Psycho Cat Beats Up On Vet

I have a cat that gets this irate when she has to travel to the vet. She gets a valium. It is so much more nicer for them. I just call the vet and tell them Phoebe is coming and I pick up her meds. You might think about this for Lucas next time <3

Kinda like a Vulcan neck pinch - it's what momma cats do when carrying their kittens.

Once you know how (not hard to learn), it will never fail you.

Also, it seems that the cat will tend to think of you as momma. I've done it when rehabbing ferals, and it only takes once or twice - with some growls thrown in - to convince them. Not flinching even if they nail you is important, too. Either that or I'm the cat whisperer.

my sister's cat is like this at that vet.....they have to wear gloves just in case when my sister was with her ex husband on a military base the base vet banned her cat cause she ended up biting him/her, thouhg the vet didn't handle her cat right... though with our vet she mostly "protests" the entire time, hissing, yowling and stuff...

She's totally not competent. She's wearing the gloves but still flinched when the cat turned back to bite. Just grab him and hold him, she's not even strong enough to pin him down. If I was that vet, I'd be upset with her. My cat is nothing like this at the vet, she just stands there and takes her shots like a champ but they always tell me to stand near her and speak to her and stuff.

Wow. See, for the longest time I volunteered at a vets office, and though I've seen some crazy cats freak out, this never happened to us. Then again, the vet wouldn't have allowed it, he'd have sent cat and owner home (Not the best vet in my opinion). The worst we got was on my first day there. Cat was coming out of anesthesia and, I promise I'm not lying, CLIMBED the concrete walls in circles. Most ridiculous thing, watching the assistant chase it around. Id rather have dealt with this one :)

It's good that my vet doesn't put it over my cat for his needles he's so old he'd have a heart attack! Out of all the people that would abuse a cat, do you REALLY think that a VET would be the one to do it? Putting him under the towel is a way to calm the cat down, since a cat usually calms down in the dark, due to its nocturnal nature.

@Gunkdude I've had loads of cats, and am yet to find one that will calm down when you cover its eyes. If someone shoved a bag over your head, restrained you & then tried to give you a shot wouldn't you struggle? Being able to see what's going on is a cats primary way of detecting a threat. I don't doubt the vets were trying to do what's best, but it's obv not working on this kitty & they should have tried something else!
