MTH BELLS are ALL THE SAME GENERIC! WHAT KINDOF a CHUFF IS THAT!!! SOUNDS LIKE A SICK AIR COMPRESSOR Sure makes me appreciate Lionels sound even MORE !!!!
@NICKEVJOE911 The chuff sound of Lionel trains sounds like a tin can.I know I have several legacy locos. Having just returned from a trip as guest fireman on restored steam loco, the MTH sound are far more authentic and with DCS you can tailor your sound to fit yourself. A much better true digital system not haring to rely on radio signals. .
At this time I am rebuilding my layout. What is the better system to use, the Legacy command system or MTH DSC system. thanks

The MTH sound sets are the same for many Steam locomotives.

not really the chuff sounds usually the same but the whistles vary.

Some of the whistles sound close up and others sound distant.

did you do that without the legacy, if so how?

I would be interested to know summary details about how you hooked up both systems for the single layout shown.
