why these guys aint hugh is beyond me. ah sure at least we have rihanna shes good looking and she is AMAZING at having the world most irritating voice/songs
I cannot begin to even explain how amazing this band is. To anyone who hates on them for anything... you have not lived. There have been so many times that I have been piss drunk and had no idea what words could even explain what had happened. They have stories that can help you find out. The trials of life. The trials of love. It's all there.
why the hell would everyone assume that they are gay? because they are in a band together? People are stupid if they automatically assume that if there is more than guy in a band they MUST be gay together... You know what? YOU are gay if you think they're gay.... suck one.
the only reason i might assume they're gay is that one of their songs is called the train that stole my mans heart. so that may be misunderstood and some of their lyrics can also sound gay, but im a big fan and it doesn't matter anyway.
that song is told from a women's perspective. lyrics like BUT COME THE DAWN I'LL CLEAN MY TEETH, POWDER UP MY BREAST, TAKE OFF MY FADED APRON, PUT ON MY SUNDAY BEST indicate this.
@spenserone youre his cousin?! can you please tell him to heal from the car crash already so I can see them live? It's on my "things-to-do-before-I-die" list.
wouldn't care if they were but i don't think they are. they've just been knowing each other for a long ass time, friendships can become really intimate without having to become sexual. i think their live performance shows a lot about their friendship, the way they sometimes even hit the wrong notes at the same time.... gotta love this band!
i don't think they are either. i've read interviews with them and they don't live together. if they were gay and this close it would make sense that they would live together.
totally agree, i always grab my guitar after a song or two from them, every song better than the last, but i think its the lyrics that always surprise me
saw them last year, they were so godam awesome. They deserve so much more than the tame, non-respondant crouds that seem to turn up to the shows, rock out dammit!!;d
I'm from Las Cruces, NM, and whenever Las Cruces Jail plays on KRUX 91.5 I jam out crazy style! The music in this town is awesome and to hear a song about it just shows what kind of an influence it can have on musicians. We'd love to host these two individuals, have them share their ballads with us and get in an interview like our Paramore at Warped Tour vid on our site. Keep jammin' guys, its sounding great.
yeah, it looks like they're playing it when they opened for Les Claypool. It sucked because they stopped opening for him right before I went to see Claypool in Milwaukee.
Adam Stevens, The Two Gallants, your "sound is entrenching, deep, diabolical, gut wrenching and very inward. It's a rise, it's a sheen through life. THANK YOU Mis B
they played it when i saw them in november. i think its called 'japan town bowl'. at least ive heard it called that before somewhere. ill try and hang round after the next show i go to to find out.
After the show in Berlin I met Adam and Tyson. We were hanging out with a couple people who were trying to get Adam to join us for drinks somewhere else. No dice.
I saw them play again in San Francisco and Berkeley. Once at a record store called Amoeba. And once at the Greek Theater. Then I saw them again at a small club in Park City, Utah during the Sundance Movie Festival.
They definitely sound better at small venues, as they describe in their interview video.
So I went to see Two Gallants open for the Decemberists at this tiny club. I had no idea what to expect and they blew my mind. Back then they would extend their pauses and reflections and notes a little differently. After years of playing the same songs every night they've started to lose a bit of the intonation they used to sing with.
That being said they are STILL head and shoulders above everyone else... and don't even bother with the Decemberists. I can't stand them live.
The first time I saw them was in Berlin in the November of 2005. I think that's when it was. I'm from San Francisco and a girl I met in Berlin was also from SF. She was visiting from somewhere else in Europe. I think she was studying in Amsterdam for the semester.
So there I was in Berlin, hanging out with a girl from my hometown. She told me I NEEDED to go check out this band from home. They were playing later in the week.
i saw them on the 12th and had the same problem with a steward. pissed me off coz i really wanted 2 meet these guys. where were they on the 10th? wot was the setlist like? did they play many new songs?
they played in birmingham carling acedamy, it was so small seriously, about 100 people, tiny. they did despite what you've been told, steady rollin, reflections of the marionette, fly low carrion crow, seems like home to me, they were amazing I just really wanted them to do my baby's gone and also they were gonna do crow jane but this guy in the crowd was like chanting waves of grainand yeh they played quite alot of there new songs about 4.

the freshest band in years. like a breath of fresh air. so glad i can see a band i like play live these days because the band members arent dead from a rocknroll overdose.
I didnt hear the Grateful Dead similarities until the newest album....but they are there in a "Friend of the Devil" way at times.
That said, I get everything from the White Stripes to Bob Dylan with these guys. In my opinion, Two Gallants stands head to head with any of the bands mentioned in this comment. I heard about them in Dec 05 and have since purchased everything available on disc and Itunes. Everything they touch is gold.
I always thought the story from the Dubliners (which is what their band name is from) was pronounced Gall-ants, like the plural version of the adjective gallant. Well I suppose now I have to get into the habit of saying it the other way.
amazing music. start to finish.
one of my favorite bands.
changed the way i listen to music.
hope to hear another one soon.
