I guess he was more than willing to shoot some more, but after realizing the driver was hit he kinda diverted all his attention on the fact he was about to crash and die... But it's a movie and I still love this scene, even if it has realism flaws. Suspension of disbelief my friend

@Shamus8b8 Hey I love this scene too, but it's still fun for me to go back and look at it realistically. The guy doesn't actually fire a second time after shooting away the corpse head. He just screams in horror while staring at Leatherface and gets back into the car. Then, for some bizarre reason, he aims his gun towards the back window. Soon after, his friend bites the dust. It's just funny to think how LF could have been taken out so quickly, but it would have ruined a great movie!
