@vadarman9906 You defended badly. You converted no non-believers with your comment and made several believers face-palm in embarrassment for being of the same faith.
@TempestKiro oh really, well this is you tube where I'm limited in commenting space so for all you know I'm a good defender but I just don't do it online because of commenting space in fact I have an entire lecture on how evolutions false but again I can't fit it on the limited commenting space.
I can't believe this. There's actually an evolution vs creation argument going on below a scene from my favorite hilarious TV show. Just goes to show the power of the media. :)
Ok, I checked out the experiment you mentioned. I will admit, an experiment done by a man (a lifeform) created amino acids. But that is still a far jump to protein. After all, I'm also willing to admit all things are made of atoms. Also, the experiment was done by an intelligent designer and it was going by what he thought conditions were like at the dawn of time.
@TekelBrighteyes I'd love to discuss this further, but I have to start getting ready for work. So I'll leave you with a question and a statement till I get back. First, if a man becomes a body builder, will his children have strong muscles? And the statement:
The exquisite order displayed by our scientific understanding of the physical world calls for the divine.
@burakmorali I find your statement so very sad. Here I am presenting solid arguments for my belief. I'm not trying to get anyone to believe my way, just showing I have reasons for my own beliefs. And instead of presenting your own well thought out and sound arguments that was the best you could come up with? If that is the best you can do, you have no right to call someone that. But above that, a better question would be, why does my belief upset you so much? Are you scared I might be right:?
You're arguing against evolution and abiogenesis only because it goes against your beliefs. That qualifies you as a category 1 retard. Making reasoned arguments about this subject to you is trying to explain quantum entanglement to a 4 year old.
@burakmorali When did the roles become reversed? Used to be the scientific community would give well thought out answers based in proven fact. The religious community shot them down with "You're wrong." Here I am giving facts to back up my beliefs, and all you can manage is retard. I am an open minded person. I'm willing to hear others out even if their beliefs are different from mine. And if I don't agree with them I don't come back with retard. Stop attacking me and my beliefs...
@TekelBrighteyes try attacking the facts instead. And use well founded facts to disprove mine. Not only will that make me think you're more than a school kid looking for an argument, but we may actually get an intelligent conversation going that way. Remember, my 5 year old niece can say, "You're wrong," all day long. That doesn't make her right.
There can be no intelligent conversation on the subject of creationism vs. evolution. No matter how clever and convincing the arguments I present you, you will always come up with some completely moronic argument you got from Kent Hovind or whomever, who you believe with all of your heart and which none of the qualified scientific community having spent their lives researching the subject will take seriously.
@burakmorali Wow. How sad your life must be. You seem convinced you know me and what I'll say and do. But let's look at the facts. I've given good sound facts to support my theory. Facts that you can't refute. So instead you attack me. And you do so by reverting to grade school name calling. And yet you want me to think of you as the intelligent one. My theory of Creationism is just that, a theory. Just as the theory of Evolution is a theory. You can't disprove my theory so you attack me. So sad
My life isn't sad. I'm studying engineering physics to later do a masters in space technologies related field, to enter the CSA. What did you do with your life?
Creationism isn't a theory but a belief. A theory is something which inspire from evidence found in nature and through logical arguments, explains the already present evidence and makes predictions for future discoveries. Evolution is a theory widely accepted, like the theory of general relativity. Creation is religion
There's a reason why scientists, the people who did wonders for the advancement of mankind don't bother arguing about the creation vs. evolution. There's nothing to argue about. It angers me that you people teach your kids this garbage, spoiling possibly promising minds. There's a reason why there aren't that many creationist scientists. Creationists aren't smart enough to earn PhDs in various fields of science, explaining why they are creationists in the first place really.
@burakmorali Again, you have the mind of a child. You can't argue my points so you resort to attacking me. If you truly believed in your theory you would have either ignored me or brought up valid points as to why I was wrong. Instead you called me an effing retard. You can't argue your point so you attack me instead. And you need to to your homework. Creationism is a theory. Christianity is a religion. If you truly are an adult with a masters, act like it. Again, sad.
