  • i can watch this 1000 times and still laugh on and on LOL :D

  • Although I am only 26... Whats happened to the music industry? Elvis was an artist and a true performer. People like him just don't stand a chance in the charts now days. Just quick out the studio, mass produced, money fueled rubbish. It's a sad affair.

  • I meant August, not December. Pardon the mistake.

  • why cant anyone locate actual film footage (not just the audio) from that December 1969 performance? It's like the missing 18 miinutes of Nixon tapes. when I was a kid, my uncle gave me this on cassette tape and it forced me to laugh on seemingly unlaughable days. When I bought him an ipod, I made sure this was on it. He was amazed.

  • @jaimek22 It's a mystery ! But i be sure,RCA have also a film footage and one day they pull it off the material ! It's a mater of time......:)

    Thanks.....Frank

  • @MrXy1995 Like you're comment very much ! Viva Elvis.

    Thanks......Frank

  • Oh hilarious! Thank you so much to one who recorded this!

  • he's just too cute

  • Bet You Didnt Know That The Reason He Was Laughing Because He Said Do You Gaze At Your Bald Head And Wish You Had Hair And In The Front Row Was A Bald Man In The Front Row And You Can Hear A Man Say HEY!

  • he was laughing at Cissy Houston singing the high notes. Whitneys mom wow

  • I thought that The King was laughing to His backsinger, but is it really true that someone from the audience losted his tupe and that was the reason of that memorable and legendary laughing?

  • @JJJFox That's the story I got from someone who was there. The guy was drunk, in the front row and his toupee was cocked on his head. When he saw the guy, he changed the words and just busted into laughter. Hilarious!! They used to play it on the radio all the time back in the early 90's in LA.

  • i love his laugh haha

  • His laugh is adorable!! :)

  • Super! Laughing King! Probably the Ptzigulina Hawaiian singing that 3 ghosts of monkeys ass red '.

  • Super!Râde Regele!Probabil de la Piţigulina Hawaiană care cântă ca 3 stafii de maimuţă cu curu' roşu'.

  • I thought the reason he was laughing was because just as he was singing this, he caught sight of a bald headed guy in the audience? This song ALWAYS makes me smile though, love it

  • this always makes me laugh like a lunatic

  • I think this is the first time I've heard him laugh, it's so surprising and sexy, ahah.

  • hahahahahahahaahahaahahahaha

  • @TraceyMariexx Yeah............absolutely , it's very contagious! :))

    Thanks.....Frank

  • @gili66 It is now my ring tone :)

  • I remember when my mom first introduced me to this clip. I've been in love with it since.

  • I'm not an expert, but didn't someone in the audience keep lift his toupee of his head causing him to laugh?

  • LIVE haha. doesnt they laugh

  • What does he say in the end?

  • @tiolouiee He sad that 14 years of his career have slipped away with this performances :)

    Thanks.....Frank

  • @tiolouiee he says that with this interpretation 14 years of his career have gone down the hill :)

    Thanks....Frank

  • Hahahahahahahahahahaha ! OH LORD ! How I Love You!

  • SO contagious! This makes my morning :D I'm quite happy to say I'm 18 and listen to The King on my way to college!

  • It was during Cissy Houston's soprano obbligato--on this version of 'Are You Lonesome Tonight' --that Elvis started laughing--midnight show, Aug 26, 1969...

  • Elvis singing style was derived from the white italian middle-class singers who dominated radio and records until early fifties. Often he´d do impersonations of Frank Sinatra and Johnny Ray a pop sensation in the early fifties.

  • i always liked this version.it's good he had a sense of humor

  • It's funny because it's a sad song, and he can't stop laughing :)

  • 13 people dont like it. They got to be sick...

  • this beautiful laughter made me a big fan off Elvis 25 years ago

  • my dad told me about this lmao!!

  • i thought he said do u stare at your bald balls and wish u had hair till i read comments hahaha

  • Play a full volume!!!

  • love this version

  • It sounds as if he said- someone call the doctor at 1:51 , That sounded so hilarious ha hah. R.I.P. KING Elvis, you're missed by millions of people, and subject of interest by new generations.

  • Wow, I love him. XD

  • Haha! I heard this on the radio

  • @spursfan112 It's very contagious !

    Thanks.......Frank

  • The Lady with the high voice is Millie Kirkham who is in the credits and can be seen in 'Thats the way it is'. This was the film charting Elvis return to live shows and was made in 1969. His first show being august 10. Kathy Westmoreland came at a later date. Suzi Quatro cleared up the long debated cause of Elvis laughter, saying after he sang about 'do you gaze at your bald head...' he then saw a man seated at the front who was very bald! This was told to her by James Burton,( lead guitarist)

  • @4uthefunnyfarm That's really interesting, thanks for sharing. Now everytime i listen to this imagine some bald guy in the audience watching Elvis on stage laughing about his baldness haha

  • @4uthefunnyfarm Seems to be true ! The Elvis band had great time with him. Viva.

    Thanks.....Frank

  • @4uthefunnyfarm thats teh way it is was filmed in august 1970 filming elvis's summer festival not 1969.

  • Laughing most certainly is contagious, i can't stop! and tears to go with it.

  • This is the most hilarious thing ever, hahah I LOVE Elvis.... even my dog's named Elvis ;)

  • It's not Emily Houston, its Cissy Houston.

  • @MagicBus101 The Birth name is Emily ! :)

    Thanks....Frank

  • hearing his laugh makes me wanna cry :( miss you

  • @ayanneih Like your comment ! :)

    Thanks.....Frank

  • Elvis LOL !!

