  • Oh God, that Gen2 chime is horrible...at least they put the new NG locks on the doors, which are quieter than the traditional 6940A.

I am surprised that Otis is putting their logo on the door sill again-I thought they stopped doing that a while ago.

  • @thyssenelevator95

I've seen newer Otii with the logos in the sills. I know they don't do it as often, but I still see them.

  • Wonderful, and I thought the Red door Westinghouse was decomissioned, and can you hope to do another gauntlet at Burbank Hospital in Fitchburg on New Year's Day?

  • @MegaZeldafan1

I am contemplating a Gauntlet at Burbank, in January, but not New Year's Day. I only am around there, when I get my car serviced. It'll be due mid month.

  • what does Rockin' the Gauntlet Mean?

  • @Jimwoodward1212

First, the Gauntlet are the lifts and escalators. "Rockin'" is slang for "owning", or going through it without much challenge (usually), and come out victorious at the end.

That's the best way I can put it.

  • O/W/H?

  • @suzzex

    Otis/Westy/Haughton

Story is long-winded, but through research, from the late 50's until the 80's, the three companies had 3'rd party companies sell their lifts, and when installed, would use a lot of 3'rd party components. This is why a lot of Otis and Westy elevators look alike, especially door frames. The same could be said comparing Westies and Haughtons. Payne Elevator, a local company, also used these parts, mostly resembling Westies. Running out of characters. :)

  • @georgef551 So it's your term for three potential brands?

  • @suzzex

Yep. It's the three brands, when their installs are not 100% original.

Payne also like to mimmick Northern as well. I only saw one Payne that looked Haughtonish, the fast one at Athol Memorial.

  • @georgef551 Clever idea! Kinda like the stuff I do with modernizations like "DOVIS", "DOVLER", "SCHOTIS", "HOTIS", "THYSSENKROTIS" and so on. :D

  • @suzzex

    Same idea, more or less.

  • @georgef551 By the way have you had any luck with Payne? The ones in Newport, RI are excellent, almost to the standards of high-quality vintage Dovers.

  • @suzzex

Their tractions usually are not that great. Their hydros usually are done well.

  • @georgef551 MUCH similar to Dover ;)

  • Audio is a bit out of sync.

  • @pnwelevator

YAY, YouTube, and their EXCELLENT processing abilities!

  • Are there any other portions of Leominster where there's a particular crop of elevators that could be included in future installments of this exceptional series? Can't get enough of these!

  • @QuietSundayLibrary

This was Gardner (MA). Leominster is tapped out.

There's more places to do this, but I need to pace myself, before long, there will be nothing left.

  • at different times they bought a lower priced elevators. the EE dover buzz can be a chirp. another name for it is absent directory. cool back lights. on the second pair i like the motor sound. nice shoes. one elevator says B where another says LL.

  • @Balarick

The second pair (O/W/H Westies) have nice motors, but the second lift is noisy. Scars my big Niece. :)

The "Freighter" has 1, G, and B. Probably because it is actually a basement there, being in the ground.

he ones labeled LL actually are open to the parking lot.

It's a bit confusing, but if you walk the gounds, you'll see how it all makes sense.
