  • If I could marry music, I would.

  • My friends and I recently recorded a song called "Nylon Whale" and we would really love if you took the time to check it out! It doesn't have much of a Ra Ra Riot vibe, but you may just enjoy it! Thanks and God Bless!

  • 42 people forgot their leaves. :o

  • WES MILES,YOU SO FINE I LAVE YOU

  • kinda remindes me of "giraffes? giraffes!" minus the voice.

  • i wonder how they felt about this song after their drummer disappeared

  • umm dying isn't fine.

  • @TheStfu1000 if you're dying to live.

  • @kshasaurus or if you simply want to understand things around you. do a bit of wikipediaing. can't do that if your dead.

  • at first in the description i thought it said Joe Moses instead of Jon. Any starkid fans here? Just me? k :(

  • EARGASM!!!

  • Whit "natural eye" at 3:15 should be so creepy!!!

this is a much different sound than vampire weekend

  • I love when they throw violin in their songs, it adds a whole new level of beauty

  • this... is...really...good

  • <3 what have I been doing?!

  • lol they ate the girls.

  • 2:36 prime lesbian moment, she even pulled back her hair, i thought they were gonna go at it

  • where has this band been my whole life??? D:

  • but maybe I wouldn't like death if death were good, not even if death were good.

  • when I was searching for lyrics to this song I discovered the chorus is based on Edward Estlin Cummings' poem "dying is fine)but Death"

  • go alexandra !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • megaa increibleeee

  • 37 people are scared of dying

  • it's saying dying is a part of life so it's OK but death is NOT part of life. ("forgive us oh life the sin of death"). The song suggests that it's because we think we can understand death (analyze it rationally and scientifically) but on some level we really can't. So I actually think the song is not claiming that we should accept death, but rather reminding us how weird and unknowable and unlifelike death is, kind of capturing why we rebel against it.

  • I CRY EVERY TIME I HEAR THIS SONG ITS JUST BEAUTIFUL

  • u gotta be a stoner to love this music new fav indie band when im fuck u ;)

  • @guitarplayer163 You have to try that again in English. Or, don't. Actually, don't.

  • What if their arms get tired from swinging?

  • that girl playing the cello is mega fine

  • I understand this song is in reference to an E.E. Cummings poem but wanted to know if it was in anyway related to the band's late drummer John Pike. I only ask because the time line of its release is shortly following the reports of his untimely death. I'm a newer fan of this amazing band so I wouldn't know and was hoping someone might help me out with this question.

  • @Vincanni I will agree that it would make sense for it to be about the death of John Pike. Unfortunately, John is actually the person who wrote this song. It is one of the five songs on the cd that were written before his tragic death.

  • Hipster music. hahahaha

  • @heyustabbedme I know! But the suspense of not knowing was just too great, i had to read on!

  • Dying is Fine,

But did John Pike have to?

    :\

  • I think I've just found my favourite band in the whole universe.

  • @esoj2706 YOU KNOW BANDS FROM OTHER PLANETS?! What are some cools ones?

  • @punk 2564, because they were coming to town and I wanted to confirm my disgust. They leave me so cold

  • @duko70 I will shut up.. only if you blow me, sweets:)

  • There are currently (insert number of "thumb's up" here) hipsters that have found this video

  • @TheRobotViking dude who cares its good music, hipsters can suck dick. i've been loving ra ra riot since seventh grade, i'm a junior in high school now, such a good band!

  • I so <3 this vid!

  • Alexandra (cello) and Rebecca (violin) are drop dead gorgoues

  • im pretty sure this song is about their drummer dyeing. He drowned right before the album was released and wrote just about every song.

  • @RooftopManor: this song is based on an e.e. cummings poem entitled, dying is fine.

  • @DocRisner i will have to go read it this instant, thank you for telling me that. Now I just wonder if the drummer wrote it before he died. This would be very strange

  • YAYYY

  • @ivokpetkov shut up cunt

  • @ivokpetkov successful troll is moderately successful

  • ra ra riot is soon gonna be my new obsession. i saw them at the treasure island festival in san francisco on october 17...they were actually pretty good. i'd already heard some of their stuff but i noticed that at first hardly anyone in the crowd knew who they were then all of a sudden they were bobbing their heads then some started dancing then it was just beautiful!!

