@HyperSleepy Disregard my last comment, that was stupid. But Wayne has mentioned in a few interviews that he doesn't like tripping out, but he has tried a lot of them. He was on a lot of meds for an injury though, idk if he's still taking them. A lot of people interpret a couple tracks on Yoshimi as a concept, so it kinda makes sense why people try to decipher the lyrics.
@HyperSleepy you really can't see the narrative of the lyrics? this theme has been covered many times in science fiction novels and movies. "Blade Runner", "I Robot" hell, even "terminator" Try putting more thought into it.
No, this song is clearly about thw writers inability to cooperate or understand our soicety. He feels that he is a 'robot' and thus is alienated from our society, but he soon finds the other outcasts of society, the other 'robots'. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Maybe it's just an a amazing song. Which it is.
@vveq Actually, milk or other creamy liquids are much more effective when dealing with extreme spiciness. Water will only exacerbate the situation. The more you know!
I love that genius music like this never makes the main stream, because the simple fact is that most people just don't understand what true creativity is, they simply follow bad trends. This is magic, I love it.
@crookedmelody1 I know what you mean, it is almost shameful that this is not incredibly popular music, I guess what I was reflecting on was the fact that these guys have maintained their art regardless of popular appeal, it's just great that there are people who see it's beauty.
@LiNaK37 Yeh, of course they should, that's what I said, unfortunately the majority of the population do not have enough knowledge of music to recognize the pure art these guys produce, that's why we have main stream music, the writers have had to conform to popular models of song writing in order to sell records, flaming lips choose to do what they love whether it's popular in the main stream or not. It's popular enough for them to keep doing it, lucky for us.
Uhh. MGMT came after. The lips influenced them and many others. The lips pioneered this style of music. Coyne is a genius, and the lips fucking owwn any of the more recent bands like them.
I wasgonna use the game fragile dreams with this song and have the scene where my favorite robot Crow dies. but the copyright rules got in my way. the timing was perfect too
there are some albums you are meant to listen to from 1st to last... they send you on a journey.... this is one... i have a whole story in my mind that replays... i love this story..
@jenirocksotb i know exactly waht you mean. i listen to this song close to every night before i go to sleep. although the songs are amazing individually
I had a dream for like a couple of seconds once... There was this giant robot M, like the transports in Tron. Only, this one was unknowably big -and in the middle of drop dead space. It was stuck in a river of orgone, and behind it -all these other M-Bots were trying to pull it back out. The two things that stuck out the most about it, was the loud EEEEE sound that deafoned everything -and the red spot in the center of the stuck M. It was growing like a heart.
@asphyxxx Yeah, I don't mean machines that use us as their energy source in that way, I'm quite familiar of the Matrix and its storyline. Thanks anyway!
oh, keep quiet! I've got to think. (The outer door slams again.) Your mother always used to give me poached eggs on toast at times like this. Well-I'm only fourteen.
This is such a beautiful song; the first time I heard it, it really struck an emotional chord with me. I can't even begin to describe how much I love this song.
