  • Thanks for this video! I just got kicked out of my first semester of student teaching because I take photographs of a drag show. Harvey's speech was inspirational to me and reminded me of why I want to teach in the first place. I'll keep going and start student teaching next semester. And I'll keep doing what I am doing! Besides, it was those drag queens that stood up for our rights years ago.

  • Those people served no kind of criminal or violent act towards society. They just wanted to dance and be who they are, Yet cops were LOOKING for a fight and unnecessarily used aggressiveness towards them. They just wanted to be left alone. What was so wrong with that?

  • I think those early activists for gay rights in the US are as close to the true spirit of the first Americans as you can get...i.e.pioneers. I'm straight and have never had to suffer bigotry and unfair laws, but I can imagine it is not nice at all. I look forward to the day when ALL people accept others without taking their colour, creed, gender or sexuality into consideration. Alas, I fear that religions are the biggest stumbling block...as this is the most popular vehicle to conceal bigotry.
