You gotta wrong feeling. :-) Wolf's stamina far exceeds bear's, and when a wolf pack confront a bear it uses "bear biting" strategy, backing and biting, inflicting a lot of wounds. Wolves are able to fight for hours. They are too smart to go for a bear directly. The more a bear attacks the more it's exposed to wolf bites. It usually ends with bear's escape. :-)

The bear wastes no large amount of energy killing or injuring a wolf, and when they're dropping like bricks, wolves DO run. I've seen a human being beat a pack of wolves(I'm from Minnesota) just by hurting a few of them, because they run after you stand up to them. Don't set much store by wolves, especially not against a bear, as they aren't even as good of fighters as dogs.

These are the British Columbia rain forest wolves. They are overly brave in that area for some reason. I seen this and they said in the show that they sometimes will kill bears.