@TekelBrighteyes Through blue shift of light we can effectively demonstrate that the universe is much much much older than 5000 years. Through he fossil record we can demonstrate the presence of different transitional fossils having lived in different periods of time, leading up to the animals we currently have on Earth. Evidence against creation.Any scientist would abandon a theory if there strong evidence against it is found. You don't. Therefore not a theory, but faith. Creationism is religion
@burakmorali I'm impressed. You actually came up with a simi-intelligent argument this time. However, you still fail by attacking me and not my arguments. So I'll address yours. Not all Creationist says the world is 5000 years old. I never said that so why go there? I have already given several arguments for Creationism which can be found in any biology book so no the evidence isn't against me. Look it up, Creationism is a theory which many scientists believe in.
@TekelBrighteyes Dude, are you trolling? I think you are... "Many scientists believe in creationism"... That's so outrageously incorrect, it's sickening. Maybe you don't have any contacts within the scientific community, but I've never met or heard of a respected scientist who is a creationist. I met plenty of biologists through my sister who's a cellular and molecular biologist, and not a single one thought of creation as valid.
@TekelBrighteyes I just opened the biology textbook I used in my freshman biology class to the page on the subject of evolution against creation. It clearly says that creation is completely frivolous and unscientific, and that evolution is as widely accepted as Newtonian mechanics. If I go to the page of the authors and reviewers, you can see 2-3 full pages of names of professors on the subject who agree with everything in the book. These people are at the top of their profession.
@TekelBrighteyes Creation comes from the bible or any other sacred religious text. Therefore, it's not science, it's religion. In science you start with the facts and reach conclusions based on these facts. Creation STARTS with a conclusion and looks for facts to support the conclusion. And I might add that there isn't ANY fact that creationist come up for creation.
@burakmorali For a minute there I thought we were going to be able to have an intelligent conversation, but now I see you just want to argue. So I'll shed light on a few things then I'm leaving. First, look it up, Creationism is a theory. The fact that you don't like it doesn't make it so. Now, go back to grade school and relearn what you need. First you have the hypothesis. This is where your educated guess comes in. Next you have theory...
@TekelBrighteyes Theory is what hypotheses become once they have been tested. Creationism made it this far and Evolution hasn't made it past this point. Finally you have laws. Such as the law of gravity and the laws of physics. As far as not meeting scientists who believe in Creationism, you meet what you want to meet. If you keep an open mind and talk to people you'll find there's more out there than you think. When I first started studying neurology I expected to meet a lot of hostility...
@TekelBrighteyes ... for my beliefs, but amazingly no. Just try and keep a more open minded approach when you talk to people instead of beginning with effing retard and you may also be amazed what you learn. That being said, I am not writing you off as a moron. Not because of your beliefs, but do to your inability to argue your points with anything above grade school levels. Therefore you are now on my permanent ignore list. Good bye.
You either live in the middle of Texas or you're trolling. Creation is as scientific as the tooth fairy. And this is coming from a guy who's actually gonna be a scientist.
@burakmorali Sometomes you can't argue with a mind that says, God did it, I believe it, that settles it. You will never win. I learned that horrific fact a long time ago.
@surshot56 Why argue with that mind- show them how they can reconcile their belief in a creator WITH evolution- if you were an omniscient, omnipotent being- what would the concept of a "day" be fore you? A million earth years? A hundred thousand? Perhaps the blink of an eye to a creator of worlds i not the same as the blink of an eye to a human being.
@morethansalt the bible says that God is not the author of confusion. If the bible says 24 hours days then thats what it means. I'm not going to make excuses for the bible or come up with stupid interpretations that are meaningless.
@morethansalt Seeing as God supposedly created everything; he also created the concept of time. Seeing as everything and everyone (even characters of fairy tales) is subject to this concept, it would mean that even God goes through... whatever he goes through that we would call life, in the same dreadfully deplorable manner we all do. Though if a million years were to pass for him within a blink of an eye, it'd explain why the world sucks as much as it does; we're an unsupervised pet project.
@Fillask If God created the concept of time, he must trancend time. How else could he have existed before he made it. When it says a million years is like a blink of an eye for him, it means only that God isn't bound by the same time limits as we are.
@IVIasterIVIind That'd be your interpretation, but it doesn't say that... Anyway, where you see that such a thing is proof of God, I see proof of .. nothing, basically. In any case, it's life surshot said: "You can't argue with a mind that says, God did it, I believe it, that settles it." and I happen to agree with that wholeheartedly, so let's simply leave it at this.
