I just made that blues up.... If you start playing blues bass lines and playing around with the ideas you like in this piece, you will find your own version of a blues on the auto valve. And when you play blues on a standard blues harp with bent notes, you will have a whole new world of things to play besides the usual bendy blues licks!
Hello Richard, i'm curious about the Auto valve in G. Do you have one? Is it adapted for cajun music? Can you show how it sounds? Great videos. Cheers.
Excellent ..... I am thinking about getting one of these and this demo has really helped . Great for a cajun sound . I already have blues harps - but the sound I want is the one here . Thanks for the post .
I like to use my AutoValves to do multi octave riffs or to do a call and answer with mice elf from one octave to another.. by blocking off one row of holes and playing just one at a time.. , then the other.
they are also good simply for volume when playing unmiked espec out of doors with a lot of flattop box bangers and banjos
I'm thinking of buying some of these harps actually (but maybe I'll never learn to do tongue blocking well if I do!). Could you please post some more examples on it, like Cajun music and such? Thanks a lot for this and for all the great work! ♫ ♪ ♫
The auto valve in D is like a low D - The C auto valve is like a standard range C, which means the high reeds are super high. Actually, the #10 reed in the high reed plate is a pretend reed - it does not work, and is just there to fill up the space. Bottom line - you can get more tone out of the top end of a lo D Auto valve. Thanks for subscribing! -R
@pintospot this sound a lot like the boogie lick whit his own modyfications

Hi Richard, I once had an auto-valve years ago. I plan to purchase another.
What is the best key to buy...standerd c or d like you have? Thank you, Rich

Buy the D it is like a low D with the high D on top
The C is like a regular C with an extra high C on top - the high end is really squeaky....

@rsleighharp are these harps cost more money than a regular diatonic??

How in the world do you do that? I have a Hohner Auto-Valve C, and mine must not have those notes! You have another subscriber in me! Thanks

Hi Richard!
What is the different between a Marine Band Octave and an Auto Valve?

Richard! Good to see you, long time no see. I think it was the Texas '06 Jam Camp.
Got your e-mail.
Bought one of those tool kits you had, and I will definitely be watching your tutorials, thanks for the heads-up.
You just got yourself a subscriber. Keep up the good work!
