  • Jim has an incredible voice, I think his career never really took off because of bad management. It seemed as if they were overcompensating on the fact people couldnt believe such a voice came out of Gomer. Therefore they surronded him w/ too much backup and is hard to find songs that highlight his single voice.

  • I'm about to shed a tear. Wow. That's just so beautiful.

  • Mr. Nabors protrayal of "PFC Gomer Pyle" made being in the military something every American wanted to do. Gomer Pyle served with honor and distinction as a United States Marine. Mr. Nabors has brought the world many happy hours of joy and entertainment with his voice and comedy. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

  • Isn't this an Elvis song??? :S

  • is it just me, or do think jim can qualify as a crooner? after he was through with gomer pyle of course.

  • I have all of Jim Nabors' albums and a few CDs. I can't play my 33 albums anymore, because I don't a turntable anymore.

  • Bought an album of him in the seventies-do you have the song he sang called softly and tenderly?. This mans has an annointed voice-some people can sing but he sings under the annointing and you cant get better than that. .Thank you lord for that voice. I know many remember him as Gomer Pyle and he sometimes sang on the show but it wasn't until I bought that album that I really appreciated him.

  • @arielajoy122 I don't have that one, but with a little research found that it is available for download from both Rhapsody and Amazon for only 99¢.

  • @arielajoy122 this is the 11th track on Jim's cd Songs of Inspiration which should still be available at amazon Gold bless you as you enjoy it! bettygaust

  • @arielajoy122 He was covered in oil before he sang?

  • MR JIM NABORS WILL LIVE FOREVER! I HOPE TO HEAR HIS AWESOME VOICE SOME SWEET DAY IN HEAVEN, MARTHA ECKERT

  • Thanks so much, Tex. And thanks for posting the song. All the best.

  • Does anyone know where I could get a copy of this song on CD?

  • @LCaldwellatecla It is included on his CD "The Country Side Of Jim Nabors". Used copies are available on Amazon for as little as $2.17.

  • never thought he was so good!

  • i SAW JIM IN CONCERT LAST NOV.WHEN HE SANG O HOLY NIGHT NEARLY EVERYONE IN THE HALL HAD A TEAR IN THEIR EYES,IT WAS THAT BEAUTIFUL

  • I can't think of another singer who puts more of themself into a beautiful song such as Jim does. I'm trying to find his version of "O, HOLY NIGHT'. It will absolutely make the hair stand up on the back of your neck!! If anyone has it and can post it, I'd be one seriously happy man!!! Thank you and may you all find peace and blessings this year at Christmas!! GOD BLESS FROM US TO YOU!!!

  • gomer pyle is amazing!!!!!!

  • I've listened to Nabors sing this for years. Absolutely amazing, Gome !!

  • No one has ever recorded this song with such beautiful voice. I have looked for this for 20 yrs. FINALLY!!! WOW WELL WORTH THE WAIT!!!

  • You are telling me! No one sings this (or anything else) better. Some remember Jim as "Gomer Pyle," but for many of us it will always be because of his incredibly wonderful voice.

  • no matter what what a voice wow!

  • Fine video arrangement for a gifted performer. The world was made better by the birth of Mr. Nabors. He also has had the class not to let the "sexual orientation" rumors be the overriding issue to define his public life. Whatever his personal "orientation", he has maintained integrity in his public life and gave the world beautiful music. That is what he will be remembered for.

  • HUH?

    He was gay???

  • Reportedly, a 2005 news report identified him as "gay", and I understand he did not make any public objection to it. (His spokesman had previously denied he was "gay". I assume that included "bisexual" also.)>No, he was not "married" to Rock Hudson.> I imagine he does not want to be identified with other "out" performers who are left-wing and also publicly vulgar.>If Mr. Nabors says he is not "gay", that is his business. Let's just be satisfied to enjoy his music.

  • I love his way of singing. It is a shame that he had to get fame by acting like he was a few bricks shy of a full load

  • You are misunderstanding "Gomer." Gomer was not stupid. He just didn't want to see the bad side to people or situations. Those aren't my words, they are Jim's, and since he invented the character, he ought to know.

  • Well said!!!, susanb6479

  • Jim is the finest, most down to earth guy that there ever was ... and his music has been an inspiration to me for years. There's no one like him, and those of us who love him dearly think of him with great affection. God bless, Jim. There's just no one like you.

  • I agree with you susanb6479. I met Mr. Nabors in the summer of 1971 when I was a 12 year old boy and it was the thrill of a lifetime that I remember to this day. Mr. Nabors was extremely nice to my mother and I. My mother was so nervous trying to take our picture and she had her finger in front of the camera lens and Mr. Nabors in his "Gomer Pyle" voice said, "Move your fanger!"

Mr. Nabors deserves our utmost respect and treated with dignity, he has shared a great talent with the world.

  • @JohnnySpell great story john

  • Another strong voice!

  • lol! Andy Griffth show!

    So classic country I like!

  • Goes well with the soundtrack to Heavy Metal

  • I was he would come back to sing.......
