PUP is now one of the 4 biggest Abyssea DD's. WAR being nr 1, NIN, MNK and PUP sharing 2nd place. Stringing Pummel is a beast with RR/GH/VV atma, and pup/nin can solo a lot of NM's quicker than normal pick-up groups can. Also the ability to maintain itself with very high evasion and a Cure 6-bot makes it the second most powerful job in Abyssea at the moment (MNK + WHM being first. Counterstance is just too powerful). A job worth to level, folks!
i have both 85 bst and 85 pup. i prefer bst for things that i may not trust my pup to do. however pup is a great job to lvl and is good in certain situations. over all i think by bst gets the job done for me more than pup, but pup is my favorite job.
I enjoyed the hell out of PUP when I lvled it. Sadly though I never was able to get the RNG frame past 239 since I soloed it all the way to 75 so its magic was only thing capped in end. I learned some crazy shit though just through that and even though the Magic was only thing capped it came to be really useful in Abyssea since Blizzard IV, Thunder IV, and Stone V still do around 1200~1300. Gotta love those magic kill shots :P
Its an underrated job for sure. However this Video does little to help Pup It's case. Show its solo capabilities, Low man versatility, Then its damage on something higher than a Easy prey Monster... People will respect a lot more.

First off level sync sucks for pup, a lot of pup suck due to their undercapped skills. Ppl cry about pups and merit pts. I saw a duo pup party in ru anne gardens destroying stuff. Fov page three is 1550 exp. Don't get merit pts, if ur an uncommon job use uncommon methods. I much prefer meriting on bst or pup than a job for a real merit pt. Don't cry just do it a different way. When u lvl pup u learn ppl don't like you. By 75 u should be able to take care of urself!

for all you pups on the KUJATA server, i am a 75 pup named Hoku and i do pup burns rather frequently (party of 5 or 6 pups and maybe 1 cor or brd) if u are a pup on KUJATA and are tired of soloing hit me up :D Hoku on kujata :D we burn anywhere from levles 35-65 and 71-75

-dunno if youve been answered already or not, buuut- to the endgame thing.. i've seen a friends PUP out DD anything else in the LS in sky, but the leader wont let him go PUP to anything else, even once to see how it goes [even with the parsing results showing the PUP alone doing double what any of the others were doing] would give you the links to the parsing stuff, if i knew where they were.
I only remember some from Kirin where the Puppet did 16.5% of the damage [full alliance +4 spare who kept swapping in if someone died, to save them just watching all the time] while on the RNG frame. best other than that was 10% [i think either a SAM or a BLM, not sure]
anyways i digress... yes pups are devastating but they got limits and those limits keep them from hnms a lot. and other endgame events. its not a big deal. not like your only allowed to lvl 1 job anyways. on pup/war i solo SC light (magic mortar> dragon kick) with thunder 3 MB using rdm head... u can make some very nice combos, expecially w/ a friend, you two work very well together

A well merited PUP actually does very, very good on Greater Colibri's using the Ranger pet, due to the piercing bonus. I've seen 1400+ Armor Piercers on them.
You're missing out by not inviting them if that's what you're meriting on.

@AgentNeo007 Indeed, pup's rock at meripo's, it's just that 95% of the pups on every single server are bad and melee in mage gear/use blm frame in colibri parties etc. etc. I've never been outparsed yet on my pup though, not in bird parties, nor in lower parties.
@ikhebl0l Sadly enough, mage gear is all Square Enix offers Puppetmasters at lower levels I still have a hard time trying to find something decent but my level is 52. Think I'll go after a Usikane whenever I can get Salvage

You can wear stuff like Battle Gloves for a nice acc+3, upgrade to Combat Mittens+1 for acc+4 att+1, wear Life Belt or Swift Belt, Tabin Boots +1, or AF boots before that, Emp Hairpin, two Sniper's Rings, stuff like Birdbanes for 55-72, the list goes on. You just have to know where to look. Not to mention Aurore being very nice armor for PUP. Though I do agree other melee jobs get more, don't forget PUPcan nuke better than BLM's as well.

Curious for pup was there a special way to make the automation blm do the spell you want to for the Magic burst and all I love puppet master and don't think there lol at all pisses me off when people think that just cuz the player doesn't do damage with dragon kick or howling fist doesn't mean the automation doesn't make up for the damage infact put thoes 2 damages together is tec same person doing all the DPS anyways for my question does it have to do with any ofthe equipment for the automation
except for the fact that's not the damage potential that makes the job weak, it's the job mechanics (20min timer, no control over a lot of things, etc)

what PUP needs is a 5min activate timer, no more bullshit dark maneuvers etc for using highest ws, no more aspir/drain kicking in when you wanna nuke, etc

of course there is. One of the many complaints I used to hear in end-game, is not enough healers or black mages.
PUP can do both of those jobs with a simple swap.
Cannibal Blade should do lots of damage to HNM's.

Curious for pup was there a special way to make the automation blm do the spell you want to for the Magic burst and all I love puppet master and don't think there lol at all pisses me off when people think that just cuz the player doesn't do damage with dragon kick or howling fist doesn't mean the automation doesn't make up for the damage infact put thoes 2 damages together is tec same person doing all the DPS anyways for my question does it have to do with any ofthe equipment for the automation

except for the fact that's not the damage potential that makes the job weak, it's the job mechanics (20min timer, no control over a lot of things, etc)
showing good damage on those pitiful mobs isn't really impressive at all IMO
what PUP needs is a 5min activate timer, no more bullshit dark maneuvers etc for using highest ws, no more aspir/drain kicking in when you wanna nuke, etc
good vid, but damage isn't the reason why pup needs an overhaul ... sorry

mercurexi: Actually survivability isn't really an issue these days. Ventriloquy, Role Reversal, Guigonl Earring. Really the only problem I have is the cheating mother ****ers in Campaign that do Ore Lob. >.>;

What mercurexi said. I still find PUP rather weak. Not something I'd want in my party. A DRG/SAM/DRK/MNK/WAR could easily be of better use.

Actually PUP can solo a Light SC I believe. I am not one so I'm not 100% sure but I believe it's something like Dragon Kick to Magic Morter.
