  • After listening to this song for 50+ years, I finally know what it means in English. The subtle translational differences are less important to me than the overall feeling.

  • attempting to sing along with this like i actually know spanish.

    gotta love lyric videos~

  • i thought arriba meant up? i guess i was wrong lol

  • @TheKingCameron it also means that

  • I kinda think 'gracia' better translates as 'grace', but I can live with 'humor'. 'Arriba y arriba' is pretty idiomatic. Literally, it's 'up and up' or 'forward and forward' but in Mexico it means something more like, 'Get-up-and-go.' So in order to dance La Bamba we both need a little bit of grace and some get-up-and-go. :-)

  • i have this song on my guitar hero

  • @Hockey123123 and @jnaruto123 - I always thought he said Ba La Bamba or Bailar Bamba (Dance the Bamba) but the first line of the first chorus you can clearly hear that he pronounces an 'm' singing 'Bamba Bamba'

  • Translation from one language to another is never exact, Rather than straight-across word for word, translations always try to get the best meaning out of the material.

  • @christinedag98 none taken, i understand that lyrics are wrong, im not spanish either so i can't have exact correct translations

  • @jnaruto123 it's not humor but grace The english translation is Dance the bamba in order to dance the bamba a little bit of grace is needed. a little grace and another little thing and higher and higher and higher and higher and I will go I am not a sailor I am not a sailor I am the captain I am the captain
  • @jnaruto123 its call google translator.just saying

  • @TheDjlorono which is what I used for most of the lyrics and translations. It translates the word literally but not it's true slang meaning

  • @christinedag98 There is nothing wrong with this translation of the lyrics. They fit the mood of the song perfectly adequately.

  • @christinedag98 i looked up the lyrics and she had them right according to the internet
