When you buy health insurance you are gambling. You are betting that you will get sick and use more money then you put in. Otherwise you would just put the money in the bank. Insurance costs around $10K a year but under Obama's plan you can get insurance any time you want but if you don't buy it you get a $650 tax. So why wouldn't everyone choose not to gamble, pay the tax untill they get sick then buy the insurance? That's what I am going to do. I'll pay the $650 fine rather then spend $10K!

If an employer offers insurance, which is required by law with 50+ employees, grads must pay out of pocket for inferior coverage. Rich kids can take years off after graduation w/ parents quality health care. Poor kids working part-time looking for full-time work get inferior coverage unless they quit their jobs.

Do you think extending health insurance to children age 26 is for the poor? With the current unemployment rate this is a sham. Recent graduates who work part time do not qualify. According to GAO gov and CBO gov, in 2010 the Fed has to refi $5 Trillion in debt interest payment.

People against health care are not referring to children with no health care. The government already provides health care for children who's parents can't provide it. It's called Medicaid! Now most of those children (NOT ALL OF THEM) belong to parents who don't want to work or are in prison. Why should we pay for drug addicts health problems caused by their drug use? Why should we pay for tramps that screw around to have an abortion? We already pay for Medicaid with our tax dollars!

When you buy health insurance you are gambling. You are betting that you will get sick and use more money then you put in. Otherwise you would just put the money in the bank. Insurance costs around $10K a year but under Obama's plan you can get insurance any time you want but if you don't buy it you get a $650 tax. So why wouldn't everyone choose not to gamble, pay the tax untill they get sick then buy the insurance? That's what I am going to do. I'll pay the $650 fine rather then spend $10K!

WE NEED HEALTH CARE REFORM!
The United Nations ranks the USA #38 in life expectancy. We are also ranked #33 in lowest infant mortality. Most, if not all, of the countries ahead of us have "evil" socialized health care. Some of the nations that beat us include Cuba, UK, Belgium, Canada, France, Israel, Austrailia, and Switzerland. We are #1 in one category though--the amount we spend on health care. My only complaint about heath care reform is that it didn't go nearly far enough. !

They raised the retirement age in many countries in Europe because they need more people to die off before getting to retirement age. Its simply that they have more retirees than money coming in. Sad as it is, same goes for healthcare. No nation can afford millions of sick people added to HC system and not have it implode under the weight.

Just noticing that this is an interesting conversation we're having. Because the bills are both different it makes it hard to understand what will be in the final law. We are discussing the unknown. The finer points about IRS agents being asserted cannot possibly be validated at this time. Even if they exist in a bill these facts may very well not make it into the final law. Thoughts on this, am I missing something? Be well.

Not all the middle class is lazy, but there are differences between trying your hardest to provide for your family, and having an incentive to have free money. That is not exactly credible. And the middle class are able-working bodies, they can work, so why don't they, and buy their own healthcare. When you try to provide for others, you are decreasing someone else's rights.

The people opposing the health care reform aka the tea baggers are the same people that opposed the civil rights act.
This reform isn't perfect, I'd prefer a single payer system or even a private insurance system works if you follow the system of the Netherlands but this reform is a step FORWARD.
It's significant enough to already grant Barack Obama a place right behind Lyndon B Johnson as the greatest Post-WWII American President (for domestic policy, all Presidents are same foreign policy)
