group and no one had a problem with what she did. They thought it was a bit misguided but not an arrestable or terribly wrong offense. I think I would permit it in an inconspicuous place only if he wanted it and after telling him that it's permanent and really impressing on him the fact that it's dangerous, etc. Even still, I might strongly encourage that he hold off until he's old enough to make that decision, or even introduce other ways to pay homage.
i dont think she should lose custody because of this...you still need a guardians permission to get tattted at the age of 17 there still children also...should their parents lose custody too??? I totally agree that he is ENTIRELY too young for a tattoo but a fact is a fact! She already lost a son and now she's losing a child to the system because of a tattoo memorial of her deceased son???omg BULLSHIT
Children are having children, the government are the new parents. The are the real child abusers and child rapist, and this destroyed the the family unit. What happen to the father, where is his say?
The government destroyed the family and now school, cps, and law are out too get your children with money londering racket and coning and charges for profit. Parents need to the truth to their children, and lead by example. I disagree with the "Do as I say, not as I do" type parenting needs to stop
homegrown tattoos...here we call them "tattoo parties." i never got that but ti I agree with u once again on your opinion. i love your videos and I agree that it is just a mess to put a tattoo someone that young whether they want it or not.
Wow this is a good one. I been on both sides of the fence losing my own daughter when she was 3 years old to a drunk driver. I think if my kids came to ask me if they could get one I would have offered a diffrent way to express it maybe like this way w w w. youtube. com / watch?v = QhoJEFbZ2Fk this is a way to make a fake tattoo and it looks just like a real one and no one can tell the diffrence. I feel for the mom but needs to search for other ways to help her son cope with the loss.
Parents are to make those sound decisions for their children that they can`t make on their own. Allowing a child to get a tattoo at such a young age speaks to the mother`s ability to make rational decisions... I like you Ti, understand why she might have thought that him getting a tattoo was ok but, it just seems like as a parent, she should have given that a once over in her mind before going through with that.
As a parent she should have more control over her son's decision, she should never of let him had that tatoo done. Why couldn't she (like Ti said) get a RIP t-shirt instead?
I live near the area where this happened and what disturbed me the most was that the other children in his class told media that this little boys nickname is Waka Flocka and that is what they call him in school. A 9 yr old stated that he told her he got the tattoo to look more like Waka. #fail
--*There Is No Excuse For Her To Allow Her Son To Get A Tattoo @ 10. There Are Millions Of Ways To Mourn Someones Death. I Understand Why She Got The Tattoo For Herself. But I Just Can't Agree With The Fact That She Let Her 10 Year Old Son Get A Tattoo...

