  • Ty Hoff is a beast

  • When I was young I used the Seemiller type racket grip.I was a fair player who cleaned up at the local tournaments. But... as the competition got better, the disadvantages were all too apparent.I just could not beat a player of equal skill. You have very quick forehand and quick changeover to the backhand, but with very limited control or power. I eventually went to a standard grip at about age 22,but my game never really developed any further.

  • question to all "twiddlers," flat-hitters and anti-spin players: how do you live with yourselves? can you actually sleep at night, knowing what your styles look like? turn from your evil ways while you still can...while you still have a vestige of decency and can call your soul your own....

  • Seemiller was indeed a good player but hardly world class. Would have thought that Marty Reisman being #1 seed for the 1954(?) World Championships would make him the highest ranked US player by a very, very long way.

  • A grip for flat-hitters. Too stiff for looping...

  • There's a very good reason why nobody uses a "Seemiller" grip. It's a specialized grip that uses the full potential of anti-spin type rubbers by twiddling the paddle. It's similar to a one sided j-penhold. As afore mentioned, it's a "specialized" grip for him and he's really good at it.

  • he dosen't look to tough lol

  • He will be 55 this year and still rated in the top 25 in the USA. I think thats pretty darn good. The people with the negative comments don't know how to work an opponent or create a point. They are looking for someone with perfect looking strokes (the type you see during practice or warm up. Sure they can't hit those strokes during the match, but they LOOK GOOD. I thought "image is everything" had died but I guess not.

  • Got remember he's kinda old

proabably was a beast in the early 80's

  • True dat, 5 time US champ when they had legit world class players like the Boggans.

  • I bought your table tennis book, it was ok,

  • I dont like the SeeMiller grip of holding the paddle

it stretches the fingers to much

he probably has WICKED arthritis by now lol

  • how do you do the seemiller grip theres no pictures of it anywhere i can find

  • u sure?

well hold your hand like your giving the LOSER signal then shift it to the left or right

it's the thumb & index finger on one side of the rubber

  • so are both the index finger and the thumb straight? i think it seems like they should be

  • @ThatGuyAgen yes like a check mark

thumb & index ARENT on the handle but rather the rubber or paddle face

  • How does this guy suck if he is ranked 19 in the world. His very name is the definition of a Seemiller grip, and has a paddle made after him from Butterfly.

  • He is NOT ranked 19th in the world where did you dig that lie up?

  • i meant 19th in the world during his playing career. check google and type in "dan seemiller rank" to find real legit websites backing this claim or type his name on wiki even though wiki is iffy.

  • not like anyone here is near that rank kk?

  • His realtive Randy SeeMiller

is the top dog @ the Pittsburgh SouthPark

    table tennis club

  • these guys suck crap

  • better than you rofl

  • jballa15, by reading your comment you prove that you don't have the ability to play table tennis because you are a f**king retard.

  • jballa, your comment shows that you are inmature and also shows that u never play table tennis before,it takes eyes and hand coordination, and is one the fastest sports in the world, but u cant see that because you are a retard

  • 2008 US open under 2600 champion right there

  • wow, i thought he was better.

  • Zoran Kosanovic, the serbian/canadian player would rock eric and danny ranked 7th in the world at one point

  • I played with Zoky back in Aruba in the early 80's I thing it was. He was there for vacation. I think he had a paddle after his name as well. Very good player, may god bless his soul

  • zoki was an amazing player, 5 time canadian champ.. 2 time european, and many other great wins. Son in law of highly respected in tt community George Jovanov. not only was zoran my inspiration, but my uncle as well.

  • eric boggan was ranked 17th or 18th in the world..best american born player ever

  • There have been some impressive world class pip players. In Dan's case he freakin' invented that style of play. At his ripe old age he's still has a 2500+ rating. How would you do against him? I spank a lot of guys using Sriver and H3 and my ranking is under 2000.

  • Wasn't Seemiller the highest ranked USA Player of all time? If so, all thumbs down are a jealous joke. Dare to be different. Not everyone has to stand back 10-ft and loop like a topspin junky. All of you Euro table tennis trashcans need to wake up. 1990 is long gone. The Chinese fast attack players have reclaimed all the top slots. It will take an innovator like Mr. Seemiller to rock the pong world! Go Dan Go!!

  • In modern Table Tennis Eric Boggan was the hightest World ranked USA Player.

  • At least he doesn't stand back 10 feet and loop like a borning topspin junky. Dare to be different. Wasn't Seemiller the highest ranked USA player of all time? If so, all thumbs down are a jealous joke.

  • hey cloudfire, what does your dad think about his signature racket, the butterfly one thats on the north american series

  • It seems a little bit presumptuous to say so-and-so is "not that good" and provide as evidence the types of rubber he uses or because he "plays differently from lots of people". I think it's healthy for there to be a variety of styles in table tennis - and if people can play at a high level with pips out, or anti-spin, or the Seemiller grip, or whatever - more power to them.

  • ok cloudfirexx3, no need to get personal. It wasn't an attack on your father, it was a simple opinion (and not that uninformed either) expressed by a fellow table tennis pupil.

  • haydon lee, your an idiot, he uses sriver and super anti and hes 2500, your only 1200 so you suck anyways.. just to let you know, i know this cause hes my dad freakin moron

  • im not making fun of him or anything but just saying he plays differently from lots of people. he uses a dif. grip and anti spin. and no i am not 1200 im like 1500-1600 check my rating i just came from baltimore at the 2007 NA teams and ive been only playing for a year and i am joola sponsored

  • ur joola sponsored? i dont see your name on the joola website

  • check again under aspiring juniors

  • go onthe webstie and go to aspiring juniors

  • that doesnt count anybody can sign up for that so u dont have real sponsorship

  • dan seemieler is not that good he uses anti spin rubber and short pips. who uses thes rubbers when they are top players in the world. seemiller was once top player in the world, but who uses these kinds of rubber timo boll uses sriver. wang liqin uses hurricane, oh sang eun uses sriver, joo se hyuk uses tackfire

  • not that good?!

  • ananın a.........

  • Who is seemiller playing against? What event.

  • From what I have been able to figure out with the help of the About dot com Table Tennis forum board, Dan Seemiller is playing Robert Shahnazari in the over 30 Singles at the 2006 nationals.
