Hi I just have a question, I just bought a 7D but i'm not sure how to change the aperture in Manual mode, the back dial button doesn't seem to change the aperture? Ive heard something about making sure the on/off switch is all the way into the top on position but i have clue what that means? Any ideas?
I was actually debating on 7D or the D60. I am not a professional by any means... but I do plan to give this my all and hopefully make money from my work. I may just go with the 7D... any advice for newbies?? Great video btw...
@MsNJohnson the 7d is a good choice a great camera IF you can get your hands on one with all thats going on in japan today. i would say read, shoot ,market yourself on twitter( @wrightwayphoto ) and shoot some more.
@34skyline yo get a better body that wether sealed. the t31 is a very cheap. also you get twice the speed on the 7D and you get a 19 point AF SYSTEM .
Cool video. Just one thing, have you encountered any modern digital camera where it is hard to start the camera/turn it to ON? Since you mentioned it...
Actually, I think it's one of the cons on the 7D, since it's on the left side, meaning you can not pull the camera from your bag and take a snap shot with just one hand.
I can't wait to get mine!! I'm ordering mine with the battery grip and just the body. Then I'm going to order the 70-200mm f2.8 Sigma tele-photo lens :D I'm getting it around X-mas XD
u are the only person that has ever showed the flash ACTUALLY go off haha not to forget to mention take pictures and the such getting mine tuesday CANT WAIT! Will post unboxing video and will do a lil something unique wit mine too. Great review man

@sasktank press the AF Drive button near the top screen, then change the setting to 'High Speed Continuous' using the wheel. The setting is represented by the icon with multiple squares crossing over.
@sasktank I dont think you do need the optional battery grip. Try having the focus on One Shot. If you have it on AI Focus or AI Servo it will be refocusing inbetween shots and slowing down the rate.
@kensho3 just shot a second video using this camera, only had the camera two weeks, it is a great camera to shoot with...check it out Ls centz i lost my baby and Ls voicemail...
Hey thanks from Australia! Awsome review- already have the camera but still have heaps to learn about it.. In the beginning was unsure about what camera to buy and thought mabey this was the wrong one but am so happy now- your review was heaps encouraging!
I'm considering the 7D over the 50D. All I need to know is a few more things about the 7D: 1. Is there auto focus during video recording? How about auto exposure? 2. Does it have an ear phone jack input for audio monitoring? 3. Can you record a time-lapse? 4. How long can you record, considering battery and memory? Please help.
I would also like 2 know HOW LONG DOES THE BATTERY LAST in HD 1080 VIDEO MODE? using auto focus only for now, once i'm experienced, i'll go full manual. I can't find/google that answer anywhere! (They only say 800 still shots, but that doesn't answer my video question)
P.S. I'm thinkin follow-focus wheel comes in handy :)
@awarriorg24, Google your questions, & check Canon website, they'll answer most of your other questions - I had your same ?'s also, I found those answers: if I can, any1 can)
@Shaggy72 just shot a second video using this camera, only had the camera two weeks, it is a great camera to shoot with...check it out Ls centz i lost my baby and Ls voicemail...
@Shaggy72 I've been on shoots where the battery has lasted up to four hours. Also, the 7D doesn't have auto-focus for video; it has auto focus for still photography that also works on video, but there's no proper auto-focus option for the actual video function.
what are you talking about? sisis can still use the small green(auto mode) square on the dial :P the creative modes sound interesting i hope someday get a 7D or better body. am with a 450D now.
nice! im about to sell my 50d to get one of those buggers. I'm upgaing for the ultimate benifts of the focusing. more focusing points means my shots comosure isn't soely based on 9 very spaced focusing pionts! haha. ocourse I'm ony using auto focus when i'm being lazy, which happens a lot when i'm shooting sports, and the subjects are moving to quickly for my unskilled focusing skills. haha. also I've been itching to do some video. 2 in 1 seems worth it!-
I wanted to comment... Is there really "no comparison between this and th 50D? that seems like quite the statement. I'm not saying the ugrades aren't totally woth the extra pennies, but in terms ot the final result, the photo quality won't be much different compared to the 50D.
the camera setup/user ability just makes the 7D more convenient. that conveience makes it desireable to photo jounralists and sports photographers who need such speedy results. I'm not saying it's not a much better camera. it is!!! I can't wait to have mine. i'm just saying the cliche saying, (in m own words...) a pro could get the same results with any camera put in front of him. fuck... Im ranting...
you didn't need to hear this. I guess I'm just writing this down as my own personal note pad, so I don't forget what I was thinking! haha. how do you like the auto focus system? any tips on the video editing? I heard there can be some difficulty with its format (or whatever..). thanks.
my 7d will blow 5d out the box in video mode to much jello in the 5d full frame, but on the other hand taking a pic them 5d full frame will get the 7d this is what i have seeing between the to lol
actually i have heard the 5D has less jello, and also seen side by side comaprison and it does have less. But i have a 7D and love it anyway, but it has to stay still while video mode.
Hi There, thanks for posting this great review!I'm just now going to watch your others! It's so useful when your deciding which to buy! I'm torn between the Nikon D300s and this Canon 7d!Oh no offense intended but you need to change your intro music LOLs. :-(

Can you manually focus with buttons on the camera or do you need to touch the lens for that?
I like to play with depth of field in videos, but manually focusing using the lens always brings unwanted motion to the video. Sorry if my question seems ignorant. I'm a bit new to DSLR's.

Personally, I would definitely get the 7D over the 50D. Better processor, more megapixels, HD video (which is useful since I make videos here on youtube), faster burst speed than the 50D, supposedly functions better in low light conditions. Like pointed out, the only downside is that it's crop sensor and therefor a full frame would have a wider depth of field, but it would definitely hold me over till I could afford a 5D mark ii

size is like the 5d mk2.... who told you that?
the 5dmk2 is bigger than the 7d.
7D is the same size as the 50d. go to the digital picture and compare both...
Canon 5dmk2: (152 x 113.5 x 75mm)
Canon 50D: (145.5 x 107.8 x 73.5mm)
Canon 7d: (148.2 x 110.7 x 73.5mm)
So it isn´t that big

I heard that the 7D tends to create more noise because of its amazing 18 mp or something like that... do you think that the 7D will have an over amount of noise due to megapixel count??
904SF 2 years ago
i think its on how you shoot. I shot a wedding this weekend at iso 300-1000 and i got good clean photos.
wrightwayphotography 2 years ago
I saw a few comparison shots between the 7D and its rival, the Nikon D300s.
Even though the D300s only has 12mp, it still had noticeably more noise than the 7D.
DaleKamp 2 years ago
save and get the 7d you be happy, the AF system is far better.
wrightwayphotography 2 years ago
ok lol your probably sick of my comments but a few more questions...
I heard that the 18mp count actually makes the noise worse. is this true?
And are there any negative things about this camera?