@burakmorali see there is not even an arguement. You dont need evidence against creationism. its exactly the lack of evidence that makes it non viable. Do you imagine if scientists had to come up with evidence to bring down random crazy ideas? I cant say that im from crypton and ask you to believe it because there is no evidence AGAINST it...
Sheldon's mom is right! Evolution is an opinion, to be respected as an opinion that anyone has a right to believe. Just as Creationism is an opinion to be respected and neither should be ridiculed by the other. Argue all you want but show respect. When you can't show respect in a discussion you are the loser.
@breezebro this isn't true - sometimes ridicule is necessary.. i wouldn't want lies being taught in a classroom.. imagine scientists going around to churches and pulling out projectors and showing charts of evolution. what a bunk argument... i'll challenge an opinion if i think it's just dead wrong and has no evidence.
@lukeism2 I never said not to challenge an argument. All I said was that it is an opinion that is held by the other person and their belief in that opinion deserves respect and shouldn't be ridiculed no matter how wrong they are. Otherwise the discussion deteriorates into an useless name calling experience.
1Pe 3:15 ... give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence
Luk 6:31 "Treat others the same way you want them to treat you."
I'm a creationist, but that doesn't mean I wasn't educated in school. The fact of the matter is, the grand design theory does explain so much more than the evolution theory.
@lukeism2 Part A: Are you mad? Yeah, you sound mad. Why so defensive? Did I strike a nerve? And you want to go with 150 years of biological study with centuries of theological study? Which has stood the test of other theories and criticism during the course of time. Ok, I'll play. Yes, this is a game to me. :p Now, evolution would suggest that through some cosmic accident life started and thrived on this planet. Since the dawn of time on Earth, with what started as nothing, grew and evolved.
@TekelBrighteyes Part B: So throughout time, and through evolution and mutation, we arrive at the here and now. All because of some cosmic accident. Somehow, with what started as just a chunk of floating rock, things arranged themselves perfectly for us to live. So I will propose a scenario to you. Imagine you are walking down the street and you find a beautiful pocket watch. You pick it up and look at it and it's working like a dream. So you would like to know the watchmaker who made it.
@TekelBrighteyes Part C: You examine the watch but there isn't a brand name or watchmaker's mark. I would suggest that nobody built the watch. Isn't it possible that through some cosmic accident, parts falling from people's pockets, pieces getting scattered here and there, and things like that, that all the parts managed to find their way together and form a pocket watch? Couldn't that have happened? If you say no, I present to you the grand design theory. Yes, some things evolved...
@TekelBrighteyes ahh the watch maker fallacy... evolution doesn't have a goal, it's a blind process - we should actually grow out of teleological arguments - once we start studying science.. this.. design.. earth - it's not as well designed as you probably think.. i believe we are a cosmic accident, i'm fine with that. i don't believe we needed an uncaused cause to start anything.. sorry - i disagree with you strongly.
@lukeism2 lol It's ok, I respect your belief. The thing everyone must remember is that a theory is something which hasn't been proven. Such as the big bang, evolution, and yes, even creationism. They are all different theories. But it is worth pointing out that there have been many scientist who say the more they study the earth and how life began, the more it become apparent there must be a grand mind behind it. Also I do believe in evolution to an extent. I also believe in the big bang theory.
@TekelBrighteyes the only people i know that say their has to be an intelligence behind it are usually apologists for religions. most scientists are atheist/agnostic.. they work with evidence.
@lukeism2 Even atheism is a religion. It takes as much faith not to believe in something as it does to believe in something. But I'll offer you a chance to prove me wrong. Prove God does not exist. I think it's a fair challenge.
@TekelBrighteyes atheism is as much a religion as not collecting stamps is a hobby, look up the definition of religion.. between the Earth and Mars there is a teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. disprove it... you think this is silly. ahh, but what if this assumption was confirmed by ancient texts?. see what i did there?
@lukeism2 Actually, I don't think your calm is silly. If you truly believe you have a tea pot too small to be seen that's fine with me. I personally would have said it's on the other side of the sun. We'd have a hard time finding something directly opposite of us following the same orbit as us. But... my point is if you can't disprove it, you really can't say my theory is any less valid than your's.
