all technique and zero attitude. for some people that's a good thing but for me it makes him dull. metal drummers are supposed to 'rock out' the crowd. it's not about playing perfect; it's about getting the crowd wild so they could tear the fucking place down. unfortunately this is what the metal culture has evolved into--musical nerds who have no attitude. this is why i miss the metal scene of the 80s.
I used to think that. Check out George kollias from deathmetalband NILE! he is wayyy better on many points. Faster, tighter, more technical and uses diffrent tuplets, triplets, quintuplets and that stuff. Chris adler doen't play bad, but he's overrated. NOBODY is the best in playing intstruments since music is a personal preference.
@Mayyhhem we know about George. lol He's cool, fast and powerful as hell but they play two different kinds of styles. George's more of a fast machine while Chris keeps it sticky and heavy, if you know what I mean. ^^ I look up at George for his speed (I' could never reach those tempos lol) and I look at Chris for presence; his groove. Just like I look at many other drummers to help me get better. Point is, I wrote more than what you asked for lol and I personally love Chris more. ^^ Rock on. :p
@Mayyhhem You say "music is a personal preference" and "Chris's overrated" Thats your point, for me no one's better than Chris, he is so fucking amazing, i don't know if there are better or not, i just love the way he plays.
I remember when the magnetic tour was in cincinnati me and my friends were in the nose bleeds and we saw that when they played this song that nobody was really doing anything so first we tried to sneak down to the floor to show how it was done. When we couldn't sneak past security we just started having our own mosh pit up in the nose bleeds
@MrFunkymonks They are playing a show with Metallica and one of Metallica's big rules is no moshing or body surfing.. So you can't mosh at that show... No moshing to Lamb of God... Doesn't sound right does it? Thank you Metallica for ruining the moshing!
@shredzilla71 Are you serious? Metallica have a no moshing or body surfing rule? What shit is that, fair enough the wall of death kind of fist moshing I can understand that because people do get seriously hurt but to ban moshing in all forms is retarded.
@genaschtes I can't argue that, he is easily one of the best drummers in metal and possibly one of the best drummers period. He's created memorable drum parts which is cool considering that most memorable parts of songs are guitar riffs or lyrics.
@alessandrozerbone That's because every other drummer is doing their job as a human metronome and concentrating on keeping time. Lars has to make up for his poor performances by spitting drinks into the crowd and standing on his kit.
I hate Lars Ulrich for 2 reasons! 1. He is no where near a great drummer....and 2. everyone in Metallica seems to have become whiny bitches.... No offense but now that they've aged they seem to think they are super human because of the success. Lars in 'Some kind of monster' was sad. my opinion...if you dont like it fuck off!
@KHfan4ever23 no he sucked, I wish they had the original tapes for the and justice for all drum tracks. The producers had to literally cut the tape and piece it together to get the fucking tracks in time.
@lookralphsbak no he was amazing when he came out the started slacking in late 90's 2000 but dude there old we got way better drummers now that would put lars to shame (no offence to anyone who like him and no offence to him check out jason costa of all that remains jason bittner of shadows fall and derek roddy of serpents rise all very solid drummers) stay metal everyone =] time is key for drummers by the way =]
@poopcookies7 I'm just sayng what I've heard. Lars couldn't play the tracks and the producers had to literally cut tape and tape them together. Of course the album sounds awesome, it would be retarded of a band like metallica to not edit the mistakes/flaws.
