Fast port of MAME to the Pandora handheld!

No, the first batch is supposed to ship this year, and they're going to make a second batch next year.

And still, after years of development, only the iPhone 3GS and N900 have come close to it in CPU / GPU performance, to say nothing of the superior input devices.

Sony's smallest portable device is something like 4.5 inches wide and 9.5 inches long, and it only has a 4 hour batteyr life.

It's much less portable than the Pandora. I can fit the Pandora in my pocket. Anything bigger means I have to carry a backpack.

I think I meant, "netbook", not the PSP... The PSP isn't even in the same class of computer as the Pandora.

It's pretty lame. Bigger than the Pandora, worse battery life.

I guess it's good if you want to sit on the couch for a few hours, but you need a free hand or a backpack to carry it.

I'd rather have no keyboard at all honestly, and just have the ability to plug in a USB keyboard when I wanted. I'll probably end up getting a GP2X Wiz instead even though it's not quite as powerful it seems - it's cheaper though...

Great stuff Zod, any small hope of virtua racing running on it? Or is that one of the non compatible games in this release? Though being 3D it would have to make use of the GPU to run such games? of course alot of coding would needed to be done.

One of my favorite games of all time, since I first saw it as a kid back in the eighties in an arcade at a small holiday camp in south west England (I remember it very well!)

I've waiting a long time to be able to play this fullspeed w/sound on a decent handheld.

Heh! That clicking sound is due to using a very old devkit. The retail Pandora won't have that sound. :)

looks great. gp32, gp2x, the wiz, pandora, etc are nothing without the great developers.

This is Outrun running on the Pandora. I ported it from mame4all which was on the GP2X. mame4all uses the 0.37 MAME Romset. I'm very tempted to port the latest MAME to Pandora to push further the now 2000 games able to be run on it. Pandora YAY! :)

Cool! As for the iPhone Installer repo, its for 1.1.4 firmware and earlier. Check out the Cydia repo for 2.x.x firmware. ;)

Hey zod, I have pretty much all your emulators, but here is a challenge is it possible ( can you make it ) a N64 Emu that is availiable for iPhone?

Sadly the iPhone just doesn't have the muscle (due to the processor and even the OS) needed to do an N64 emulator on it. An N64 Pandora, is to be seen though.