@TekelBrighteyes The burden of proof lays directly on the believer. It is not the burden of the non-believer. You prove your god exists.
Believing something to be true and religion are two different things. An Atheist community could not hold a mass or have a congregation. We have no specific beliefs in common. What would our sermon have to teach us? Gay is wrong? don't kill fetuses? Vote Republican? We each have our own mind and we are a wide variety of individuals who think on our own.
@TheEmperfect I must disagree. People try to convince me God does not exist. Each time someone gives me an argument as to why He doesn't exist I give a compelling argument (and as we've seen a scientific one as well) as to why he does exist. Since I believe, it is up to the person trying to tell me that I'm wrong, to give me the proof.
@TekelBrighteyes You can disagree all you want; that does nothing to render Eperfect's claim inaccurate. As a person of faith you are making the claim that your god exists. You are making the positive claim and in all forms of discourse the burden of proof lies with the person making the positive claim. In law this means the burden of proof is on the accuser, etc. As for your claims of scientific proof of your gods existence, that is pure bunk. You have proven nothing.
@captwasabi Again, I wasn't trying to prove God exists. Simply that I have a valid reason for my beliefs. I didn't come here saying other people were wrong for their beliefs. I stated i have reasons for mine. But you are saying I'm wrong. Therefore, prove to me that I'm wrong.
@TekelBrighteyes Reviewing your comments in this thread you haven't as far as I can tell, presented a single "valid reason" for your beliefs but be that as it may, most people claim some personal and unique experience proves to them that god exists. This is a flawed point from which to argue as the circumstances are never repeatable. Again, you have made the claim that you believe god exists. I would love for you to present your "valid reasons".
@captwasabi Ok, I'll restate my original argument. Life can only come from life. This was proven long ago when people thought maggots were "magically" created on meat. It was proven that they came from eggs laid by flies. As I've stated before the most simple living thing, a mycoplasma, has 468 proteins each consisting of an average of about 250 units. According to all that is known concerning reactions in chemistry and physics, not even one protein could be formed just by the forces of nature.
@TekelBrighteyes "Life can only come from life. This was proven long ago..." Wrong. All that was proven was that maggots came from flies and not from raw meat. "According to all that is known concerning reactions in chemistry and physics, not even one protein could be formed just by the forces of nature." Again you are wrong. In 2008 a reanalysis of the Miller-Urey experiment revealed that 22 amino acids were created out of inanimate matter. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.
@TekelBrighteyes I already mentioned the name of the experiment. Look into the Miller Urey experiment. While there are critics and proponents it presented some very interesting findings. As for your first question, no, I am not. I am saying that it is probably quite possible however the conditions under which this can occur have never been documented. That said, I believe more in a natural yet undefined cause than a supernatural and still undefined cause.
If you claim that there is a God, I'd say a fair challenge would be prove that God does exist. I could say that unicorns exists, but I would have to prove it to you for you to believe it, no? God works the same way. And there is no faith involved in believing in something there is no evidence for. Faith is to believe something without any evidence, which by the way makes the faithful the most gullible.
@Phirelord77 lol No. The reason being I'm not trying to prove to anyone God does exist. All I did was try and prove that there was valid, logical, data for my belief. I've given good data which suggest, even if my theory isn't the right one, I have just cause in believing in it. Everyone here has been trying to convince me their way is the right way. I'm simply saying I have reason to believe the way I do.
@TekelBrighteyes If you have evidence for your God and that's why you believe in him, then it's not really faith is it? Which is basically the whole point of religion. If there is any valid/logical data for your belief, I would really like to see it. I'm trying to convince people God doesn't exist because I still have hope for humanity.
@TekelBrighteyes Oh dear lord. Not another idiot who mistakes a theory for something that is not proven. Let me get my educators cap on. " a theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena" In other words, theories are proven and incorporate facts, laws and tested hypotheses.
@TekelBrighteyes In other words, Evolution is a Theory in that it is proven. A hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable phenomenon so creationism isn't even a hypothesis unless you've been seeing things being randomly created around you.
@TekelBrighteyes My theory that we are all part of a simulation program explains even more! You can't prove that we aren't part of a simulation so you have to accept my theory as equally valid as yours.
I love this clip. Seeing a stubborn, anal retentive physicist like Sheldon wilt before the power of creationist denial is hysterical. I feel his pain. The human race is doomed.
