Did maintenance on an assortment of surplus military equipment sold into commercial use, and chinese the manufacturing quality is always piss-poor. Chinese industry lacks the alloying techniques and quality control of the west...meaning 2-3x the breakdown rate!

You can simply eyeball the suspensions on these and see the articulation is crap. At least they even copied the camelback suspension for rear truck suspension.

The old "Quantity > Quality" idea doesn't work int he modern world as well, as the technological edge is simply too decisive (look at the masses of T72s wiped out in the gulf by far less M1s, with impunity). Especially with equipment like off-road vehicles which are subject to high amounts of wear & tear.

All countries usually send out downgraded export models rather then the actual thing and keep the higher quality models for them selfs. Example would be the USA's export version of the Abrams weaker armor and the tech inside overall is less sophisticated then the actual non export version of the Abrams.

@redreaper2020 China only recently started to update its military. A lot of Chinese equipment still in use today are old outdated soviet era models. Its not really surprising that what you see being sold in the surplus are cheap copies of Russian equipment. Its understandable tho as the old "quantity>quality" did work back then but not now so thats why much equipment is being created with better standards today. This Humvee was co-developed by AMG and most of the parts for it are made in the US.

The springrates are less refined. The dampers are lower grade, and sometimes not even fitted. All chinese engines (and russian) guzzle fuel and are of poor steel quality, meaning more prone to overheating and catastrophic failure.
