I read dpreview, it said that the camera performs sluggishly if you change between modes and they said everything is perfect except this slow performance problem, which is very disappointing according to them. Is it that disappointing according to you? the performance?

I know I might sound stupid but is this camera ideal for professional shoots? I'm a starting fashion photographer and I was thinking of getting this rather than the usual slr's. I'm just wondering whether this camera is more for leisure or for professional.

Since it does not take UV Filters, doesn't it get annoying when you get fingerprints, dust, e.t.c. on the lens?

Same thing in Greece, its way to expensive, 470euros, while the canon sx30is and the fz100 and hs20exr all cost about 390 euros. Get this price down quickly.

470euros for a compact is a joke! I can get the nikon d3100 with lens for that money.

Could someone tell me if this is better then the Panasonic FZ100? Been trying to decide between the two cameras. Trying to decide if I want to sacrifice the RAW shooting format as well as the swivel screen and slow-mo of the FZ100.

Am I over worrying about shooting in JPEG? The 1080p @ 60FPS is interesting... Comment Back?

@FluffyBoy32 You definitely want the FZ100- 1. It has a better HD movie, because it has a double thread of resolution. 2. Becuase the swivel screen allows you to protect your LCD. 3. It has a larger sensor so the megapixels don't looked that crammed in. 4. An intelligent zoom makes it 32x with full stabilization. 5. It has more features, art, scenery, architecture, sunset, starry sky, portrait, landscape, and tons more (no joke). Youll love it!!

Very nice video! Great to see the features. I wonder though, why didn't Sony use an APS-C size sensor in this camera like they did with the old R1? They have the technology. They can do it. Had they done it in this camera, I would have jumped at the chance to buy it. Small sensors do not produce the best image quality.

Do you know if this Sony DSC-HX100 can use a wireless remote to start stop video recording or picture taking? I have seen some cybershot wireless remotes on ebay but I am not sure if they are compatible with this camera. I assume a cybershot remote control would be compatible with all cybershot cameras for basic functions.

@monkey, yes it takes either a Sony card or SDHC; just one, but your choice. There is now a manual that you can download (33pp .PDF in GB English + 33pp in Spanish) but you have to look a bit. Try the Sony forums.

Suggested price seems to be $450± but I think it's coming in at $400 (Canada). Nice camera IF the results are sharp. Keep in mind the sensor is 1/13th the size of the sensor in, say, a Sony DSLR.