  • the chicks in this band are hot

  • they are coming to arkansas on the 29TH of OCT....IM SOOOOOOO READY TO SEE THEM : ) im going to bring my FLUTE and ask them if i can get on stage and play along....LMAO!

  • at 00:52 the chick reminds me of kesha... i hate kesha

  • this song is starting to grow on me

  • awesome video

  • this band is fun and beautiful it reminds me kinda the ugly organ from cursive and vamp weekend, but all the good elements! I might make a trip to la this October to see them :)

  • Hipster Dinosaur says "Vampire weekend and ra ra riot sound NOTHING alike"

  • @pacman17pacman17

I saw that, which is why I looked up Ra Ra Riot. I don't think they're similar at all, at least judging by this song.

  • WHERE MY CATIPILEIRS GO!!!!!

  • i was trying to watch this video and seriously analyze it but those girls are too damn hot, very distracting

  • awesome song, awesome vid

  • I saw them in columbus last week opening for Devo. They have an amazing live show :) I think I'm in love with them now haha

  • nice track! its so amazing!!

  • love this intro. Reminds me of peter bjorn and john :)

  • @justabetterplayer, singing of death shouldn't make anyone fearful of their actions. That's the Bible's job.

The song's not about whether you deserve to go to a so called heaven or hell, it's about the desire to live and to keep living (i.e. "I wouldn't like death if death were good" ...). This to me is a clear example of the song having nothing to do with the afterlife, or a desire to repent, or any religious blargen.

  • @antigravity000 I agree, but I wouldn't honor this attention whore's pathetic attempt for attention..

  • @justabetterplayer you clearly listen to noise.

  • @justabetterplayer, I'm sorry it's not Lil Wayne. This music takes some level to skill to actually compose.

  • @mtbfan101 Just because it's not Lil Wayne doesn't make it good.

  • hipppppppppppsssssssssstttttttttttteeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrsssssssssssssss

  • Indie as shit.

  • I love this video.

  • great song

  • cutest caterpillars.

  • New Order + Weezer = this song.

  • @Mousler100 Oh wow that's the first time hearing that and it's so true.

  • @Mousler100 I don't mind the new order comparison but eww weezer suck.

  • what a cool video!

  • love!

  • love!

  • this is an interesting take on ee cummings.

  • rip john pike.

  • @katyagorm how creepy is it that he wrote this song.

  • @rqbrain not creepy... just.. coincidental, maybe. maybe he had a feeling he was going to go and wanted to leave a message to his bandmates :P

  • saw these guys last year opening for death cab. i loveeee them!

  • wow, they changed this song a lot on the Rhumb Line. great vid.

  • This is honestly the best music video I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot.

  • To anyone who will watch, click on on my page and watch a video i spent long hours for two months working on. so much effort went into it and i just want it to spread. if you dont like it, at least you can hear a beautiful song you may have never heard before.

  • it's not about who likes them...or how big they are...it's about the music and how it makes you feel...once they get big why would you complain? more of the world is getting the same feeling you do as you listen to it...share the love, don't try and keep it all to yourself...and same with death cab...who cares that all those other people like them, it's good music...more people SHOULD listen to it

  • Yay for intelligence.

  • i understand what you are trying to say.

but most people listen to music because its cool..

    its like a trend.

like right now the trend is techno and electronic.

lots of people never liked it and suddenly do.

its cool for people that listen to music for their own interests,

but main reason music gets played out is because it is 'cool'.

people may not like this now, but if someone significant enough called it cool, so will everyone else.

    thats also a reason.

