  • the difference between Jon Lord and other classical musician, he could play with his feeling and soul, he only look at the paper when he needed to, not like many other that look at the paper their entire time

  • WOW!!! SOOO CLOOOL!!

  • AH! AH! AH! To Ian Paice a wand had departed but has taken back her to the flight. And' also a good juggler besides being a great drummer.

  • magical music! they mixed symphony, rock, jazz, caffe concerto....excellent!

  • soo good this version :D and loove the catching the stick right at the end xDDD :P

  • this is pure jazz man, crazy pops

  • First rate players! Miss Jon Lord too.

  • Paice has ran out of power for Wring That Neck.

  • This is the only violin solo I have heard in a rock music track.

  • Look at Ian Paice 0:59, he's playing jazzzzz! I think

  • Paice is God.

  • violin blues i love that

  • does anybody have the orchestra notes????? i would love to play this masterpiece with my band.....

  • love that song, im playing it on the piano!

  • paice looks like he drops his stick lol but he doesnt

  • @anonymouslolxD ... actually... at 4:15, he DOES let a stick fly. paicey keeps a supply of spares right under the hi-hat, when he does occasionally drop one he can grab a replacement and keep going literally without missing a beat.

    now THAT'S a pro!

God bless these guys for carrying on 40 years later!

  • what year was this? I saw Stockholm, hm? in -98? with Budapest symphoni orchestra if I rememember right.

  • 1999

  • yeah!! Paice is the man!

  • Amen!

  • Jon Lord is a God...

  • I agree!!

  • great jazz song but I've heard some mistakes from the trumpet section..

  • You're funny! I wasn't realy paying attention to them. I love seeing Lord and Glover in action.

  • Remarkable how GENINE PURPLE invites brass to wring-that-neck ..they merely just fill the empty spaces...if ther eare...with back-groung no-meaning-brassy-thing.

On brasse les bières...pas la musique.

  • I love Ritchie's playing (Steve's too!), but I personally miss Jon Lord more. That guy is so seriously under-rated.

  • my words!!

  • magic

  • I like the fiddle players "viagra" shirt lol

Deep Purple sound great here! Imagine if they had Blackmore

  • I love heavy metal and hard rock the most, but I have a deep appreciation for blues, jazz and classical, so this was very interesting, fun and entertaining to listen to. Deep Purple in one of the few bands (also Black Sabbath) that can pull something like this off and still sound godly

my love of different styles of my goes like this

    1.) Hard Rock

    2.) Heavy Metal

    3.) Blues

    4.) Classical

    5.) Jazz

or a combination of any of them, especially with rock

  • yeah but that style that you mention has a name "Ritchie Blackmore". You mention just purple and sabbath.... you must to listen Rainbow

Try: Catch the Rainbow, gates of babylon, long live rock n roll, rainbow eyes, kill the king, stargazer, sensitive to light, light in the black...Most of the songs from their first albums, where were together Ronnie James Dio(Dio and sabbath)Cozzy Powell (Jeff Beck, sabath, whitesnake) and the great Ritchie Blackmore, if you like AOR lsiten the next albums

  • actually the bands I listen to the most are Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Dio, Elf, Gillan, Godsmack, Heaven and Hell, Ian Gillan Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne and Rainbow. I own four Rainbow albums (There debut, Rising, On Stage, and Long Live Rock 'N' Roll.

  • This song is one of the highlights of their often-forgotten first lineup. MKI Deep Purple was a great great band, but people only remember Deep Purple from In Rock onwards. Their first three albums with Rod Evans on vocals and Nick Simper on bass are amongst my all-time favourites. My favourite song from that era is "The Painter".

  • Thanks for the info, I'm going to check out "The Painter" right now. I have no idea if I know that song.

  • Who's the fiddle player?

  • HUH! It's not right...

  • purple can play everything :)

  • Ian Paice est excellent...comme toujours!

  • Paice is the man of this version. Simply great drumming. Whereas Lord is repeating his solo phrases for - who knows how many times. No progress since the early 70s at all.

  • Another blinding solo from Lordy.

Violin player is pretty nifty too.

  • I like this jazz version whith orchestra, but i still prefer the original one whith those wonderfull guitar solo's of Ritchie Blackmore.

Jon Lord did a very good job in this video.

  • I just watched the 'Wring That Neck' versions from 1969/70 and they were great! No comparison. This here is just terrific. I think i would walk away from a concert like this.

  • more like wring that mouthpiece

  • lol do you have hearing problems??

  • sorry guys but from me its a big NO

  • A big band version. I love it. Shows you how verstile Deep Purple is.

  • Ian paice drops a stick at the end, looks cool nevertheless!

  • Ian paice is the shit..holy mother-ucking shit!!..deep purple is the ultimate bomb..

  • Good effort, interesting experience... but they turn it into a RayConiffesque version. This one cannot be done without Ritchie on the lead, but sadly now he's more interested in pricesses jailed in enchanted castles.

  • you only think that deep purple it's blackmore. no my dear, deep purple still alive and they are playing better than before.

  • You're very wrong, my dear! I do like Purple right now as much as then. I just went to a gig last week and they were superb; however I too believe Steve could pitifully do this number as Richie did.

  • well this sucks.... without ritchie rich

  • You suck! LOL

  • It's probably a great experience for them (i.e. Lord, Glover, Paice and the orchestra) but I don't care for it very much. Early performances of this piece always were an excuse for the band to kid around and self-indulge a little, I guess that didn't change, but I did.

  • Nothing beats doing this for a living, I don't care WHAT the garbage man says.

  • Love to see true musicians playing together. Thanks

  • Many thanks for your video... pretty cool!!!!

    Gracias amigo!

  • lol we dont need distortion from ritchie that would ruin the song.... annd he did not like it cause all he can do is rock, he dont know how to play along with jazz and that stuff..

  • It's interesting, but have to agree that this particular track doesn't really work without Ritchie- it was after all his showpiece.

  • good grief its like deep purple plays james last, i like the track but when its purple this for me is hooked on rock without the hand claps

  • why is this without Ritchie a crime!? the first time they played with an orchestra Ritchie didn't even like it first!

  • Definately not the same with smiley on guitar. Doing this without Ritchie is a crime.

  • too bad , ritchie isnt here to pull out many tricks ;)

  • Ah. Ah wonderfull

  • 1999 actually

  • Pretty cool! Lord is the Master! When was this show?

  • it was in 2ooo

  • Nice...

  • Wring That Neck... An all time purple classic
