  • Can you do a video on "How to connect vontage in a tin can and string application".......I failed at hooking mine up

  • worst splicing job ever.

  • awesome video thanks helped alot

  • You did not need to do this! All you had to do is run a phone chord from the Vonage box to any jack in your house. This will back feed to all the jacks in your house, as long as they are wired correctly to begin with.

  • you have the same comcast box and vonage box as i do.(do you have trouble with internet like just die's and you have to reset the boxes and well it is a pain in the ass!

  • @chevys10lord Yeah. I'm actually about to drop my ISP for new AT&T fiber. Bah!

  • Obviously don't want to try this if you are using DSL.

  • What about faxes? LoL

    I got 2.

  • Well i had a issue almost like yours but I did it really easy. I went on line and brought me a phone VTech DS6121-5 Cordless phone it came with 5 cordless phones. this was faster and and way cleaner. this way are lines are on the vonage line and people are free to move about the house and still have a phone in there room.

  • amature nite . Painfull to watch

  • LOL... You really should look at using Scotch lok insulation displacement connectors to make your phone wiring connections...

Twisting the wires together under electrical tape like that creates a point where it can short out if water leaked on those connections and they can work loose over time or if you or the phone company opens that NID...

  • @216682978 ive actually changed it up and moved everything to attic, including modem and router to make it all clean. plus since vonage, i dont really have phone company like normal.

  • Again... Even if you aren't connected to phone service via the phone company central office, that does not remove common sense and good wiring practice from consideration when making low-voltage wiring connections such as splicing telephone wires...

I am very certain that your Vonage router which provides your phone service would not *enjoy* having the wires dead short to each other if the tape fell off or if they somehow got moist...

  • The other way is to disconnect the phone companies wires and then just plug the vonage into a phone jack in the house. If you have a phone jack right near where your vonage is it looks alot better. If you want a phone in the same spot then just get a splitter

  • @fishysims this house had wires really wild at first. like every other room had its own line. so that wouldnt of helped.

  • Sounds like a huge headache some people don't think about doing things the simple way which usually will look nicer in the end

  • I like your video....i would love to do that in mine....but the problem i have DSL.....is there anyway to wired all my intire house.....to make it work all the phonejack.....pls help

  • Odd, I just did that to my house yesterday only I'm using another provider for VoIP! Good idea though, rather than using just one phone when your whole house has jacks all over the place!

  • @Cheesewyck great minds think alike! good job.

  • not a bad idea, I am going to check this out.. its a pain running wires through out the house when I can make my own lines.. nice and good thinking!!

  • @jazztrio2008 thanks! yea it is a pain...

i moved it all to attic alone with cable modem and router... now its central and cleaner.

  • A+++

  • thanks

  • Your are running additional wire for no reason. Really all you have to do is disconnect the old service coming into the house from the the box you were at outside. Then go back in the house and run a phone line (RJ-11) from from the vonage box to a (RJ-11) wall jack and this will feed all the other jacks in the house. If you need an available jack in the same room where the vonage box is in then get a splitter. This eliminates the wire you have coming through the window.
