@racegrooves Thanks! The original plan was for a hand-cranked winch, so it can definitely work. The rest of the stuff - the cables, all that - really wasn't expensive. In fact, the electric winch wasn't all that much, either. I got it from Northern tool.
That is quite the man cave! It's awesome that your room got featured on that show (even though I've never heard of it before), and it's quite cool to see how part of it was made.
It's also nice when you have a supporting family who won't criticize you for being obsessed with "toys."
@legr8est1234 Thank you! The show was short-lived, running only 1 season on Home and Gardens TV. There were some very cool things shown, all of them home-brewed. We had a blast taping.
that's pretty cool! i think you would be interested in Kyosho Mini-Z r/c cars, handling is incredible, good speed for it's size, and there are several beautiful, scale bodies for them, you can probably find some on their website. I used to have an AWD mitsubishi lancer, MR-01 ferrari 512BB, and a MR-02 with a G'zox 350z body. bodies are interchangable, wheels can be changed, you can do almost anything you can to a real car on them, and their incredibly fun.
@jamiekenta I've seen those - they're very cool. We see a lot of stuff at the Nuremberg, Germany, toy show every year. Kyosho has a huge stand, and they breakout all the goodies. Maybe we'll give those cars a try.
@Thecarroom please do, those mini monsters don't get nearly as much attention as they deserve. it's awesome to own a model car, but to own one that you can drive brings it that much closer to owning the real thing, even though it lacks all the detail of a 1/18 model.
Having the track come up and down from the ceiling is a genius space saving idea. Over here in England our main slot car track manufacturer is Scalextric. What system/manufacturer is your track, is it Scalextric?
You`ve got you`r own room dedicated to your hobby, an extensive car collection, a large slot car track, beautiful family, understanding wife. You`re living the dream.
@acidhouse100 Thanks! The track sections we use are made by Carrera - but we do have a lot of Scalextric cars. We had to cut many of those track sections to make some of the curves, etc., and we then painted over most of them with a concrete-look paint from Ralph Lauren called "River Rock".
As for the wife and all of that - yes, I'm really lucky. I think I'll keep her.
Awesome set-up! I have similar plans for a downhill track but my budget won't allow for motors and wenches. It's going to be strickly man-power LOL!

@jamiekenta Sounds like a plan! We'll contact out Kyosho rep and see what we can do. Thanks for the idea - and for watching CRMTV!
