This is one of those movies where you don't expect anything and you get bombarded with everything.

The name is called "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"...very good movie with Val Kilmer playing a gay detective and Robert Downey doing good job as well plus some actress called Michelle Monaghan (also very good)...came out around 2003-2004 (not sure exactly)...directed by guy who wrote the first "Lethal Weapon"...HTH...
