Good job for running on a horse your not used to. Try to focus on making a good clean smooth run before you try adding the whipping. Other then that good job for your first time.
awe good video,.. and you did pretty good, on a 4yr. old :D,. i do barrel racing too,.. lol i luv it, i own 2 horses and I also own a 4yr. old lol he's carzy, when trying to turn! great vid, i luved it! hope to see more!!
The title of this video is "My first real NBHA show". The horse is actually my horse who just turned 4 and had never run indoors before and the rider had only barrel raced a handful of times. I think we should all keep in mind what it was like the first time we barrel raced and infront over 600 people and on someone elses horse.
it was awsome! and that horse is fine for her she handled him/her better then most ppl could. he/she is only 4 yrs. old! I have a 4yr. he's hard to handle but I can do! lol good vid!
By concentrating on the whip and going as fast as you could you didn't concentrate on where you were going and had a really sloppy first barrel, and a pretty sloppy third barrel, along with wide turns.
Not trying to be rude, and I'm sure you've improved since this vid was added almost a year ago. Beautiful horse by the way.
ummm actually if your horse has tender sides like mine you cant kik them and if you do use a over-under which is what shes proably using not a whip it doesnt hurt the horse...why don't people seriously understand that...horse skin is alot thinker then ours...get that threw your heads people...jesus
i agree, a whip is a tool...some people dont get that. if people would use their legs right they wouldnt need whips. sit back point your toes out and heels down! youll get a lot mmore done that way!
i know sometimes people say western sports are a little pushy with horses (like abusive) but most horses enjoy them and you looked great. Seems like the horse had fun!! :)
I think if you concentrated a little more on the pattern and a little less on the speed and trying to make her go you would clean it up alot. Later when you push for the speed the pattern will be there and you won't have to work as hard to stay on pattern. Cute horse and congrats on the show!

@parker1069 what kinda things??
I think i can speak for most of the barrel racers on youtube.
WE LOVE ARE HORSES VERY MUCH.
I would do ANYTHING for my barrel horse and she loves what she bred to do.
She'd die if i stopped barrel racing her.

looks like you need a little more practice on that horse dont turn so tight on 3 or you'll risk gettin 5

you need to rate her more before the turns and DONT hit your horse and pull on its mouth youll ruin it
but otherwise good run:D gorgeous horse<3

U need 2 worry more about the turns than the speed. get the turns down first then, mess with the speed. O and the the buckskin i have a buckskin mare