  • Actually, the lady singing in the background is Kathy Westmoreland; and if you've ever done 'shrooms' then you get an idea of where he was at the moment he was singing this song....:)

  • i absolutley love this track...it just shows elvis was a human being and had a great sense of humour...puts a smile on my face everytime i hear...thanks

  • @TheJambohammer Ouh yeh....it's a gift for us all !

    Thanks.....Frank

  • @TheJambohammer and it shows that he was high as all hell

  • I love you Elvis...

  • the woman that just carries on singing makes it funnier!

  • "Do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair"

Reason he laughed is because he saw a bald man the same moment he sang it.. :P

  • @Mappzor Yes...it's possible ! I wish i was there :)

    Thanks.....Frank

  • I love how the entire time he's laughing his lines out, there's that lady in the background, wailing along. XD

  • @NatanyaRox Ouh yeah......The lady...Emily Houston ...was very professional.

  • @righteous09 It's very contagious ! :))

    Thanks....Frank

  • Elvis fans, please, recognise the case for coherence. This song was recorded in1927 by Vaughn de Leath. Make a tribute for her!

  • damn.. that man is a fuckin legend.. never heard cuter laugh

  • Awesome Frank ! To my Favorites.

    Thanks........Frank

  • 'Sing it, baby!'...the woman's voice is outta control!

  • Elvis you legend!!!!!

  • @howardmoonsir Absolutely right ! Elvis has make music history !

    Thanks....Frank

  • absolutley fantastic lol

  • @CharlotteRKO1 I'm glad you like it ! :)

    Thanks.....Frank

  • It is reported that while singing the song, he saw a bald headed man in the public. So he switched the lyrics "do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair" and got lost in that big laughter. A fantastic coherence, showing that Elvis must have been a great humorous guy. This laughter is so infectious, you have to start laughing, too.

  • @Gynacord Waehre am liebsten dort gewesen.Schade dass es kein Vid. von diesem Abend gibt.Wollen die Hoffnung nicht aufgeben !

    Thanks....Frank

  • @Gynacord Actually, he saw two women in the front row trying to pull a man's wig off. He then sang the infamous line, and the man gave him a funny look.

  • @JimHopkinsonMusic - thanks for your adding comment, which makes the whole story even more funny. The "baldy", if still living, must be very proud of himself to become such a famous person. And the two nameless ladies made him famous. Great story !!! I wonder whether somebody would have been bothered to find the "threesome" causing this famous version, after all these years?

  • @JimHopkinsonMusic

actually as a writer when I had to research, the wig actually came off which is what Elvis saw and broke up over it:-)

  • FREAKIN LOVE IT & HIS LAUGH!

  • @mandymoorefanatic It's absolutely unique !

    Thanks....Frank

  • est-ce possible de trouver la video ?

  • Here is the story of this song: a guy came up on stage, pulled off his toupee and it

just broke Elvis up the rest of the song. ---Corey

  • @coreybryant59 I wish i was there !

    Thanks.....Frank

  • There is nothing I Love and miss more then the laughfter of Elvis. When he laughed especially when he and Charlie did the one version of this song up close and personal LOL you might say was one of the best. Elvis was known for his music charm generous spirit his love for all people NO MATTER WHAT COLOR as some think and his infectious laughfter. He was a kid in many ways when the guys were around and when the women were around he was always very gracious. Children were a gift from GOD. rest EL

And after hearing this, who doesnt love Elvis? =D He''s so damn great!

  • @guitarrocker90 Well said ! :)

    Thanks....Frank

  • He is changing the lyrics to "do yoy gace at your bolled head and wished you had hair" Then a man right in front of him takes of his hair/wig, and he starts to laugh.

  • @sveinklu Yes but the fact isen't proved at 100% ! :) Always a part of history.

    Thanks....Frank

  • @sveinklu Thats the version I heard. One dude up front takes off his tupee and Elvis just loses all composure. heard it from an oldies radio DJ. Funniest version of any song Ive ever heard.

  • is he saying ''Oh, nigger'' at 1:59 ????????

  • @danishsensation I think not because he says it too fast but all is possible !

    Thanks....Frank

  • @danishsensation ABSOLUTLY NO EL was not that way he went to the african american churches as a kid because he like me sat outside just to hear them sing and MAHALIA JACKSON and all the quartets wheather they were brown white black red or white he LOVED PEOPLE of all colors and the N word was not a word he would use.. Hugs Bobbie

  • 2 words...........THE KING!

  • @TheKent46 Absolutely !

    Thanks....Frank

  • he's laughing because he is saw a bald man in the audience. And Elvis sang "do you gaze at your bald head and wish you had hair".

The original lyrics is "do you gaze at your doorstep and picture me there."

  • @runeeymusic And he also laughs at the female singer in the background who keeps singing higher and higher. At 2:02 he says: Swing it baby! You gotta love it :)

  • what was he laughing at??

  • @xTHExLONEWOLFxM4 Isent importent why but the fact that he have do it,it's absolutely fantastic ! Its a part of the Elvis history.

    Thanks....Frank

  • @xTHExLONEWOLFxM4 a guy in the audience lost his hairpiece and Elvis lost composure.

That's what I heard on a radio talk show years ago

  • @xTHExLONEWOLFxM4 a guy fall asleep in front of him... and he was snoring :DD

  • I loved it.....I LOVE it.....and i'll forever do ;D
