  • `

where is MY pink floyd? huh? where is my great gig in the sky??? not that crap one. where is it?

  • no no no NNNOOOOOOOOOOO, screech, awful\

  • the song of CLARE TORRY

  • Love it. Preferred the second woman's vocals though.

  • That first chick started cracking like an egg..

  • first woman wasn't too good :| but its ok

  • It's only my opinion, i see that for some people this is a sublime interpretation, and maybe they undersand more of singing then me :D

  • The interpretation of the first solo it's horrible for me...The only bad thing in all the concert!

  • Rachel Fury, the first solo, sublime .... poignant interpretation!

  • I wait Pink Floyd someday!!...I from Argentina

  • @abeldiablo102 Don' t hold your breath Muchacho!

  • teh third lady is the winner

  • Greatest orgasm ever put to music

  • @bothrops9

    TRUE

    (ahh, ahh... :D)

  • SHIVERS <3 !

  • I think the 89' shows missed Margaret Taylor, the best backing vocalist from the Gilmour led era in my opinion..

  • @chris01837

I agree about Margaret taylor, as I had commented a couple weeks ago. I wore out my VHS tape of Delicate Sound of Thunder watching this song over and over.

  • @ncyankee, well sam started out mellow then i think she stepped in up really great!

I stil haven't heard rachel yet, (been busy) but this weekend i will do the search. So Rachel in Delicate Sound of Thunder then. I had the album. Should have kept it! I will look around for another! I always wanted to visit Pitt! Maybe next year when the steelers play for the AFC Championship Title! lol

  • @TheRocksteady1985

i think the reason I don't love Sam brown's version as much as many others seem to is that she changed it too much from the original. The other singers have managed to stay mostly faithful to Clare Torry while still giving it their own personal feel, her version was barely recognizeable in places. I also feel that the first part of the song is supposed to represent the energy and vigor of youth, and her version just didn't do that for me.

  • @ncyankee, i will check it out. I think the blonde in Pulse-1994 did a fantastic job! I don't know her name. So you must be from the midwest? I live in Mich.

  • @TheRocksteady1985

Sam Brown was the one in the Pulse video, I thought she was OK but maybe a little too mellow and laid-back, I prefer rachel when she is not hoarse, she really puts a lot into it.

yes I am from the pittsburgh area originally.

  • @TheRocksteady1985

If it helps find it, the version I like is from the Delicate sound of thunder video. It would be so much easier if you could post links in the comments.

  • WTF?!

  • she sounded like a sick bird getting choked! Lol the 2nd half much better though

  • @TheRocksteady1985

Rachel is much better in the one at Nassau Coliseum, she was definitely hoarse here - look for the 1988 one with black dresses. The third woman - Margaret Taylor - was the best I have seen yet. Same lineup as when I saw them live in 1987 and 88 in Pitt and Cleveland.

  • La voce della corista distorce un pò.....

  • Yep - she's done this a few too many times and has got herself hoarse. There's no substitute for Claire Torrey - the black voice trapped in a white girl's body

  • She can't hit the high ones. Long live Clare Torry.

  • Rachel I was born in the 60s I grew up with Floyd Great GiG in the Sky is truly a part of my inner being it has a special place in my heart thank you for your awsome talent you to are vary special Floyd thanks man you rock true fan in colorado

  • Best vocals by the girls at Venice. But the girl at the end is something else. Beautiful

  • 2:22 fail!!

  • terremoto per l'anima

  • Its not Sam Brown thats for sure!!! But Sam isn't Clair Torre either

  • Rachel, even if singing out of tune, it is surely an incredible sound, mindblasting beautiful. This caracterizes the real star she really is.

  • Beautiful performance. Any woman duly capable of attempting this solo should be recognized as someone with an incredible set of pipes. The range, breathing and dynamics required for this tune was Clare Torry's very best in the studio; something people should realize. It is likely even Clare herself back then would be unlikely to replicate her own sound outside of an isolation vocal booth.

  • mi emoziono ad ogni ascolto.......

  • this is exactly how I feel 2day!

  • this music is nothing without the original Claire Torry!

  • LADIES AND GENTLEMANS...

THE BEST BAND IN HIS STYLE...OF THE WORLD.

    ¡ PINK FLOYD !...

