  • i have only but a million blemishes to tell you about.

  • I rediscovered this song and oh the wonderful things I heard. Too bad I didn't appreciate it as much when I was at this show. Thanks so much for the upload!

  • you know how bedlam differs.. on every other album, all of omar's riffs are fucking finger straining groovy little riffs. bedlam is just basically chords all the way through and it's just too badass

  • They'll check my wrist, I'll faint a pulse. I'm not the human, You thought I was.

  • in the end they just gagged me to make Him come out

  • my temporal lobe is shaped like Rosaline Carter

  • This song is genius

  • Mars Volta is in Bufalo de la Noche's Soundtrack.

  • He might be referring to missing notes rather than improvising. I don't know, I've never listened to the mars volta before now

  • I'll take energy with mistakes over a drone-like performance that is technically correct... regardless the stuff Omar plays is extremely difficult and even more creative... Unfortunately I haven't seen them live, but I plan too when they tour for The Bedlam in Goliath!!

  • I've seen them live and they are alright. I only rate them as alright because I couldn't hear them that well. They are now like an 8 peice band and in an arena the sound can get really mushy and sound like just a wall of sound. I think I would prefer to see them in a club setting rather than arena from now on. But they have stage prescense like no other.

  • I love mars volta but I agree, a lot of the times they spend to much time freaking out lol, it´s good to actually hear the songs you fell in love with.

  • Yeah, you don't go to a concert to hear the CD.

The song is supposed to be a bit different than the actual recording. Thats the point.

  • regardless of how well they play there songs live, their stage presence is so striking that they could drop their instruments and sing twinkle twinkle little star, and it would be the most epic performance in the history of music.

  • TheJohnMayor,

I am fairly certian Omar knows he is not playing the "record recording" like most bands do.. Every show can be a new song...Just listen to Scabdates its not meant to be "record recording" and they enjoy doing it other ways. Part of the show is being at the show, something that does not transfer over well to second hand experinces.

  • Hmm...I figured it would be something like that because he's an amazing guitarist. But they are the most entertaining thing to see live and I don't think they need to mix it up all the time. But yah I definitly enjoy them...just a few minor grievences.

  • The Mars Volta is pretty good live...they could just be a lot better...Omar misses a lot of notes sometimes...its annoying. But most of the time they are on. Theres a video of Asilos Magladena and it sounds pretty bad. Omar is the only one that I can say really screws them up. Even though hes like the lead man of the band. Everyone else is usually spot on in their performance.

  • no one can admit that the mars volta is "shit" live because first, it's an opinion, and secondly because the people you are addressing, including myself think that you have no musical depth or a penis.

  • all three albums are genius. 'nuff said

  • Why can't you sad sons of bitches just admit the mars volta is shit live.

  • Blablablablabla... Great band!

  • did anyone else hear blake fuck up in the last 20 sec?

  • in deed

  • OK, I'm sorry, but I hate it when they add all those maracas and banjos and all this extra percussion crap. I think it sounds bad, and this song is one of my favorites. These days....I just wish Cedric would shave, because he looks really hot when he shaves.

Anyways, other than that extra percussion shit and Cedric's ugly thick facial hair, this is a great live performance. Thanks for recording :)

  • I honestly don't understand how you can make such a narrow minded statement and still like the Mars Volta.

  • they are supposed to have a jazz and latin influence if you knew anything

  • its people like you that ruin music and bands such as this one.

  • Wow, if it's musical nonsense to you then you're a musical retard.

  • i agree amputechture is a great piece of musical genius

  • Seriously... the most underrated album

  • THE MOST

  • i love amputechture..my second fave. album by them

  • i thnk their first album is great. But Amputechture is in parts just musical nonsense to me,doesn't give much to me any more

  • agreed. I loved frances as well. However, I think that creatively, this album was necessary for them to get out of their systems.

  • beware the clerics of the tetragrammaton!

they'll shoot you in the face for looking at puppies! and they'll also shoot the puppies in the face!

  • This song is AMAZING!!! i cannot get enough of it. every second is amazing.

  • Progressive

  • great opinion!

  • I'm going to see this band this weekend in Vegas!!

These guys are definitely the future of cutting edge Progressional Rock!!

    Love you guys!!!

  • fuck this band without jon

  • no fuck y0u

  • 100% agree with you!!! I'm too depressed about this...

  • cedric has an awesome voice and dances like the sexy mexican he is!!! and as for omar, that dudes guitar work is the shit!

  • i was there GREAT SHOW!!

  • blake is amazing, jons gone, get over it. and its write, not right

  • yeah as much as omar rights all the music, and cedric rights all the vocals and vocal melodies jon was a really important influence to the band, and i reckon this new guy wont be able to recreate that..or half as well, but maybe ill be proved wrong..time will tell..

  • I miss Jon...

