THIS is the sound my Toronto in the 70's during nights at Bellows, David's, Mrs Knights and The Monkey Club. The drums and chorus part sent the energy through the roof!
Glad to see my Chicago boys representing Club LaRay! Oooooo weeee the times, the nights, the music. The only time I wish I was young again is when I hear these girls!
Was there EVER a group THIS fierce? They (Larry, David, et. al) worked this song for YEARS, and it's no wonder. To this day, I wanna RUN to the dance floor when I hear it. 84 King Forever.
I was introduced to this song in the 80s at a Chicago Club called LaRays on the North Side of Chicago. By the time the song was over, I needed a new pair of shoes.
@depluv2 Whenever I try to describe Club LaRay, I refer to it as Chicago's version of Studio 54. There weren't as many celebrities there, but the atmosphere and the music was incredible! I don't think there will ever be another club like it, ever again.
@depluv2 In case you didn't know, Club LaRay has a Facebook page. Google "Club LaRay: The Official Page" and check it out! There are great videos from a 1986 party at the club!
I absolutely love Labelle and anything that has to do with them. This song would come on at the Nickel bar on 72nd street back in the day and the floor would rock. We wore it out. There will never be days or music like that again. Thank you for the memories and I love the pictures.
LOVELY AND AMAZING HOW PATTI, NONA, AND SARA HAVE MAINTAIN LOVE & FRIENDSHIP OVER ALL THESE DECADES. MOST FEMALE GROUPS FALL APART AFTER THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL SINGLE.
I love Patti to no end....but it really HURT when LaBelle split....the vocal harmonies these Sistas pulled off were incredible....and their live show and the costumes were mind blowing....thanx for the Great Post....Peace & Love