  • Rachel had been on tour almost every night for over 2 and a half years at this point. Her voice was just over worked. I checked the tour dates for 87,88,89. Also, I notice that McBroom and Margaret are not at this concert. They were probably taking a break. Rachel most likely HAD to be there. Gilmore DID replace her part in Comfortably Numb with Sam Browns at some point but i think that was on the Delicate Sound of THunder but I'm not sure. RACHEL, please comment on this if you would. Thanks

  • Check out this version of Rachel Fury and Gig in the Sky.

  • I was there, sat in a gondola - bet night of my life

  • why i wasn't there and i could...? that's my life

  • i was there for this :D

  • unicy nell loro stile..arte!!! grandi pink floyd,,,,

  • 2:05 INCREDIBLE!

  • The first girls sounds awful, the others a bit better.

even Claire Torry is incapable of singing it Live like she did in the Studio version.

IMO the best Live version by far is Bianca Antoinettes's (search it on youtube)

  • @roccopozzi The first woman is Rachel Fury and she must have had a sore throat or something because she is struggling here. I've seen her sing this songs numerous times before and she sounded like this song was written for here. One year earlier in Madison Square Garden she sounded perfect and without problems. It was the best performance I had ever heard.

  • @roccopozzi Check out this version of Rachel Fury and Gig in the Sky.

    youtube(.)com/watch?v=MLHvohd8SJg&feature=related

  • This song rocked St Marco Square. Half a million people grooving to this tune and the Italian women, oh man.

  • Beauty eh

  • just great

    every time

    my body

    woww

  • This song just is'nt made justice when played live... it's supposed to be really powerful like on the record, somehow it's not live

  • @Murgroena

I agree that nothing compares to the original but to me, this rendition does justice to one of my faves of all time.

  • 1:28 Owns

  • Only clare torry can sing it...

  • Only Clare Torry

  • me eriza la piel...

  • well it sounds like Rachel did a "Ian Gillan" and destroyed her once angelic voice... Just listen To the great gig in the sky delicate sound of thunder one year before this. There she sings it perfect:-)

  • If she ruined her chords and this is the result, I can't possibly imagine how heavenly she sounded before. I'm a little skeptical. Ahem.

  • @nikldan Just watch the Delicate sound of Thunder version and you'll she, she was fantastic.

  • temaso increible xD

  • 2:40 Stunning

  • OR Clare Torry the original even better

  • Magique!

  • squirrel pig!!

  • ALLORA AVEVO 17 ANNI, IN 1à FILA, UN ESPERIENZA IRRIPETIBILE, PARAGONABILE, FORSE, SOLO AL CONCERTO DI vASCO A s. sIRO DEL '90 E AL MONSTER OF ROCK DELL'86, AL CONCERTO DEGLI AC DC

  • thank you so much for sharing this marvellous music. It´s amazing, it´s so different and so great, the voices are divine...

  • she sucks!!, prefer the original

  • Here she is great:

Great Gig in the Sky - Delicate Sound of Thunder - Pink Floyd 1988 HD

  • fuck motherfucked!

  • That is the most beautiful tooth gap I have ever seen.

  • tottaly agree !!

  • @nikldan not only the mostbeautiful tooth gape but also the most attractive body shape and an incredible voice ;)

  • they should've had sam brown on this. her performance on pulse was amazing!

  • I can't believe that some people here have issues with Rachel Fury's performance. I just looked for this because I hadn't seen the Venice gig in a wihle because I only have it on VHS. To me this is one of the best Pink Floyd moments of all times.

  • I am now officially in love with Rachel Fury.

  • {choke} god that's bad!

  • wheres Sam Brown when you need her?

  • @Hanakoa12 Yes Rachel had started losing her voice after singing this part for a few years. It really took it's toll on her voice. She had one of the most beautiful voices I had ever heard. I hope she got it back after much needed rest.

  • @Hanakoa12 sam brown is rubbish compared to ms fury. great!!!!!!!! makes my haires stand to attention every time. the earlier gig is better, shes got a sore throat in this one. look for the one with the little black dresses

  • @Hanakoa12 Sam Brown didn't get as tired on the long haul as Rachel did, but rachel put SO much more into her performance, sam brown is so good, but kinda boring. . . amd Rachel had a few good shows, just not this one

  • I Was there. I just can tell you that's it is hard to sing this song as well as in a studio recording. She's singin' up on a floating platform in the middle of Bacino San Marco....water,humidity,wind and so on...last thing, there was about 300 thousands people...