Parents shouldn't be friends with their children, PERIOD. She should've dealt with the child's grief in a different way and not give into what he 'wanted'.
Also, I think that if a kid were to make a judgement on a tattoo, this is the most mature one a kid could make. Normally when kids want tattoos they're like "Yeah. I'm going to get a snake riding a lyger walking through NYC while chasing a rock!" And you would say "Why do you want that?" and they'd be all "BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME"
While I would say no and tell them when they are older we would do it together "I want to get a tattoo to memorialize my brother" is a pretty "mature" choice.
At first I was like "Oh lord, what the fuck have people done now?" Considering that the parents who have been tattooing their kids have been doing so in awful ways...
This isn't the worst thing in the whole world. They didn't hold the kid down. They didn't tattoo something obscene. He wanted a memorial tattoo. Was this poor judgement on his mother's part? YES. But they should be out catching real criminals rather than picking on a family who is grieving.
I think it was wrong for him to get the tat but if the parent allowd this then everybody should mind there own.. its her child her mistake let her deal with it.. we hv enough laws tellin us what the hell we can n can not do its jus crazy....
It is our job as parents to make the difficult decisions. While I do understand that he was hurting because of the lost of his brother, that child should not have been tattooed. As you said it was others ways to honor his brother. Children do not know right from wrong and his mother should. She should be prosecuted.
I am all for government staying out of parents business, however, this child is to young to get a tattoo. Parents need to make sure that they parent. She should have told the child no and if he wanted to do this when he was older so be it. He is to young to know that this thing will be with him for the rest of his life. I am not for her getting CPS called on her or a huge fine, but some kind of penalty needs to be in place for her actions. I do not think she should lose custody of her child .
a law is a law. I think everything is subjective when it comes down to it. I do think that the gov imposes a bit too much to the point where we really have no TRUE freedom. How can it be truly freedom if it was "allowed"? We should all be able to exist in harmony with eachother, and rules are set in place to help that a long..but some rules are just too much. This particular rule I tend to agree with. As you said.. what you are at 8, youre not at 18. Let the child grow and develop first.
The boy definitely shouldn't have got the tattoo, but she shouldn't have been arrested. When I was in high school kids were 15 and 16 with tattoos. The thing that sucks is as he grows it's probably going to warp.
i agree that a 10 year old shouldn't be getting tattoos but I think her getting arrested over it is a little extreme. It wasn't like he had a nude woman tattooed on him.
Oh, and waking up to a Ti vid on my birthday! And she just HAPPENS to be wearin a french maid outfit doin a video?! A brotha can dream. Anyway, I think mama a crackhead anyway...
First of all, what's sad is that "like baby clothes", the tattoo has a chance of stretching and spreading which may cause it to lose it's original form. His arm is TINY right now, when he grows the appearance of the already compromised tat can drastically change.
And I agree...at that age, you tell your child "No. There are other ways we can remember him." But then again, since the mother already did it, she pretty much set the allowance to get one to commemorate her son's death. Tricky tricky
In my faith tats r a big nono. If u have a tat u can't get burid in a jewish cemitary. I sorry 4 the family but that ma was a putz! I just lost my pa ! But I would never get a tat
All cases should be dealt in a case by case manner. This one was particularly sad, and I don't think the law enforcement should make a huge deal about it. The kid wanted to get a memorial tattoo of his brother, that's too personal and heart wrenching for others to judge and take him away from his mother. It's just not right.
No I wouldn't let my 10 year old get a tattoo. I feel for the family but to get a tattoo that young...nah. instead I would have told him to find something he loves and excel in it as a rememberance to his big brother. SMH, ya'll know they're going to prosecute and use this lady "as an example" though.
I agree with you Ti but at the end of the day it should be your choice as a parent wither to allow your son to get a tattoo or not It shouldn't be the governments choice
NO NO NO! it should be against the law because as you can see from the small clip there are some "Ain't Shit" parents out there that will bend like straw to their kids
Who called the police in the first place? Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't let my 11 year old get a tattoo either, but what was said during that police call?
I feel for the lady with losing her child and all however i think it's absolutely ridiculous to let a 10 yr old child get a tatoo for any reason.Tell his no ass no and let him know that no one can take away his brother from his heart or memories there are other ways to honor a loved one i have my Dads name and date of birth and death tatooed on my arm however i was an adult when i lost my dad as much as i feel their pain it's just unacceptable in my eyes.
I'll admit, getting the tatoo for him wasn't a good idea, but arrest her? And that teacher must have no heart for calling the police cuz 1) she (or he) needs to mind her own damn business, it ain't her fuckin' kid and 2) it's almost an insult to his brother because he got it in honor of him. I dunno that's just my opinion, what do you think, Ti?
I'm pretty sure the peson who did the little boy's tattoo wasn't legit. My problem isn't with the little boy getting a tattoo in rememberance of his brother, but I think they should ban facial tattoos on the real. I have tats but they aren't covering my whole body are in places I can't cover up. This is the fad that needs to be under control. None of these people are thinking about their future. Who wants to hire someone with DRAKE across their forehead? Thats someone who needs to be arressted
I am 24, I got a tattoo when I lost my brother 4 years ago, its just his intials, but I really had to think LONG and hard. I couldn't imagine being 10 and wanting to get one. I couldnt imagine being the mother either. Like you said, I understand her intent, but wrong exicution.
I think the problem is, children are expected to grow up way to fast, and make grown up decisions in 2012. In 1992 when I was 10 years I still had to ask mother if I could cross the street to go play.
A lot the 10 year old kids parents' today don't know where their children are unless they're following them on twitter.
they should allow teens to get tattoos with parental consent because its better to go to an established parlor than a bootleg artist for health and saftey reasons. I think the kid wanted to do what he saw his mom do. a parents have to remind kids that there is a difference in being an adult and being a child parents are scared of their kids and being the cool parent that they lose track of them being responsible for planting and teaching their seeds. the artist is at fault.
as a medical professional we have been so frustrated by some of these parents. i understand the loss, we just lost 4 family members all in 8 months! my children got a crash course in death that resulted in counseling. no child that age should be tattooed. i would have talked it out with them.we don't even agree to ear piercing of our boys, they can do it when they are adults. you don't know now what they will do & many professional jobs do not take tattoos that show or males with piercings.
I understand she wants to allow her son the option of honoring the memory of his brother (her son). However, the tattoo wasn't cool even given this situation.
I have a problem with this because it's a child! Children's bodies are different from adult's bodies. Their bones are still growing. Their tissue is still growing. Their minds are changing and developing. Everything is changing and growing. I know that many drugs have a different effect on children than they do on adults. It's the same thing with alcohol. I think that because their skin is changing and will change, the ink from the tattoo could have a different, possibly negative effect,
Yes she was wrong. Getting a tatoo is a painful process at any age, let alone 10. I understand grief, but just like you said, would you drink or smoke with your child if that's what he asked for, cause you can't say NO. Another case of " When Parenting goes Wrong". A parent should never want their child to feel any pain that isn't necessary, like Dr or Dental appointments. I just don't get it with some people, but I know it's going to be a few that think it's ok, cause it's her child...SAD.
@vjc8797 These chemicals really should not be in your lungs. What belongs in them is carbon dioxide and oxygen. Also, I know that past research has led to conclusions that pregnant animals exposed to Marijuana smoke give birth to offspring with birth defects. As well, smoking Marijuana is not good for hospital patients who are older in that smoke introduced into the body constricts blood vessels and puts pressure on the cardiovascular system, and this is even more so in patients who
@vjc8797 are older. This is because their cardiovascular systems have aged. But you are right when it comes to benefits sick people get from smoking Marijuana. Marijuana helps in treating glaucoma, nausea cancer patients get when undergoing chemotherapy and epilepsy. And, Marijuana is still a psychoactive drug, and that means it's still addictive, which means that certain people can become addicted to it if they are born with the right physical make-up and biochemistry. In short,
@vjc8797 if you are extremely sick, the benefits outweigh the costs. If you are not and have responsibilities, the costs outweigh the benefits. This is based on peer reviewed reports I had to read for my BA in psychology.
She shouldve said wait until you are older this is ridiculous. Im from Atlanta and we know the laws period. Im gonna come out and say that she had to have been high or drunk when she made this decision.
first one to comment! anyway i think when ur about 15 or 16 u should be able to get one with parent permission, but 10? waaaay to young! your still a kid and kids shouldn't do that to their bodies. its ridiculous.
I don't think that getting a tattoo should be compared to drinking or smoking. It's not like it's something that he would regret, I have tattoos myself and I got my first when I was 14, I don't regret it yet. It's art , it's expression, and it gives us closure through hard times we go through. It's that kid's body and his life, same with his moms. If they regret it then that will be there problem, I don't think we should make a big deal about it. I respect your opinion though.
I personally think that people at least 16 should be allowed to get tattoos, but that's just my opinion. Then again I don't really care what most people do with their bodies, because it's well, theirs. Y'know what I mean?
I agree with ti on this one bcuz, that boy is 2 young 4 a tatoo..... She could've got a shirt or something in his bro. name.

