Look at it this way, when Thrice put out Identity Crisis Dustin and crew were around 16, with illusion of Safety they were around 18. These were the two albums by Thrice that were considered some of the ground zero screamo. Thrice now makes music that touches more on politics, faith, human nature etc. Where as MCR was average age of 24 when they made their first angsty album, loolol

I have mad respect for this band. I love their new stuff just as much as their old material. I can see how the older fans would be upset for them changing their style but I think it is a sign of growth and maturity. They can't play like this forever (or maybe they could) but the point is that I don't think any band worth their salt wants to be put in a box and stuck in one kind of genre and playing the same-sounding riffs and drumbeats for the rest of their careers.

Thrice and Thursday were like perfect complements to each other. Thursday had the more emo/new hardcore sound and thrice had the hardcore punk/metal sound, yet they both were influential in creating the "post hardcore" style. And luckily, both bands were smart enough to jump ship when the post hardcore scene got faggy and lost its focus on the music.