@tcorp, technically they don't understand certain aspects of the scientific method, for example that a theory can be tested using fossils or other data. They are a product of an education system that shoves the scientific method into a box that only includes MythBuster style experiments.
fuck you Sheldon, god exists and you know it evolution is false and you are a bad man along with any other evolutionist Christ will come and will know that god is god and you believed wrong all your life. EVOLUTION IS TOTAL FALSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That being said, I am not writing you off as a moron. Not because of your beliefs, but do to your inability to argue your points with anything above grade school levels. Therefore you are now on my permanent ignore list. Good bye.

@TekelBrighteyes
You either live in the middle of Texas or you're trolling. Creation is as scientific as the tooth fairy. And this is coming from a guy who's actually gonna be a scientist.
burakmorali 1 year ago
@burakmorali Sometomes you can't argue with a mind that says, God did it, I believe it, that settles it. You will never win. I learned that horrific fact a long time ago.
surshot56 1 year ago
@surshot56 Why argue with that mind- show them how they can reconcile their belief in a creator WITH evolution- if you were an omniscient, omnipotent being- what would the concept of a "day" be fore you? A million earth years? A hundred thousand? Perhaps the blink of an eye to a creator of worlds i not the same as the blink of an eye to a human being.
morethansalt 1 year ago
@morethansalt the bible says that God is not the author of confusion. If the bible says 24 hours days then thats what it means. I'm not going to make excuses for the bible or come up with stupid interpretations that are meaningless.
surshot56 1 year ago
@surshot56 Oh, I see, you're ignorant.
morethansalt 1 year ago
@morethansalt ignorant of what exactly? So, asking questions instead of being a credulous numb skull makes me ignorant?
surshot56 1 year ago
@morethansalt Seeing as God supposedly created everything; he also created the concept of time. Seeing as everything and everyone (even characters of fairy tales) is subject to this concept, it would mean that even God goes through... whatever he goes through that we would call life, in the same dreadfully deplorable manner we all do. Though if a million years were to pass for him within a blink of an eye, it'd explain why the world sucks as much as it does; we're an unsupervised pet project.
Fillask 8 months ago
@Fillask If God created the concept of time, he must trancend time. How else could he have existed before he made it. When it says a million years is like a blink of an eye for him, it means only that God isn't bound by the same time limits as we are.
IVIasterIVIind 3 months ago
@IVIasterIVIind That'd be your interpretation, but it doesn't say that... Anyway, where you see that such a thing is proof of God, I see proof of .. nothing, basically. In any case, it's life surshot said: "You can't argue with a mind that says, God did it, I believe it, that settles it." and I happen to agree with that wholeheartedly, so let's simply leave it at this.
Fillask 3 months ago
@Fillask I never said it was proof for God, I simply said it was a possible explaination.
IVIasterIVIind 3 months ago
@IVIasterIVIind You didn't quite word it that way, but alright :p
Fillask 3 months ago
@burakmorali see there is not even an arguement. You dont need evidence against creationism. its exactly the lack of evidence that makes it non viable. Do you imagine if scientists had to come up with evidence to bring down random crazy ideas? I cant say that im from crypton and ask you to believe it because there is no evidence AGAINST it...
h0wud0in2 10 months ago
Sheldon's mom is right! Evolution is an opinion, to be respected as an opinion that anyone has a right to believe. Just as Creationism is an opinion to be respected and neither should be ridiculed by the other. Argue all you want but show respect. When you can't show respect in a discussion you are the loser.
breezebro 1 year ago
@breezebro this isn't true - sometimes ridicule is necessary.. i wouldn't want lies being taught in a classroom.. imagine scientists going around to churches and pulling out projectors and showing charts of evolution. what a bunk argument... i'll challenge an opinion if i think it's just dead wrong and has no evidence.
lukeism2 1 year ago
@lukeism2 I never said not to challenge an argument. All I said was that it is an opinion that is held by the other person and their belief in that opinion deserves respect and shouldn't be ridiculed no matter how wrong they are. Otherwise the discussion deteriorates into an useless name calling experience.

I hate what they do as much as you do but God doesn't hate the person & neither do I.
God doesn't hate their sin any more than yours or mine.
