WHAT RECOVERY?: GROCERY STORES CLOSING IN NEW YORK! 8-18-2010

I worked for A&P in 2005. And A&P had to sell all of the stores in my state do to a union for meat department employees, and Hurricane Katrina. A&P sold something like 27 stores in the Gulf Coast I think in 2006.

It is obvious here. You can thank the union for these stores closing. Unions used to be good. Now they just collect dues and do nothing.

People need to EAT no matter what the economy is.

This is the writing on the wall. The American people are up against it. Those that still have money eat. Those that don't have money have their neighborhood stores closed, and don't EAT.

Do you know what people want more than freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and blah, blah? They want to FOOD to EAT. In fact, they NEED it. And they'll kill for it. Water, too.

The other shoe is going to drop.

history, before there was the union wage and people in the 1930's literally fought for a decent wage, there was child labor and sweat shops....just a little history fact.

I've seen Union workers doing repair work. Generally 1 of them is up on a pole working, 4 of them are watching him and two are in the truck drinking coffee.

How exactly is this a good thing?

No offense to union members here who actually work hard. But they are generally the exception to the rule.

Unions suck balls! Not only does the over paid employment cause businesses to hirer less people. But you labor divas hike up the price of goods as well. And for what? Lately it is not even all that superior either. I'll buy american when it is not unionized! Or aleast reasonably priced. You over priced bitches! Unions will NOT cause the next Great Depression!!! Corporate America will... We do not need another Wal-Mart, CVS, Best Buy or Home Depot...But if the American public keeps buying from these companies (that buy from China) All traditional stores will continue to close down, and these so call bargin stores will take over, and then raise thier prices when they become a Monopoly...It's only a matter of time... The USA is Wal-Mart crazy????????

This idea that organized labor is at fault for our lack of jobs, etc. is just ludicrous. The fall of the middle class and the demise of our economy is about forcing down the American worker with cheap over seas labor. NAFTA and other trade agreements destroyed everything working Americans fought and died for in the labor wars...oh yes, there were real wars that won living wages for US workers. Then along came a over stuffed cowboy named Regan!