  • @lindaxgore techno and electronic music has been around for a while, especially in Europe. Its a lot different now though, which is why I think people who didnt like it before are getting more into it. IMO more recent techno is better than stuff I have heard from a long time ago, so I understand that as why its become more popular nowadays.....its better :P not because its just "trendy". I dont necessarily disagree with you, but thats just something else to think of...and it goes for all styles

  • @lindaxgore nah, right now the trend is indie. fashion wise. music wise. globally.

  • @ghostsessions indie is good... their music's unique and rare to find...

  • @AnGeLWiNgS93 but among indiebands theres no big difference..therefore people get sick of it rather quickly

  • @profittlich what kind of music are you listening too? the indie genre is a genre where artists that cannot really be placed in any genre are put into, does neutral milk hotel sound like ra ra riot? sounds to me like you are listening to all of the mainstream "indie music" which isn't really indie. check out all the bands in the elephant 6 collective and most of the bands from subpop records

  • @thedeadcamel i suppose thats a valid point..maybe ur right and i havent looked into indie deeply enough..but the way it appears to me is slightly generic among the genre...well ill check the bands out

  • @profittlich yeah man there is such a wide range of independent music that is unknown to most people. If you dig hard enough you will find amazing music. Msg me if you like any of the music from those record labels and if you want more bands.

  • @profittlich you should try some bands like Discovery(with Wes Miles as vocals) or YACHT(look at psychic city) . just saying.

  • @profittlich depends on the band, really... like rarariot... yes, quite...

  • @lindaxgore personally its just like I like the lyrics, i like the sound so therefore i like the music, genre, record label, and how popular or not popular doesn't matter to me. If your trying to be trendy or be liked by someone because of the music you listen to, your a bitch

  • @lindaxgore what the fuck?

  • Comment removed

  • @lindaxgore What the fuck you talkin' bout Willis?

  • @lindaxgore Very true, I listen to electronica but not because it's cool, I think you mean Dubstep, but yes this is purely the truth, I would rather that someone didnt call this "Cool" becuase then it wouldnt feel like my indie/alternative rock anymore, i like how us musicians are kinda in are own world!

  • im shocked a fan of these actually liked deathcab for cutie as they suck balls..

  • i love this song<3

  • I really like this video, only just found these.

can any fans tell me any other songs / if they have album/s what's good?

I've literally just listened to 'can you tell' and then this, impressed.

  • Wow, first time I heard these guys was when they first came out. . .Never listened to 'em since until just now.

  • ra ra riot<3

  • i haven't heard this in forever.

  • Man, that guys house must be freezing, I can't believe he leaves his window open during what looks to be a snowstorm. Lucky caterpillars I suppose.

  • damn this is an artsy song

  • Ugh....bands like them needs to be more known now a days..

Mainstream music that we have out there sucks, big eggs.

  • yeah but as soon as they get popular we'll all be complaining

  • I know what you mean. Death Cab For Cutie was my one of my favorite band...then they sold out for Twilight...now all vampire teenagers, hipsters, and teens alike started listening to them.

  • I think it's kind of cool, though. I mean, at least they're getting a taste of what REAL music sounds like. I find that both the Twilight albums are a major wake-up call for the teens. It's like...wake up: here's what it means to be a singer, to do something different. If it gets popular, that means more people will give bands who deserve a chance, a chance.

    Ya know?

  • @frdrcksncn Death Cab sold out long before Twilight.

  • @JcdJulz Not for everyone for the most part until then...

  • @frdrcksncn

    what about vampire weekend?

  • @raraory1 you idiots. he's joking.

  • I love the video.. it does a great job of illustrating the lyrics

  • @Jordanpwnss-

Well not everyone has the same opinion.

  • SPOILER ALERT

    caterpillar+leaf=butterfly :)

  • @butterflyhope333 thanks for you knowledge

  • @lily1235 Your Welcome :)

  • wow for the first time the music video helped my opinion of a song

  • it's not sad, it makes good music that much better.

  • very creative ^_^

  • i have now!! :)

  • Dude, it was a joke. Dont get so worked up about it.

  • i would think the person who got werked up would be you, who responded to my comedic masterpiece of a response, dude.

  • this is the best music video i have seen in a while.