  • I gotta respectfully disagree with you posters not liking the first chick. I find her amazing and I do know this song well. But not everyone likes the same thing. She gets it for me though.

  • that chicks voice sucks.

  • Who let that 1st chick up on stage surrounded by all that incredible talent? I have 15 version on one playlist, this one is coming off. To bad cause the next two female artist's are VERY good.

My favorite so far is PULSE.

  • I sware that gilmour is one of the best pedal steel players around because he and wright give this song so much feeling. Man i hope he comes around, but i guess id see roger also. Roger does not have the voice to pull off alot of songs anymore

  • The first vocalist chick owned, period.

  • rachel fury !! forgive my bad spelling !!

  • mi mette sempre i brividi..

  • Definitely the best ever released version of this song.

Rachel Fury the spade, Durga McBroom the heart, and the last one (I don't remember her name even I love her) , somewhere in the middle...

The force reside in the contrast between each singers. This contrast and evolution has already been interpreted by Clare Torry at the first take of this song.

    This tri-interpretation is a masterpiece.

  • P.U.L.S.E. Version is much more better!

  • I must confess the first girl sounds a bit likes she is chocking on cock

  • nice !! thanks for that .. you TWAT !

  • clearly not on your one inch hard on !!

  • Saw them in Paris in 1989. Second singer is Durga McBroom who sang 'Naked in the Rain'

  • that's amazing song...that ladys are really incredible singers...

  • don't tell me that this was shot from someone' window...

  • who is that lady with the powerfull voice

  • clare torry

  • By far the very best would be the one and only Bianca Antoinette check her out and tell me if I'm not correct.

  • Check out the australian pink floyd version,

    also excellent

  • It sounds like she's about do die! She ruined the song!

  • I know man they should have let the second girl do the whole thing, she is a billion times better than the first girl.

  • this song is about death!

  • dude

    the songs about dying

  • rachel fury.... (and he smiled silently)

  • She sings good but it's just not enough for this masterpiece. It should have been completely clear voice. That's what makes it so great...

  • you listen to the original recording and think how hard could it be to find someone else to scream in tune to someone playing the piano and then you see these live versions that don't have clair torry and you realize that no matter who else sings this song it just isnt right unless clair sings it....no one else even comes close

  • sorry but i love floyd but she was a bad choice

  • Led Z. is right. When I listen to this interpretation of a normally one of the hotest recordings I´m dissapointed too.

Luckyly there was no whale stranding because of the .... tones.

Where is the best recording of this on you tube. I never find it.

    Greetings

  • love this song. im a diehard floyd fan but that first singer sucks. you cant blame that on the recording. holy shit!

  • No one sings "Great Gig in the Sky" better than Clare Torry, or any black woman apparently, because black women have that amazing soul and passion in their voices that just can't be surpassed, as seen in this song. this would have been alot better if the second singer sang the whole song.

  • Uh, Sam Brown did it. Her part in the Pulse version was fantastic and better than the original.

  • Madonna come stona

  • I think the first singer was awesome admittedly her voice did break, but we dont know how many times she had to sing in other shows/rehersal. very sensual.

  • Comment removed

  • What IT should be, sorry.

  • Everything she does ( I mean Rachel) here is what should be . ABSOLUTELY!

  • Incorrect. There are no "inappropriate points" in the song. She's a famous singer and you are completely unaware of her history and talent as is obvious by calling her "this first singer." The song itself is brilliant and has no inappropriate points. I don't think you "get" the song or the few singers that can perform it. Is Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night not doing "a good job" just because he only sold one painting? What seem like imperfections to you in the song are brilliant accents to most.

  • you are misunderstanding me. i didnt say that the song had inappropriate points, her voice did, The song, i mean piece, is great throughout. At some points it is important to get it right, which she doesnt.

I dont need to be aware of her history to pass judgment on her, otherwise i would end up liking her even if she does a bad performance. just like you.

    i

  • great reply!!