  • first off omar and Cedric are the band's heart cedric feels the music in he's body why do you thing he dances while he sings and if you ask me cedric is one of the best singers out there with a awsome voice period!

  • Yeah, Fros take fucking ageeeeees to grow, believe me

  • right, he recorded amputechture

  • damn you omar!

  • WHO THE FUCK CARES what his hair looks like. Does it really effect his playing.NO!...its a damn shame Jon doesnt tour, I hope he does still record with them. Hes seriously half of why they are so good.

  • Fro's take a long time to grow mussa....It might not be the same as it was in 03

  • what a great segment. one of the tightest, best parts of that song. i fucking love this album.

  • Jon didn't leave the band, He will still record with them he just isn't touring anymore.

  • Wrong. He's out of the band entirely.

  • If Cedric danced a little less he could concentrate on his singing a little more... :[

  • wow cedric's singing is pretty horrible in that clip

  • O RLY? I actually think this song sounds really good live.

  • I dont think this song really fits Live...

  • i bet if you replaced any other member with a rhesus monkey or a desk lamp, they would sound the same

  • i wouldnt have minded at all if they replaced any1 other than jon. I'll bet you blake is gonna play every song like a robot, not adding emotion or anything to the song at all. i kno jon would have...and i'm even gonna go as far as say jon's drumming reminded me of ginger baker in his cream days. man i miss jon...

  • I didn't see any mistakes. And Jon left because Omar cut his fro. It's all been proven mathematically.

  • i miss jon's drumming. i mean i'll give blake a chance but jons departure took me by huge surprise. (his drumming on the scabdates version of concertina actually got me more into the mars volta) well i'm bummed! i was looking forward to hearing the amazing textured drum solos he does live but i guess thats not gonna happen now w/ jon not part of theband anymore :( there better be a damn good reason why they dropped him or why he left!

  • he refused to keep his fro'

  • man wtf is omar thinking cutting his afro. He better have a nice thick fucking afro when i see them the 31st. 24 days is plenty of time for it to grow.

  • Aww. Im sure Blake is good. But I really liked Jon and am a little bumbed I wont be able to see him at the Mars Volta shows I am going to. Oh well I am sure they will still be fucking incredible and this Blake guy has to be good too if hes good enough for Omar and Cedric.

  • So awesome... give Blake a chance to show what he's truly capable of! I'd quite like to know why Jon was replaced though...

  • Blake co-founded TMV, he did some of the track on deloused. So give the guy a chance.

  • I know he started with TMV and he played on some "early demos", but I haven't seen any credits for him, either on the album or by the record company stating that he played any of deloused. To my knowledge Jon started was on Tremulant and continued from there. If you disagree then please show me some evidence otherwise. I'm not trying to be difficult; it would genuinely interest me knowing what recordings Blake actually played on.

  • I would like to re-track from what I said about blake appearing on Deloused but he was still there from the beginning of TMV, so lets be patient and wait until we hear what his stuff sounds like, the band picked him for a reason.

  • learning all those songs in a couple of weeks is pushing him... and i think its ok.. i guess that we need to wait in order to see what he can ADD to the mars volta music...

  • Yeah, that's just amazing.

  • Man, he effed up really bad. All the pressure must have gotten to him.

  • I'm excited about Blake honestly. To learn those parts in 5 weeks is rediculously hard. They're going to sound different now, but I don't think thats a bad thing. We shouldn't judge him until we see it live anyway.

  • Did Omar cut his fro? Noooooooo!

  • hey not bad, doin good, SO FAR blake

  • like i said on another post:

we need to give the guy a chance i guess, he's got some big shoes to fill. Then again I think a band like mars volta should always welcome change. Jon fans are understandbly pissed but volta fans should let mars volta be what mars volta is and becomes. Jon will be missed but blake should be welcomed

  • Youtube tends to do that with alot of my videos.

As gay as it sounds, google video worked fine. But that takes a day to process.

  • well, i thought blake did just fine. who knows when the guy was handed the torch and was told "hey learn all these complex rock songs in a couple weeks and go on tour with us, oh and fill the shoes of one of the best recent drummers in rock music" give the guy a chance. oh, and i dunno why the audio is off, sorry.

  • Don't judge on this clip. I was there and the show was godly.

  • Um no, he doesn't suck , you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • you guys are all so weird focusing on the DRUMMER. Listen to the big picture, the music. I was there also, changed my life. I sure wasn't saying "hmm this song sounds a little off, the drumming totally sucks wow hes ugly!" C'mon. Don't even call yourself a mars volta fan.

  • that drummer sucks! and he's fugly!!!

  • WE miss Jon

  • To me, it sounds pretty much like the album. So it's good that Blake can reproduce the recording, but I'm interested as to what kind of new flavor he'll bring to the party.

  • too bad the sinc is off

  • WE miss Jon