God doesn't love you or I any more than He does them.
Pro 6:16-19 There are six things which the LORD hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him.... (no room to list)
God hates these sins so much he made a list.
Homosexuality nor any sexual sin is listed.
Yet these are sins most believers commit daily and think nothing of it.

@breezebro i was joking...
lukeism2 1 year ago
I'm a creationist, but that doesn't mean I wasn't educated in school. The fact of the matter is, the grand design theory does explain so much more than the evolution theory.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes how the fuck does abracadabra compare to 150 years of biological study?...
lukeism2 1 year ago
@lukeism2 Part A: Are you mad? Yeah, you sound mad. Why so defensive? Did I strike a nerve? And you want to go with 150 years of biological study with centuries of theological study? Which has stood the test of other theories and criticism during the course of time. Ok, I'll play. Yes, this is a game to me. :p Now, evolution would suggest that through some cosmic accident life started and thrived on this planet. Since the dawn of time on Earth, with what started as nothing, grew and evolved.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes Part B: So throughout time, and through evolution and mutation, we arrive at the here and now. All because of some cosmic accident. Somehow, with what started as just a chunk of floating rock, things arranged themselves perfectly for us to live. So I will propose a scenario to you. Imagine you are walking down the street and you find a beautiful pocket watch. You pick it up and look at it and it's working like a dream. So you would like to know the watchmaker who made it.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes Part C: You examine the watch but there isn't a brand name or watchmaker's mark. I would suggest that nobody built the watch. Isn't it possible that through some cosmic accident, parts falling from people's pockets, pieces getting scattered here and there, and things like that, that all the parts managed to find their way together and form a pocket watch? Couldn't that have happened? If you say no, I present to you the grand design theory. Yes, some things evolved...
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes Part D: through nature. But they were first planned out by a master watch maker.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes ahh the watch maker fallacy... evolution doesn't have a goal, it's a blind process - we should actually grow out of teleological arguments - once we start studying science.. this.. design.. earth - it's not as well designed as you probably think.. i believe we are a cosmic accident, i'm fine with that. i don't believe we needed an uncaused cause to start anything.. sorry - i disagree with you strongly.
lukeism2 1 year ago
@lukeism2 lol It's ok, I respect your belief. The thing everyone must remember is that a theory is something which hasn't been proven. Such as the big bang, evolution, and yes, even creationism. They are all different theories. But it is worth pointing out that there have been many scientist who say the more they study the earth and how life began, the more it become apparent there must be a grand mind behind it. Also I do believe in evolution to an extent. I also believe in the big bang theory.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes I just believe there had to be something out there to start it all.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes the only people i know that say their has to be an intelligence behind it are usually apologists for religions. most scientists are atheist/agnostic.. they work with evidence.
lukeism2 1 year ago
@lukeism2 Even atheism is a religion. It takes as much faith not to believe in something as it does to believe in something. But I'll offer you a chance to prove me wrong. Prove God does not exist. I think it's a fair challenge.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes atheism is as much a religion as not collecting stamps is a hobby, look up the definition of religion.. between the Earth and Mars there is a teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes. disprove it... you think this is silly. ahh, but what if this assumption was confirmed by ancient texts?. see what i did there?
lukeism2 1 year ago
@lukeism2 Actually, I don't think your calm is silly. If you truly believe you have a tea pot too small to be seen that's fine with me. I personally would have said it's on the other side of the sun. We'd have a hard time finding something directly opposite of us following the same orbit as us. But... my point is if you can't disprove it, you really can't say my theory is any less valid than your's.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes The burden of proof lays directly on the believer. It is not the burden of the non-believer. You prove your god exists.
Believing something to be true and religion are two different things. An Atheist community could not hold a mass or have a congregation. We have no specific beliefs in common. What would our sermon have to teach us? Gay is wrong? don't kill fetuses? Vote Republican? We each have our own mind and we are a wide variety of individuals who think on our own.