  • i wonder if anyone agrees with me when i write "this first singer really doesn't do a good job here"

Please reply with your approval or disproval

  • To be honest, I have to disapprove. Rachel Fury is one INCREDIBLE singer, especially on this DSOT tour. I tend to like this performance better then Pulse, but thats just me. Rachel Fury does a great job on the notes of this songs as do the other two women. (Rachel being my fav) This song is incredible to hear on the DSOT concert out there on DVD. The Versailles (sp?) version is my fav. So, I think Rachel Fury does a spectacular job on this song. :)

  • You're a f-ing nutcase retard. She's awesome. You no-tallent lamer.

  • there s no need to be offensive, i may be a f-ing nutcase but im no retard.

Her voice is scratchy at inappropriate points in the piece

  • you are right tensago she fucking blows , who gives a shit about her so called talent. This is one of the worst performances i have ever seen of great gig in the sky. Its like she didnt even fucking care. Dont friquen tell me people of how i couldnt do this and shit because i aint no fag

  • i think she has an amazing voice...

but its just not fit for the song.

  • ya its just her high note sucks so bad

  • Oh my god i totally agree i thought she was not very good, to scratchy, second singer was better.

  • the thery best

  • i think the major person to credit for this wonderful song is the original singer, Clare Torry. it's the screaming part that makes it a masterpiece... richard wright also has a share on it, of course... but i see everybody saying "thanks richard" and i don't agree that much

  • Io c'ero...li davanti...

  • beato te

  • The Best Version.

  • God! I've got no words to explain how I feel when I hear this song! My skin crawls! I just adore it! Thank you Richard, you'll live forever in our hearts!

  • Mr. Wrights masterpiece. Dark Side of the Moon would not have been the rock phenomena it has become without him and this song. Period.

    Thanks Rick. RIP.

  • IO C ERO CAZZO CHE FIGATA

  • This piece has become like a timeless opera: we wait to hear how the female character will perform her part. In this case, she did not do a perfect job. Yet Richard Wright's music will live on forever. R.I.P., Richard.

  • GoodBye

    There's nothing you can say

    GoodBye.

  • goodbye richard.

    you will be missed.

  • Shine on you Crazy Diamond Forever!!!

  • Shine on you Crazy Diamond.

    Blown on the steel breeze.

Come on you raver, you seer of visions,

come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner,

    and SHINE!

  • You Wrote This.....And Now You're There...

We'll Miss You Dearly Man....Hope You And Syd Start Something Cool There....

  • gonna miss ya man...you made it to the great gig in the sky!

  • RIP Rick Wright, you legend you.

  • she makes my ears bleed, not a good version imho

  • She must stop smoking !

  • You are all 'Talented and Beautiful Ladies'...

    Thankyou..

  • 1:29 Lol

  • Yes my name is Lorelei McBroom. Thank you for the compliment! Nobody does it better than Pink Floyd!!! I also appeared with my sister Durga, Rachael Fury, Roberta Freeman and Margaret Taylor in the Pink Floyd videos for "Dogs Of War" and "On The Turning Away". All the best to you.

  • Hello Lorelei! nice to meet you!

  • Wow, I found your solo the most tasteful! I love how you do those pauses, it makes it way more interesting!!

  • iiiiiih really? Really you was the third singer? Oh mamma mia! But you are great! Your voice is amazing! My father was there in 1989, i was 2 years old and when i listen pink floyd he always told me about this wonderful concert!

    sorry for my bad english...

    ciao!!!

    Roby

  • I am the third singer in this video and the poster before me is right. The first girl is Rachael Fury, the second is Durga McBroom and the third is Lorelei McBroom. It's so nice to see this one online. Rachael was sick and that effected her performance that night, but she has a tremendous talent! That was a GREAT experience.

  • Cybersiren really you was the third singer in this video? Your voice was (is) incredible, fantastic! I love Pynk Floyd and i loved your performance. I don't knew that Rachael Fury was sick these night

  • What happened to Rachel Fury!!

  • God I love Rachel Fury, she just looks so beautiful. Not her best performance though :P

  • Pink Floyd make the other rock bands sound like crap. They are the greatest...

  • I'd like to see any of you lot do any better. Rorrt is right. Venice looks a little chilly.

  • eessh.

    the singing wasn't wonderful

    =\