And I agree...at that age, you tell your child "No. There are other ways we can remember him." But then again, since the mother already did it, she pretty much set the allowance to get one to commemorate her son's death. Tricky tricky

Make a video or photobook. Kids shouldn't have tattoos. She should've told him to wait til he was older.

TylaJeanay1 1 month ago

He's too young for a tattoo
Mrbaltimore2001 1 month ago
they should allow teens to get tattoos with parental consent because its better to go to an established parlor than a bootleg artist for health and saftey reasons. I think the kid wanted to do what he saw his mom do. a parents have to remind kids that there is a difference in being an adult and being a child parents are scared of their kids and being the cool parent that they lose track of them being responsible for planting and teaching their seeds. the artist is at fault.

A 4 year old with a tattoo of Elmo on his forehead will probably make news next week. I mean, what can a parent say? God forbid they say "no".

as a medical professional we have been so frustrated by some of these parents. i understand the loss, we just lost 4 family members all in 8 months! my children got a crash course in death that resulted in counseling. no child that age should be tattooed. i would have talked it out with them.we don't even agree to ear piercing of our boys, they can do it when they are adults. you don't know now what they will do & many professional jobs do not take tattoos that show or males with piercings.

This is based on peer reviewed reports I had to read for my BA in psychology.

first one to comment! anyway i think when ur about 15 or 16 u should be able to get one with parent permission, but 10? waaaay to young! your still a kid and kids shouldn't do that to their bodies. its ridiculous.
dansingqueenlfs 1 month ago
I don't think that getting a tattoo should be compared to drinking or smoking. It's not like it's something that he would regret, I have tattoos myself and I got my first when I was 14, I don't regret it yet. It's art , it's expression, and it gives us closure through hard times we go through. It's that kid's body and his life, same with his moms. If they regret it then that will be there problem, I don't think we should make a big deal about it. I respect your opinion though.
amyblossom1 1 month ago
I personally think that people at least 16 should be allowed to get tattoos, but that's just my opinion. Then again I don't really care what most people do with their bodies, because it's well, theirs. Y'know what I mean?