TheEmperfect 1 year ago
@TheEmperfect I must disagree. People try to convince me God does not exist. Each time someone gives me an argument as to why He doesn't exist I give a compelling argument (and as we've seen a scientific one as well) as to why he does exist. Since I believe, it is up to the person trying to tell me that I'm wrong, to give me the proof.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes You can disagree all you want; that does nothing to render Eperfect's claim inaccurate. As a person of faith you are making the claim that your god exists. You are making the positive claim and in all forms of discourse the burden of proof lies with the person making the positive claim. In law this means the burden of proof is on the accuser, etc. As for your claims of scientific proof of your gods existence, that is pure bunk. You have proven nothing.
captwasabi 1 year ago
@captwasabi Again, I wasn't trying to prove God exists. Simply that I have a valid reason for my beliefs. I didn't come here saying other people were wrong for their beliefs. I stated i have reasons for mine. But you are saying I'm wrong. Therefore, prove to me that I'm wrong.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes Reviewing your comments in this thread you haven't as far as I can tell, presented a single "valid reason" for your beliefs but be that as it may, most people claim some personal and unique experience proves to them that god exists. This is a flawed point from which to argue as the circumstances are never repeatable. Again, you have made the claim that you believe god exists. I would love for you to present your "valid reasons".
captwasabi 1 year ago
@captwasabi Ok, I'll restate my original argument. Life can only come from life. This was proven long ago when people thought maggots were "magically" created on meat. It was proven that they came from eggs laid by flies. As I've stated before the most simple living thing, a mycoplasma, has 468 proteins each consisting of an average of about 250 units. According to all that is known concerning reactions in chemistry and physics, not even one protein could be formed just by the forces of nature.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes "Life can only come from life. This was proven long ago..." Wrong. All that was proven was that maggots came from flies and not from raw meat. "According to all that is known concerning reactions in chemistry and physics, not even one protein could be formed just by the forces of nature." Again you are wrong. In 2008 a reanalysis of the Miller-Urey experiment revealed that 22 amino acids were created out of inanimate matter. Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins.
captwasabi 1 year ago
@captwasabi So you're saying life can form on it's own? Also, what type of test are you talking about revealing the 22 amino acids?
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes I already mentioned the name of the experiment. Look into the Miller Urey experiment. While there are critics and proponents it presented some very interesting findings. As for your first question, no, I am not. I am saying that it is probably quite possible however the conditions under which this can occur have never been documented. That said, I believe more in a natural yet undefined cause than a supernatural and still undefined cause.
captwasabi 1 year ago
If you claim that there is a God, I'd say a fair challenge would be prove that God does exist. I could say that unicorns exists, but I would have to prove it to you for you to believe it, no? God works the same way. And there is no faith involved in believing in something there is no evidence for. Faith is to believe something without any evidence, which by the way makes the faithful the most gullible.
Phirelord77 1 year ago
@Phirelord77 lol No. The reason being I'm not trying to prove to anyone God does exist. All I did was try and prove that there was valid, logical, data for my belief. I've given good data which suggest, even if my theory isn't the right one, I have just cause in believing in it. Everyone here has been trying to convince me their way is the right way. I'm simply saying I have reason to believe the way I do.
TekelBrighteyes 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes If you have evidence for your God and that's why you believe in him, then it's not really faith is it? Which is basically the whole point of religion. If there is any valid/logical data for your belief, I would really like to see it. I'm trying to convince people God doesn't exist because I still have hope for humanity.
Phirelord77 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes Oh dear lord. Not another idiot who mistakes a theory for something that is not proven. Let me get my educators cap on. " a theory is a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena" In other words, theories are proven and incorporate facts, laws and tested hypotheses.
captwasabi 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes In other words, Evolution is a Theory in that it is proven. A hypothesis is a proposed explanation for an observable phenomenon so creationism isn't even a hypothesis unless you've been seeing things being randomly created around you.
captwasabi 1 year ago
@TekelBrighteyes My theory that we are all part of a simulation program explains even more! You can't prove that we aren't part of a simulation so you have to accept my theory as equally valid as yours.

Creationists can't accept evolution because the don't understand the scientific method. They were never educated to do so.

@iraqidolphin Not seriously. It always takes one to know one. At least this way they won't have to be one.

@iraqidolphin, religious studies are often secular, Daniel Dennett (a relatively hostile atheist) is a big supporter of religious studies.
Golkarian 1 year ago
@tcorp, technically they don't understand certain aspects of the scientific method, for example that a theory can be tested using fossils or other data. They are a product of an education system that shoves the scientific method into a box that only includes MythBuster style experiments.
